So it's been almost six months since our honeymoon cruise and I'm finally getting around to putting a TR together. This is my first TR and I am by no means as talented in reporting as some of the other DISers, but here goes!
(I hope that this report will finally help me get around to scrapbook the MANY photos we have from this cruise!)
So I guess I should introduce the happy couple.
Me (23)- Grad Student
DH (25)- AP Calculus Teacher
How this cruise came to be
It all started with a proposal at the happiest place on earth-Disneyland!
From there came lots of planning... for the wedding, for moving across the country, and for the honeymoon!!!
The wedding happened in late December
and the move across the country began the day after the wedding!
We decided to wait to go on our honeymoon until February because that is when DH has a week off from work because of the school winter break. But we did want some type of honeymoon before then, so we decided on a mini-moon in Niagara Falls. (This was on the way since we were driving from California to Boston and was a perfect way to spend New Years)
Here are some pictures from our mini-moon:
What we booked
-7 night Eastern Itinerary
-REAS Package
-Vista Spa treatments
-Palo brunch, dinner, and high tea
-Excursions at each port of call
and
-Cabana Massages at Castaway Cay
-a basket from Shirley at The Perfect Gift (a surprise for my hubby!)
February 13th
So the day finally came! We headed to the airport, had a fast flight and arrived at MCO. We wanted to arrive the day before since we were traveling during the winter and did not want to miss our cruise due to the weather. Better safe that sorry!
We checked into the airport Hyatt
dropped of our bags, grabbed some dinner, and walked around and did some "window" shopping. We relaxed and tried to go to sleep early to be ready for the next day.
February 14th
We woke up, got ready, and grabbed a light breakfast. We headed down to check out of our room and wait for the DCL bus. Check in for the bus was fast and easy and since we were one of the first people there we were put on the first bus out, Captain Mickey! We sat near the front and relaxed and watched the cartoons and cruise video. Soon we approached the terminal and could see the beautiful Disney Magic!
Our bus was the first group there and we went through security very quickly, checked in (we got boarding card #2), and took our security photos. We explored the terminal and sat down to wait for the characters.
Mickey!
We then went outside to take some pictures of the Magic.
Soon it was time to board!!!!
Our cards were swiped, embarkation photo taken, and the welcomed aboard!
We stopped at Guest Services first to apply money to our on-board account and sign up for several tastings . (While we are not big drinkers we do enjoy the occasional cocktail and enjoy trying new things so the tastings were a great choice for us.)
We then headed over to Parrot Cay for lunch.
Yummy Pina Colada!
After lunch we went up to the Vista Spa to tour the facilities and make changes to some of the treatments we had booked online. By the time we were done it was almost 1:30 so we decided to make our way to our stateroom. We booked room 6515, a sideways category 11, for the following reasons:
-we had 6515 on the Wonder and felt the size was great for two people
-we did not plan on spending much time in the room with soooooo much to explore on the ship
-we felt our money was better spent on excursions, souvenirs, and spa treatments
Castaway Club gift, basket from Shirley, and REAS gift
REAS Gift
REAS Champagne
We enjoyed some champagne and toasted to a MAGICal trip!
Then we changed into our swimwear and headed upstairs to enjoy the adult pool area.
Before we knew it it was time for the mandatory safety drill. We headed back down, changed, put on our vests, and made our way to deck 4.
After the drill we explored the ship some more.
Deck 7
We then went to dinner. (We had the Main seating) For some reason I did not take any pictures at dinner this first night . Anyway, we were seated at a 4 person table. Out table mates were very nice and we enjoyed their company through out the cruise. After dinner we went to the show All Aboard! show. We found it entertaining and looked forward to seeing many of the acts featured.
After all this we enjoyed the adult pool area some more and called it a night.
