Hello all you lovely Disney brides and brides to be!

We booked our Disney Wedding (escape package, WDW) in April this year for October 2010. It's a bit annoying that we have to wait until NEXT MARCH for Disney to confirm the actual date, *** it means we can't get on with a load of things (we are in UK) but we are very excited about it!

I am loving checking this forum for things I need to find out more about, and just wanted to say hi!

We are taking our little boy with us, and he'll be nearly four, so if anyone has any hints and tips on how to make the day extra special for him too, then that would be great!

WELCOME! I am an October Escape bride too, only in 2009! So feel free to ask me any October/Escape questions as they come up!

Congrats on picking my favorite month for weddings! (Although truth be told... I may be biased!):rolleyes1

So what day? What have you picked out - details! We love details... and pictures! popcorn::

Welcome to the boards!

Welcome...I just have one quick question how did you get to book so early for October 2010?

Welcome...I just have one quick question how did you get to book so early for October 2010?

I was wondering this too!!
Congratulations to you Sunset. I am planning my VR in May 2011 and have benn told I cannot do anything until 8 months out!!! It's a real pain

Thanks for the welcome guys!
LOL, you are all right, Disney will not confirm the date until 8 months out, but we have had to book the holiday package so far in advance, so we have already got our REQUEST in with Disney. We are HOPING for the 10th October, and it's driving me mad that we won't know until march next year!

On the other hand, we have put all the booking forms in, so that's kind of exciting, and I am making invites (without the wording - they are so cool, in the shape of the Mickey Mouse head!) Shall I post a picture? and also little guest bags, with all kinds of disney and wedding things for the guests!

Is it possibe to be too excited????

Just wanted to say congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

You should definitely post pictures of all the things you are planning/creating - I love to see anything Disney wedding related :)

Well thanks for answering the question...That 10th of October is becoming such a popular day that it makes me NERVOUS!

Well thanks for answering the question...That 10th of October is becoming such a popular day that it makes me NERVOUS!

I think that they said in previous years, Valentines Day and New Year's Eve were the most popular wedding dates. Well in recent years ) 07-07-07 and 08-08-08 were the most popular wedding dates of the whole year. (They both happened to fall on the weekend)

(Not so much on June 6, 2006, but I think a horror movie came out)

I'll cross my fingers and my toes that you both get the date, time and location of your dreams!

Welcome and congratulations!

I have a son as well (he's 11 years old) and we've found several ways to keep him involved in our special day. Here's what we're doing to incorporate Gavin:

- He's escorting me down the aisle and "giving me away" during the ceremony
- He's Brian's best man
- We have incorporated "family vows" in the ceremony - vows between Brian and Gavin
- All three of us will be lighting the unity candle

Your little guy is a bit younger, but there are lots of ways he can participate!

Thanks for all of that!

we are a bit nervous that Oct 10 2010 will be too popular BUT we have requested early, and apparently that WILL help. If ALL else fails, we have a back up date, but we are really hoping to get 10/10/10. Are sunday weddings popular in USA? They are not so much the thing over here.

Thanks for the ideas for our son. We are waiting to see what he'll be able to manage when the time comes, but we are planing on having him bring the rings etc

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but from all I've read and heard that if multiple requests are made for the same date, the decision is made via a lotto system, rather than first come, first serve. So that could be a positive or a negative.

The question is where at WDW do you want to get married? I'm sure the WP will be a popular choice but there are a TON of other venues that will be more likely to be open. Same thing for reception sites (are you even having one as a escape?) Also I think there are some venues that are only open to Escape brides because of the size (unless you have a VERY small wishes wedding). I'm sure if you're flexible, you'll be able to find a place to get married on the day of your choice.

PS I can't wait to read more!

Oh! I am getting so anxious about the date now, and I can't even know until NEXT MARCH!!!!!! :sad1:

We've picked the Yacht Club Gazebo as the location - fingers crossed that's less popular and they'll have space for us on 10th Oct!

You know, I think if you are open to different times or possibly changing your location for the sake of 10-10-10, the people at Disney will be accommodating.:flower3: Sunday weddings are not as popular in the United States, but I think all of those traditional rules fly out the window for destination weddings particularly in Disney.

Hi! I've already made my request with disney and even though my wedding date is 2 years away they are still (for some reason) holding my date. I guess it all depends on who you talk to I guess.

Wow! You are lucky!:)

I have e mailed one of the co ordinators at Disney for advice on it all. Our travel agents here in the UK are a bit hopeless and told us we could book and get the date sorted straight away - turns out they don't do a lot of DISNEY weddings, but they do a lot of FLORIDA weddings and they just assumed it was the same thing!!!!!:headache: You can imagine that having been told that booking early would guarentee us the date and we would hear in a couple of weeks (and this was in APRIL 2009) we are very upset that this is in fact totally made up based on what other locations in Florida do!

They even offered us to change the location to make up for them being so hopeless BUT, it's not like anywhere else will be the same as Disney! I don't think they get it!

I am hoping that the people at Disney will be a bit helpful. I mean I know that if they don't book the dates then they don't, but just maybe they might have a bit of good advice or something

I don't think they really "hold" the date until a year out for Wishes Weddings, escape I think is 8 months, I don't know if it's different for those in the UK. My planner said they put my request in for 8/17/10 but I won't know until next month if I got it. I did ask if anyone else requested that date and ceremony time and it doesn't seem like it, if someone else should request it, they would do a lottery on that day to determine who gets it.

7/07/07 was very popular because 7 is considered a lucky number
8/08/08 was very popular because it is a lucky number in Asian culture, 8 means money or wealth, so 888 would be lucky for wealth.

Even though I don't think 10/10/10 means anything in particular, it does seem to be pretty popular and it's a Saturday, which is always harder to get. As long as you are flexible with your location and time it shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck getting your date and time and you should start a planning journal for all your wedding plans!

Luckily 10/10/10 is a SUNDAY, so it MIGHT be less popular (the planner said if we were flexible with the times she couldn't forsee a problem)
it's no different for UK people either, just that my travel agent didn't have a clue, she thought disney would be just the same as all the other Florida venues they work with!
