Any good campsites nearby?

Hmmm just tentatively thinking about next summer holidays and think it may be better if we do say a campsite nearby and hire a car and then can spend a few days at DLRP but have a longer stay and do other stuff as well....

So, anyone know any good campsites nearby - can't do a tent :scared1: but would do a caravan or lodge type of thing..... :thumbsup2

We combined a Disney 'fix' with our summer holiday two years ago and stayed at 'croix de vieux point' but it is about an hours drive to Disney and I believe there is a more local campsite. They did run a coach trip from the site but we drove to give us more flexibility with times etc.

We stayed in a caravan and the campsite itself really is nice. It's very big and even has it's own man made beach. Would definitely go back.

We booked through Frenchlife but think they're now part of Canvas Holidays.

Hi PJackson,
I can definitely recommend the Les Etangs Fleuris camp site in Touquin. We stayed there quite some time ago, in 2000 and 2001, but in the 2008/2009 edition of the Brit Guide it is recommended also. We stayed in our own tent, but caravans, mobile homes etc. are also available for hire. The camp site has a pool, we really enjoyed the mini golf course, and they had delicious (so it says in my dad's trip report) grilled chicken for sale. The drive to the parks is around 30 minutes (or 20 if you drive "French style"). www.canvasholidays.com (which also features the camp site that MummyMinnie mentioned) and www.etangsfleuris.com might come in handy. I hope this helps!

Hi,

We're going to dlrp in September, we're staying onsite for 3 days 2 nights and decided it would be nice to spend a bit more time in France so we're going to Le chene gris caravan and camping site, its close to the parks and theres a train station nearby but im unsure if it takes you to the parks or not

We've just come back from 'Croix De Vieux Point' having booked via Eurocamp. It's a really nice site. It's about an hour and half drive from Disney, although if you wish the site do lay on a regular coach trip. A word of caution on their coach trip however is that it leaves Disney around 7.45pm, so in the summer you would miss the fireworks etc.

Site also runs Coach trips into Paris and the Astrix Park. For reference the Paris trip cost for 2 Adults, 2 Children about 70 euros.

What we actually did we stay at 'Croix' for a week, and then drove down to Disney and stayed at the Magic Circus hotel for 2 nights.

We did like 'Croix' and would go back.

Regards

Iain

Wow thanks - plenty of choice then :thumbsup2 I must say I don't think I'd want to be more than one hour away from the Parks. If you are max an hour away, how long would it take you to drive to central Paris then? Or would you be better to drive to a local train station and get the train in?? I'm a bit clueless really

I've just had a look and the one at Touqin does look ideal with the travel times but I don't think offers enough for us to do when we are not at Disney. We'd ideally like somewhere with facilities onsite too as I don't think we'll do a huge amount of travelling around the other days - prob Paris for a day and maybe Parc Asterix and that's about it (would probably stay for around 10 days I think) - it doesn't seem to have much and tbh the reviews from customers do say that... :confused3

The other, Croix, is just a bit far for us tbh - esp if we want to spend a few days at Disney. Although facility wise it looks ideal!

Couldn't find much on Le Chene Gris - do they have a website? Do they offer many facilities on site?

Any others anyone knows of - ideally within 45 mins of Disney but with a fair bit of on site stuff going on and facilities?? :confused3 Also, we'd need a 3 bed at least as we'd probably have my parents with us as well as our two DDs.

We have stayed at la croix several times and you can be in dlp in an hour especially if you set off early so miss the traffic

Sorry meant to say we booked ours through the sun (newspaper) holidays and it only came to 60 pound for 2 adults and 2 children for the Fri - Mon break so it would save you loads of money if you booked that way

Hi,

The sun normally do the sun holidays a couple of times a year and i think theres one around march as we normally book for April or the start of May so you should hopefully get something booked before you plan to go, keep your eye out for them they advertise on tv and you can check online

Hope to help

hollymattbenmilo: As we've booked with the Sun before they've recently sent us an email with dates for booking for next year. They are for March and April (excludes Easter dates) though but do include the French campsites too.

Not sure if I can send you the link but if you're interested let me know. I'm sure it also said you could book for £19 pp for 7 nights as well.

we love la croix du vieux pont :)

we have stayed twice before with the SUN holidays, and going asgain for oct half term :)

we save loads of £££s! :thumbsup2

It is def doable to drive to DLRP in an hour,we do leave the site early though to usually get to DLRP for EMH

won't have AP's this time though :(

It's a lovely site ,plenty to do ,the kids love the pool

i have been to touquin twice and going back next year .
i really recommend it .
20 minutes away and nice and quiet , set in a wooded area with a lovely pool.
just one word of warning though, the takeaway can be a big dodgy when they are in a rush. my daughters burger was red in the middle!!
