Katie & Mike TR - SBP/Bluezoo/Morocco - Dessert Party (8/5)

The ceremony: Part IV | A 10 minute ceremony closes
moskopwedding-237-1.jpg

After the sand ceremony, things were coming to a close. Michael and I rejoined hands once again, and Ron began to close. By the power vested in him by the state of Florida...all that jazz. He pronounced us husband and wife and announced us leaving with the same names we came in with. If you are considering this; it doesn't sound weird at all :thumbsup2

moskopfav-066.jpg

moskopfav-068-3.jpg

The violinist starts to play "Once upon a dream" and it's time to finally blow this popsicle stand!
moskopfav-071.jpg

moskopwedding-245-1.jpg

And we walk off into the sunset. Actually we don't. We walk about 10 steps to the entrance of SBP.
moskopwedding-247-1.jpg

Then the most awkward part of the wedding, so I can't believe they caught a decent picture...Michael and I stand there for a receiving line I guess. My sisters and mom hug Mike and then we pretty much just stand there and thank god Amy comes over and asks us if we want the champagne. YES PLEASE.
moskopwedding-248.jpg

Time to eat, drink, and be merry
moskopfav-069.jpg

So we walk over to the cake table and I am generally pleased with the cake. The flowers are...cute. I don't know what I was expecting. Something a little more glossy I think. They were just very communion cake flowers to me. But whatever, I liked it. When I originally showed the Donald and Daisy figure to my sister she said the cake was going to look like a birthday cake. So I thought well maybe I can talk to the ceramics teacher and see if I can paint it to make it look like Donald is wearing a suit and then glue a veil on Daisy. Well in the end I decided not to. After my disastrous attempt trying to make the Mickey fans, I knew this painting project would just end in a lot of wasted time and money and would ruin the figure. In the end I think the cake was colorful and worked with the decor.

moskopfav-049-1.jpg

So Amy distributes the champagne and asks if anyone wants to do a toast. This was something I didn't plan because I didn't want to put anyone in the embarrassing situation of having to speak, but Carl actually volunteered, so ok...

You kind of had to be there and know us, but just trust me that it was funny.
moskopwedding-261.jpg

I love Mike's face here
moskopwedding-260.jpg

So Carl wraps it up and we tap glasses and people sip.
moskopfav-070.jpg

I don't sip. I chug like a total lush. Why? Because I'm the only person who knows that Donald and Daisy don't come out until the drinks are gone.
moskopwedding-258.jpg

I FINALLY MEET DAISY

First off, the Fairy Tale Cuvee is gross. After reading here how delicious it was, I had unrealistic expectations. But in my opinion it tastes like any another cheap champagne. But like I already said, I downed that sucker really fast. Amy walked over and told me the special guests would be arriving any second.

"Special guests?" asked Michael. "What's going on?"

"Nothing. We are just going to cut the cake."

"She said special guests."

"CUTTING CAKE FJKHSFJKLHGFSJKHLFS."

The violinist then started to play and then every turned and realized what was happening.
moskopfav-072-1.jpg

moskopfav-073.jpg

I saw my mom start to cry and Michael was just shocked. :-D I've always preferred Donald and Daisy. When I was little, we would search the parks for Daisy. When my mom went to guest relations to ask where she was she was told that Daisy was too small to walk around, but she was in the parade. hahaha. Well, of course NOW Daisy is easy to find. Early-mid 90's...not so much.

So Donald and Daisy come over and say hello and help us cut the cake.
moskopwedding-273-1.jpg

moskopwedding-274-1.jpg

moskopwedding-276-1.jpg

moskopfav-076-2.jpg

Man, I'm glad I had that manicure.
moskopwedding-278-1.jpg

Let's see if we can fit our fists into each others mouths! Seriously, do these pictures ever look good?
moskopwedding-280-1.jpg

The characters being there is another weird thing you can't prepare yourself for by reading the boards. It was very much an act, with perfectly timed music from the violinist. I wasn't expecting it to be so perfectly choreographed. Donald and Daisy walked us over and attempted to dance with us. We were super awkward and that ended very quickly.

moskopwedding-295-1.jpg

Our guests had a little more fun with the dancing
moskopwedding-306-1.jpg

moskopwedding-314-1.jpg

moskopwedding-313-1.jpg

moskopwedding-308-1.jpg

Yes, people will watch you. Hey dude, upload it to youtube and send me a link!
moskopwedding-294.jpg

moskopfav-079-1.jpg

We then posed for some pics
moskopwedding-315-1.jpg

moskopwedding-334-1.jpg

Donald and Daisy then surprised us, and I think that's all I can say. Those in the know know what I'm talking about. I have a great picture of Mike's reaction. Afterwards he asked me I knew and I said of course, I know everything. My sister actually knew too. She got us engraved champagne flutes and the people who did the engraving told her what was going to happen because they said they engrave those all the time.

Sadly, Donald and Daisy had to get going....

moskopwedding-352-1.jpg

:rotfl2: This is great!

Also, re: the chairs, I think that since they use that kind of chair when you ask for covers, they just brought extra for your cake-cutting, instead of having to bring the plastic chairs plus the convention chairs that were to be covered.

I'm sad you can't use that great wide shot because of the chairs - I'll bet Studio 222 could Photoshop them out for ya! :thumbsup2

Hehehe well color me surprised. I never knew these chairs were a possibility. I just assumed they covered the plastic ones!

omg! beautiful!!! i can't wait for more, and i love your mouse shoes!

Thanks :goodvibes

I love the way you write your TR. I feel like I am being better prepared for everything (since i am doing an Escape at SBP as well). Thanks so much for all your truthful comments!! It is really helpful to future brides!:goodvibes

I am going to go through these and just manually resize them because the pixelious look is really bothering me. I'll re-edit this post once I'm done.

EDIT: Ok I think I redid them all. Some are ginormous now though and I apologize in advance

Ceremony winds down
moskopwedding-357.jpg

So after Donald and Daisy left it was finally time to eat.

Any 30 Rock fans? I was seriously "ME WANT FOOD" at this point.
moskopwedding-356.jpg

I thought the cake was pretty good. The white chocolate mousse tasted like ice cream. I very much enjoyed it over the next week.

So we eat and then mill around for a couple minutes. I remind everyone to meet at bluezoo at 5:00. My parents were going back to BCV to drop off the cake in my fridge. Mike's parents were taking the sand ceremony and champagne flutes. I have no idea what my sisters, their boyfriends, and Carl did for the next 2 hours. I saw a snapshot of them on a friendship boat. Other than that, no clue. I think they went to ESPN Zone for some drinks.

Before everyone left my mom and sister attempted my bustle. This was something that should have been practiced beforehand. My sister took a picture on her camera and showed me and was like "is this how it's supposed to look?" I just blinked and said "forget, I will just wear it down." and my mom said "no no, we'll figure it out." I really don't know if they ever did.

moskopwedding-375.jpg

Here is Mikes hidden Mickey. Ugh. not worth the money, imo.

Well, we now had 2 hours to kill with Becka and Nate. It flew by. It was fun walking around. We got so many congratulations. I'm sad that strangers will never be so nice to me again. Here are my favorites.

:lmao::rotfl2: Hilarious! Everyone probably thought you were nervous or parched! :thumbsup2

Your pictures are gorgeous! The whole wedding turned out beautifully! I love the purple and pink, and I especially like the different "texture" of the petals on your aisle. It is a great look!

And the cake is awesome! LOVE the topper!

What a beautiful wedding! I love the pink and purple. The part about your hubby thinking the cake stand was your cake is too funny!
I totally agree with you about the obsessing, that's my biggest fear about my wedding day ( whenever that day may come) that I'll spend too much time worrying and obsessing and end up missing out on the day.
Congratulations on a beautiful day, and awesome pictures to remember it by!

Oh Katie!!!! Your wedding was so beautiful!

i would've downed the champagne too!!! The pictures with donald and daisy are adorable and it looks like everyone had a good time with them!

So far these are the things you've helped me out with,

-chairs and chair cover situation
-making sure i get OPEN roses!
-telling DF that if i catch his eyes making a B line to my chest i'll kill him!
-definatly getting rose petals down the aisle
-and some great places to tell Randy i want pics at!

I can't wait to read more!!!

These pictures are some of the BEST I've seen! Man, I just LOVE their look...Also, can you pm me with what Daisy and Donald do? I'm SO CURIOUS!

GREAT Updates--so funny

Thanks :goodvibes I agree on the "texture". All the other aisle petals I've seen have been the same size petals...so I wonder why they varied things with me :confused3 This was the picture I gave Rosie. I said I wanted it to look like this in my colors...so there it is

Thanks :goodvibes I don't think I obsessed *too* much and I did enjoy my day. But boy does it go by fast. I guess it's a good thing though when you desperately want to repeat a day of your life!

Yay for more updates! I love how your guests got into dancing with Donald and Daisy. Your cake was really pretty.:goodvibes

Dinner Reception at bluezoo
moskopfav-115.jpg

So our as our portrait session with Nate and Becka was coming to a close, we started walking over the The Dolphin for dinner. Well, if you've read my PJ, you know my reasoning behind this. I wanted a private meal; so basically every Disney restaurant was out.

So I considered changing to Wishes and getting a banquet room but the more I thought about it, the more I figured it wasn't worth the trouble, because I really don't like the look of banquet halls. Now many people here have had beautiful dinners in banquet halls...but that's because they paid to decorate it and make it look nice. I wanted to put as little money as possible into decorating.

So I researched places at Swan/Dolphin and bluezoo's private room looked nice. It had seafood, which we like. So..winner!

moskopfav-116-1.jpg

Now if I had to do it again, I probably would have had petals on the table or a pink runner in the center. But really it would have just been for this one picture. Regardless, I liked the details.

moskopfav-118.jpg

You may recall these from the sand ceremony...except now they have spikey things in them :confused3 I did not request these. I did not enjoy them. But c'est la vie.
moskopwedding-442.jpg

Chocolate place cards. I put some nicknames on them. Momma J is for my mom because she loves Momma Jumbo from Dumbo :cutie:
moskopfav-113.jpg

These were sitting on the left over Hercules meet and greet props at the ceremony.
moskopwedding-443.jpg

Bluezoo has this cool translucent wine rack thing in the back
moskopwedding-462.jpg

More kissing
moskopfav-119.jpg

The private room is at the back of the restaurant. The doors close.
moskopfav-120.jpg

So we all sit down and the wait staff comes in and starts taking orders
moskopwedding-465.jpg

moskopwedding-446.jpg

Shortly after this, Becka and Nate left, so I only have snapshots at this point. I tried really hard with photoshop to make some food pics look slick. Here are my attempts.

Bluezoos signature drink
wedding055retouched.jpg

I don't remember what it was called, but it tasted like a mojito
wedding074retouched.jpg

Crabcake
wedding073COPY.jpg

Cucumber ceviche
wedding083retouched.jpg

Bread
wedding085.jpg

Now sadly my mind was elsewhere. I didn't take really any other food pics until they were halfway eaten, so it looks gross. However, here is the menu for those interested:

Menu
Amuse
pan seared mallard foie gras...seasonal fruit garniture

Raw bar
oyster, littleneck clam, jumbo shrimp, half maine lobster tail, horseradish, cocktail sauce, mignonette

First Course
seared crab cake...house remoulade
or
teppan seared jumbo scallops...braised beef short rib, silky cauliflower puree

Second Course
tossed mesculin salad...roasted beets, walnut vinaigrette
or
cucumber ceviche...brunoise cucumber, jalepeno, cilantro

Main Course
tuscan tuna...white bean puree, tomato, artichoke, pine nut
or
char grilled beef tenderloin...maytag mash, roasted carrot, spinach, agro dolce
or
simply fish...mustard crab sauce, silky potatoes, hears of palm-fennel salad
or
heritage half chicken...carolina free range chicken, macaire potato, english peas, wild mushrooms

My only regret of the day is having too much food. If I did it again, it would be crab cakes, and a choice of entree and that's it. The amount of food was ridiculous. I was barely eating after the crab cakes. I think I bit like one thing at the dessert party. So the lesson here; don't waste money on food. No one will starve at your wedding.

Sistas
wedding068.jpg

One of the wonderful waiters, JC, was subjected to my blonde mother unfortunately. She kept calling him CJ, AJ, TJ, etc. Not because she is rude, but because she is an airhead. I say it with love.
wedding066.jpg

One thing I remember talking about while eating is Mike mentioning how happy he was that we did this. We would have had a miserable time at a church/banquet hall wedding in Chicago. It would have cost an enormous amount of money and we still would have had to cut a million corners. I never dreamed about my wedding growing up because I always kind of dreaded it. I never imagined a Disney wedding would have been possible. At this point in the day, the wedding was more than halfway over, and it was basically going perfectly. Everything was going according to plan. No one was fighting or bickering. It was just simply magical at this point. My parents had a church/banquet wedding in Chicago and they say it's one of their biggest regrets. If they could do it again, they would have gone to Vegas. So basically, I guess the lesson is do what you want for your wedding.

About an hour or so into the dinner, my sister then felt obligated to speak, even though again, I never requested it. She told the story of how Mike and I met and it was riddled with inaccuracies. hehehe
wedding079.jpg

She told Mike he was the brother she never had and then they hugged. Now you have to understand that Mike and my sister are like oil and water and constantly make fun of each other and bicker. So after the speech, when Mike motioned her to come over for a hug....I knew it was "pink elephants on parade" for Michael :rotfl: Soon enough dinner was over and it was time for the dessert party...with an open bar O_O

Bluezoo looks so nice!!!!! I wish I liked seafood:rotfl: I know I have said this so many times in your TR, but everything just looks so amazing!!

I love the pic of you and Mike kissing behid the wine rack. The reception dinner was beautiful, and all of the food looks delicious :)
I'm so happy that you really did have your dream wedding and that everything went smoothly.
