Last year we went on my birthday & feel Crystal Palace(decorating the tables & singing) & 1900 Park Fare(crowns & singing)were the best in celebrating a birthdays. We are HUGE character meal fans & have done them all! We will be there on my DD4's birthday this year. With the Celebrate theme are there any other character meals that are a must for birthday celebrating & if so what are the things they do? Thanks in advance!!

Here is what we have experienced at Chef Mickey's my kids received an autographed, take home place mat and cupcake.

At 'Ohana my kids got cupcakes

Not a character meal but at Whispering Canyon Cafe all the children in the restaurant were brought to my son and they all sang him happy birthday (they brought him a dessert and he got to blow out a candle). Another time, our friend's daughter got to lead the everyone in the restaurant in the chicken dance.

Have fun!

THANKS!! I figured Chef Mickey's would do something special too, just never been for a birthday yet! It sounds very much like what 1900 does! Sounds good!!!

I would recommend dinner at the Garden Grill. I had a birthday meal there a couple of weeks ago (I was turning 24), and I had a great time. All of the characters made a big deal about it being my birthday, which was a lot of fun. I also got one of those little birthday cake things (about the size of a cupcake, but not a cupcake), which was surprisingly tasty. The waitress sang happy b'day to me, and I got to blow out the candle. I was also given one of those cute cards with all of the characters' sigs in it. I had a blast there (it was our first time to eat there - we love the rotating, the food, the characters). If I had that much fun as a (childlike) adult, I'm sure a little kid would have a great time. :)

We did my ds's 4th B-day at CM in March and all they did was bring cupcakes out to everyone in the restaurant celebrating B-days and sang to all at once. There was no autographed placemat for him? :sad1: That would have been nice.

We ate there, too, during my bday trip (July 4). I just got a cupcake - no placemat. I didn't hear a group sing a long either. :confused3

We celebrated 3 birthdays at the same meal at Crystal Palace a few weeks ago. They were great! The table had mini-streamers and mickey face confetti all over the table and at the end of our meal, the waiter brought cupcakes with candles and birthday cards signed by all 4 of the Pooh characters. My kids LOVED it!

I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Chef Mickey's!! We ate their for the first time in 9 trips on our most recent vacation, and we loved it! If it's your birthday, they will bring out a Mickey plate of cupcakes, and the whole restaurant gets involved in the celebration with waving their napkins around and singing. It's a blast. The food is great too. Definitely do Chef Mickey's-- It just might be our favorite restaurant in all of WDW!

Chef Mickey does awesome birthdays, I would go anytime of the year, we love Chef Mickey

THANKS so much for all the info. We booked Chef Mickey's Crystal Palace & 1900 Parkfare. I am worried about Chef Mickey's now since some people say it was a little bit negative. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Garden Grill. It may be out favorite character meal of all so I could change to that for the birthday. Anyone else have a recent b-day there??? THANKS again!!!

At Chef Mickey's they will give a cupcake and that's it. (I asked our waiter about it...he said they don't do the placemats anymore. That was in June.) As far as the singing, the characters do a song and waving of the napkins every so often, and that's when they try to bring out the cupcakes. (Our waiter said "If I'd have known it was her birthday, I'd have gone ahead and brought her cupcake."

I would also recommend Garden Grill. That's where we went for my birthday dinner. They didn't decorate the table, but my DD and I both got cupcakes plus our desserts (our birthdays are back-to-back). Another waiter came to our table and very loudly announced that it was our birthday ("I'd like to bring everyone's attention to a young lady and her [looked at me] uh...twin sister!...who are celebrating a birthday today!") The song was a birthday version of "Hakuna Matata" and he sang to both of us, not just my DD. I believe we got cards there signed by all of the characters.

We did Crystal Palace for DD's birthday breakfast. They sprinkled confetti on the table (done before we got there), and we got a cupcake and a card with the character signatures on it.

CRT was DD's requested place for her birthday dinner. Confetti was brought out AFTER we were seated. I got another cupcake. (I'd ordered DD the slipper dessert.)

I would like to note that, if they paid attention to the fact that there was a birthday, they would bring your dessert plate out with "Happy Birthday" written on it in chocolate if they didn't bring cupcakes.

I met one lady who said her son's birthday was that week...there were cupcakes and singing and whatnot at every TS meal...and there were times they were escorted to the front of the line for rides and just general other it's your special time happiness....that they were getting really sick and tired of. Other than occassional cupcakes and tons of "Happy Birthday" wishes -- plus all the questioning of "It can't be your birthday AND your daughter's birthday", there were no extra-special surprises. I'd even requested the autographed pic of a favorite character for the resort room on DD's birthday, and that didn't happen. (2nd time in as many trips I've made that request and it hasn't happened.)

I KNEW all of my searching would result in answers! We're going for my daughters 9th birthday and was hoping to find out what they do at certain places to celebrate. She does not like characters (Heck, she won't even sit on Santa's lap...she stands about two feet to the side), but we do have these ADRs, so if anybody knows how they celebrate and would like to share, I'd appreciate it. Also, if there are other suggestions, I welcome them because I want her to have an amazing time.

Whispering Canyon for dinner
Ohana for dinner
1900 Park Fare for dinner
Akershus for dinner
Tepan Edo for lunch
Sci-Fi for lunch

As a side note, I was thinking about canceling TE and Sci-Fi, especially if there is somewhere else that would be super fun to celebrate a birthday.
