I have only been in May before so have some questions about Jan as going on 18-22 jan 2010.

will the winter wonderland show still be on or does that finish when christmas ends?

will the light parade be on?

thanks

Mickey's Winterwonderland show usually goes on until the end of may, but the light parade is only on during the xmas season. :)

We went very similar dates about 5 years ago, and it was a great time to go as the parks were very quiet. We stayed in the Disneyland Hotel (there was a 3 nights for price of 2 on) and it was a definite benefit as the walk back to the hotel was so quick and the weather was cold and wet! I would go again at that time of year but only if I was in the disneyland hotel.

Sorry, meant to say mickey's winterwonderland show ends in march not may.:confused3

Be prepared that its very very cold in January, sometimes even snowy...The low crowds make up for the weather.

We went to Disneyland Paris in early Febraury 2 years ago and I have never been so cold in my life ! I don't mean to be 'all doom and gloom' BUT we could only manage a few hours in the parks and then we would have to go and warm up in the hotel room - needing hot baths and drinking chocolate. It snowed and there was an icy chill the whole stay. For that reason we have always said we would never go in the winter. However, I would make sure that you have plenty of jumpers, hats, scarves and gloves etc.. I was ill prepared and expected it to be similar to the temperature at home (we live in the Westcountry and experience fairly mild winters). The children were crying with the cold !! We have just experienced the extreme of Disneyland Orlando in July this year and I have never been so hot !! Although I love the heat and was not complaining !! We have done Orlando in May before which was perfect and quiet and Paris in June and September - both also very pleasant.
Please don't get me wrong you will have a FAB time - but be prepared and hopefully it will be a mild winter in Paris !!

THis echos my previous post, so being in the Disneyland Hotel is a definite benefit.

this is when we are booked to go next year, staying at Sequioa lodge's montana rooms so dont have to go outside for resturant etc if it gets a bit too cold. i am looking forward to it.

we went a few weeks later than this this year (feb 9th to 13th) and some days it was cold and we had a light snow fall the last but one day we were there. was quiet in the parks which we liked and just wrapped up in layers, (t-shirt, zip top, jacket etc) some days we wore leggings under our jeans or combats and we were fine. (some people we saw there though was not prepared well and some of the poor kids looked freezing!) just spent a fortune on getting hot chocolates (though they had a good deal that if you bought one at certain places in the day, you got a free one after 3 or 4pm!

We found as the park was quieter then there wasnt any real queing outside for rides and shows, and just walked or popped into the shops if we needed to warm up (great excuse for shopping :lmao: ) stayed at santa fe on that occasion, and as it was cold waiting for buses, we found it warmed us up to walk to the hotel (via the back of the disney village) as got us there as quick as waiting for the buss and kept us warm

We've been to DLP in both January and February and I can say that it is cold both months, although our trip in Jan 09 was especially cold (it was -14C for two days).

If you go well prepared (hats, scarfs, extra socks, boots etc) then you should be OK. I can recommend something like a wolly poncho and a pair of long johns (don't laugh) but they keep your legs warm.

DLP is very magical when it actually snows.

aw we've been this January and really really loved it. We were well prepared with thermals, snow boots etc etc and when the chill set in just popped somewhere for a warm and hot chocolate and carried on with the fun.

As long as you're well prepared and using the trip as a quick fix to enjoy the magic I'd really recommend it. Hoping to go back next January too.

thanks eveyone, will be prepared with my thermals!!! lol just wanted to do it a bit cheaper and less people, are there as many characters around, we went may before and was actually not that busy and lots of characters around

Yes we saw lots of characters and of course the queues were smaller so less pushing and shoving :rotfl:. Character wise I would say it was no different from going in July / August but you get longer with them.

Make sure you pack thermals, January just gone was so cold i actually wanted to cry. I hate rain and snow together.

We were there over last New Years and it was cold but we'd packed accordingly with thermals, hats, gloves, scarves and lots of layers and it was lovely.

There's something very magic about Disneyland in the snow and cold.

Wrap up warm, drink lots of hot chocolates and enjoy.
