Is tax added to the DDP when staying DVC?

I am curious. IF you add the dining plan on for say 2 adults for 5 nights would you be taxed on that or not? We have never used the dining plan while staying DVC but we are getting the CS plan for our two nights at the Poly before switching to BCV.

Well the reason I asked this is...we are staying two nights at the Poly before moving over to the BCV. We have two ressies for two rooms. Our kids are in one (dd is 18) and so we added the Counter Service plan to their room yesterday. The original room price with tax for two nights with a military discount was 479.26 includding tax. So I thought when we added the 29.99 for each kid for two nights we would be adding an additional 179.94 for a new total of 659.20 but our grand total was 672.65. Not a huge amt. but I was curious as to why it was more. Now they did rebook a package in order for us to add the dining.....so I guess that is why there are other fees. You get some extras like a 15 buck voucher for Planet Hollywood, a free round of mini golf and I think 30 min. rental on a watercraft when you purchase 30 min.

WHen you book the DDP through a cash reservation, it is part of an overall travel package. The total amount of that travel package is taxed.

I know it is strange that the packages tax the DDP and DVC does not, just some glitch in the system, I guess.

We stayed at DVC on an exchange in June and paid tax on our 7-night QSDP, although the CC receipt is not broken down. (If the extra cost wasn't taxes, it was sure a hefty fee).

What you perceived as taxes may very well have been the $95 incoming exchange resort service fee that Disney/DVC charges to all incoming RCI/II exchanges, whether or not you have the Dining Plans.

I finally got around to doing the arithmetic and I think you're correct that it was the exchange fee. Very odd that it's not broken down to show that -- the whole amount is listed on the folio as "Quick Plan."
