I've been reading that refurbishment on the YC rooms began in June with the 5th floor rooms. If I were to book YC CL for mid-August, could I expect to get a "new" room?

CL (fifth floor) are completely done now!

We just added 2 days on to our vacation thanks to the 35% rate, and we decided to go with the Beach Club! My ddis really excited after seeing pics of SAB! And she really wants to go to Beaches and Cream. Is the kitchen sink a ridiculous goal for a family of four?

Yes it is but there's no better place to be ridiculous Don't forget to take pictures.

johnsonnet - I posted on the YC refurbed not too long ago...There is another thread on the YC. I was told was short of a disaster they would have all rooms updated by the end of October. Someone also posted some pics but the rooms didn't look totally finished to me - bedding wasn't completed yet...I booked for early December at YC. First trip there...

Looking forward to my first stay at the Beach Club in 2 weeks...and we are staying Club Level to boot! Just wondering if anyone knows what some of the recent evening hot items have been in the lounge...And is it true, no more krispy kreme donuts in the morning too?

Oh and what are my chances of getting a room with a daybed? I'm traveling with my mom and adult cousin and we would all really like our own beds. I have already requested one.

Teena or anyone else going to CL YC could you post pics of the finished product? Teena so kindly posted pics last week but the bedding on the bed wasn't complete yet. I am trying to get myself sold on the new look for YC....like the complete bedding is going to do it...but honestly that could be all it takes for me!!! thanks M

Oh! Oh! Oh! So excited! I didn't know there were activities like that around SAB. Our trip is in mid-December, will they still have the campfire sing-a-long and movie at night or will they have some other holiday activity instead?

Teena (do you hate seeing your name yet, we all call you 100 times a day on this board!) - can you tell me if the CARPET was replaced in the YC rooms along with the refurbs (I know they aren't done yet but as the rooms do get updated does teh carpet get replaced also?). thanks! Melissa

I think I might have just replied to you in the CL thread, but here it is again. I posted this on the old BC/YC thread as well a few days ago:

The BC CL lounge is on the small side, but the staff members were great and despite the lines, they did an excellent job of keeping food stocked.

Mornings there were cinnamon rolls, mini muffins, bagels, toast, coffee (Nescafe machine with numerous choices) juices, cereals, milk, melon, apples, oranges, and bananas.

Mid day was sodas or coffee, kettle chips and yogurt covered pretzels.

Evening appetizers varied - the days we were there I saw chicken skewers, bacon wrapped scallops, spring rolls, crab rangoons and duck quesadillas. Usually 2 white wines, 2 reds & a white zinfandel.

We only went for cordials and desserts once - there were a few types of layered dessert parfaits in little plastic cups, and a few liqueurs - I remember Amarula and Grand Marnier but there were 1 or 2 others. There were some folks there that night that had checked in late and asking for wine and they were accomodated graciously by the staff.

On a couple of occasions the staff offered my kids Nesquik chocolate milk. I also saw people grabbing sodas from the console underneath the juices in the morning, and finally one day a child was asking for the gluten free waffles his dad had requested. So I know that it's possible to ask for things that aren't out.

And just to confirm, no, I did not see Krispy Kremes in the AM, but my kids LOVED the cinnamon rolls.

All new carpet in the rooms definitely as the rooms get refurbed. As far as beds being "finished", they are done except for the bed scarfs. I agree with you though ... although I'm in the minority, I preferred the old bedspreads. Have no idea how long it will be until the scarfs get here.

In fact we stopped in while we were there in June, eventhough I never posted a question for you I just always wondered who this super nice lady was that everyone was always asking questions too!!! They are on the fourth floor now. Although I don't know the complete schedule of which rooms are being done week to week, I would doubt (and that's a definitely guess) that you are going to get a "new" room on the first floor the first week of August. You could try to switch to the BC and get a first floor "new" room. Those rooms were all done last year.

Thanks Melissa for those nice words. I hope I'm there when you're there this time. Since I'm retired, I seem to find a "trip" to take every month. Therefore, it seems like one Sunday/Monday each month I'm off somewhere (the majority of the time visiting my daughter in Las Vegas). Last week, this week and next week they asked me to give them extra days and I've been working Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Today a friend of mine and I after work went to see the new Hall of Presidents. It was really really good. Totally redone!! Anyway, my feet are not accustomed to standing on that hard floor four days in a row and are screaming to soak them tonight!!

Starting this Friday, they are serving a Counter Service or Quick Service (whatever you want to call it) at Beaches & Cream every morning. They have an eggs, bacon and toast platter, a pancakes and bacon platter, an omelete and a few other items including some children platters. Prices are very reasonable and it also counts as a Quick Service/Counter Service on the meal plan. The manager there told me that the cut off is 11 AM sharp. Even if there is a line, at 11 AM sharp, no one else gets served, even if you are next in line. This is because they have to turn it completely around for the lunch service at Beaches & Cream and of course after 11 AM, anything you get there is back to being a Table Service on the meal plan.

I think this will go over wonderfully and is a fantastic addition to the Y&B Club!!! I'm really excited about it!

FANTASTIC! That's the only thing I didn't like about the Y&B club was the lack of good breakfast choices...any idea if this is a permanent addition or just something temporary?
