tell me about it! haha

I am getting my ap's in feb and want to do another trip in early summer... but then i looked at prices of local campsites etc and for easter hols they were very much cheaper!

so the easter hols are running i think 2010 from the
2nd to the 18th ish april.

when are the french easter hols? same time?

whats the weather like etc....
anyone been that can give advice? do they do anything easterish on easter day?

thank you

Ours ( here in Wales ) are break up Fri 26th March and go back to school on Mon 12th April

there is a thread somewhere that says when French school hols are

not been for easter hols before

x

we went in easter holidays last year and it was packed especially with locals so I think they are the same time.

weather was VERY wet the same as it was back home. the weather there is usually the same as it is here the same time of year.

We have been for the past 4 Easters - and apart from this yr have done weeks on a campsite and a few days at DLP. We stay at Berny Riviere which is about an hr away but a lovely campsite. Have a read of my TRs from last yr and the yr before

There is a link to the French school holidays in the FAQ sticky

Not all schools in the UK have the same Easter hols - some like DDs school have the traditional 2 weeks with Easter weekend in the middle but some go for a Spring break - usally in April. French schools usually have a spring break so may not be off for a long break but will usually have Easter weekend

We did Easter this year, arriving on Good Friday and leaving Easter Monday.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday were busy like Christmas but Easter Monday was absolutely manic - similar to Boxing Day.

We have dream ap's so arrived every morning at 8 and planned each morning with running to BTM and grabbing as many fastpasses as possible.

We were advised that the French celebrate Easter on the Monday - at the small stage/viewing point behind the castle seats, there was a Easter chicken (not a disnery character) and there was a queue of about 100 to have their photo taken :scared1:

We left in the afternoon, and when we arrived at the Eurotunnel it was absolute chaos, when we finally got through UK passports, they advised us that Easter Monday was their busiet day of the year.

eaks!!! oh i dont know what to do...

during the easter hol dates there is a lovely campsite within hour for a whole week for £129.
such a good deal... any other dates it jumps to like £600..

i cant really take ben out of school anymore as he will be in y1..

so would have been perfect... but i dont want to go when its macic either,

It depends when your half-term is. We went in 2007 when our half-term was the last full week of October so it didn't include the 31st nor 1st Nov which is a French public holiday and found it was the quietest of all our trips as we're used to going in August but if your half-term includes the 31st/1st then it will be very busy.

my half term does include those dates... but planned to go to france from saturday 23rd.. going home on fri 29th...

in park prob.. mon/tue/wed
then other days seeing local sites?

October half term 2008 was busier than 2007 due the 31st being in the following week in 2007

However as you are avoiding the weekends, it should be better.

We arrived on the sunday afternoon last October and gave up at hotel check in time and decided to plan for the Monday morning. Everything was busy but okay on the weekdays, but it did get busier as the week went on.

Easter Monday and Boxing day are definitely the busiest I have seen but I have never been therefore for 31 October.
