First Time in Paris

This is our first trip to Paris for five days. We will be traveling with children ages 4 and 8 to see Disney Paris for 1-2 days and other sites around Paris for the remaining days. I need advice and guidance on which area to hotle to stay in. Disney Hotel or Paris hotel near the Louvre

Disney hotel at DLP, go for the HOTEL NEW YORK, 4 star very good, good locatiion, nice hotel, Great breakfast inc,large pool in/out, just 5 mns walk both parks, I do not like the Disneyland hotel too expensive for what it is, just a good location.

RER trains 40 mins to central Paris there, regular service.

Thank you for responding, this is my first time starting a thread and I just realize that I put it in the wrong area. This should have been under the Disney Paris section Which is hotel location would be better for the first time visitor to Paris? Do most people that you have spoken to stay at DLP or in the city? I would really like to stay at both places but it would be too much of a hassle with the luggage. Maybe I could just leave my luggage at the hotel in the city and take an overnight bag to DLP for one night. I plan to take the kids to that Buffalo Bill show that evening. I just want to maximize my time and $$$

DLP hotels are MUCH nicer than in Paris and the train is quick and convenient. We went to the Buffalo Bill show and were NOT impressed. The food is REALLY not good! Entertainment is OK but that is it. Loved the park - it is smaller than Florida but it is beautiful and the rides that are the same as in the states seem longer and better for some reason. Have fun!

The issue with Disney hotels are they are 1. expensive 2. 40 mins outside Paris, I have stayed in Paris did a split stay part DLP, but couldnt recomend an area.

I liked Buffalo bills it was a good show, food ok, nice evening, its a 2 min walk from Hotel New York ,as BB is in the Disney village, ( or above) in fact the exit we came out off was at the hotel end of the shops (Mcdonalds Cafe Mickey end) than BB's entrance at the Train station/Park end.

Like WDW if you stay in a Disney hotel you get early entry, to the Disneyland park most mornings, and to me on my visits it was 8am to 10am each day, a good perk, before the City crowd come up by train.

Space mountain and Big Thunder mountain are far better than WDW and DL CL, and try to get on Crush'es coster, thats sooo good!

Hotels in Paris are expensive, and with a family you often need two rooms. However, I would NOT commute from Disneyland Paris! I love Rick Steves' travel books, and we stayed at one of his recommended hotels in the Rue Cler neighborhood in 2000. My daughters and I will be in Paris for 3 days next June, and rather than stay in a hotel, we are renting an apartment near the Louvre from Vacation in Paris: www.vacationinparis.com.

In 2002 my husband and I stayed in Paris for a week, and I went to DLP as a day trip on Halloween. You could go to DLP both days as a day trip - which makes more sense to me than staying at DLP and commuting to Paris for 3 days!

The apartments sound nice. Are they safe? I always wonder about some copying the keys and coming in the room during the night or when I out sightseeing. I am not paranoid, just a concerned as this would be a new experience for me.

Vacation in Paris is a US company. They mail the keys to you before you leave the US and you mail the keys back when you return in order to get back your security deposit. You have to be careful in any large city - or even at a Disney theme park!

We were in Paris for 3 days, 2 weeks ago. We stayed at The Hotel Royal Magda Etoile, 2 blocks from the Arc de Triomphe, and the Charles de Gaulle Etoile Metro station. Our room was a junior suite, big enough for 2 adults/2 children, it was 210 Euro a night, which included breakfast. Their rates are a little better when you call to make your reservations. We would stay there again. Many good reviews on Trip Advisor as well.

We did take a day trip to Disney. Very easy on the RER, especially since you do not have to change trains.

I have booked this apartment for October: http://www.vacationinparis.com/apts/id_158.htm After looking into what seemed like hundreds of apartments, I wanted an apartment that was both close to the RER A line, which is the train to DLP, and also convenient to major attractions. We will be in Paris for a one week, two of those days at DLP. What's great about Vacation in Paris is you pay in US dollars and they send you the keys before you leave on your vacation. I rented an apartment in the 6 eme on a previous trip but it was a hassle to rent in Euros. In my opinion, an apartment is the way to go. It's great to have extra room because European hotel rooms are super small, plus having a kitchen is great and you can really cut down on costs eating some meals in. Gives you more money to spend at Disneyland.

I LOVE that apartment! However, I rented a studio, as we don't need anything that big or fancy. The one-bedroom I really wanted by the Louvre was already booked, and that was a year in advance!
