Easter Crowds + Lots of Fun Anyway= One Magical Trip and a Completed Trip Report!!:)

Angie:

What about something leafy for the Jungle Book theme? Wouldn't work at my house since Hunter is a picky eater but how about your boys? Let me think a little bit more and see if I can come up with something else.

Lisa

I can not, for the life of me, think of a main dish. I tried to think of some kind of sandwich and all I could think of was a great big thick "Papa Bear" sandwich. I did come up with a few other things though.

How about:

Jungle Juice: Some kind of punchy drink.

Sherkan cookies (Is that how you spell the tiger's name?): These could be sugar cookies with orange food coloring and black stripes.

Animal crackers 'cause they have all kinds of animals

I'll keep thinking. Can you tell I used to do kid's parties?

I like the "Papa Bear" sandwich idea!! What a good idea!:thumbsup2 I'll look into the Jungle Juice to see what I can come up with. The boys would love helping to make the cookies so I will put that on my list also.
Thanks, Lisa:goodvibes

You're welcome! I was actually telling Hunter this weekend (on the way home from our fabulous Old Navy shopping trip) how some people had Disney movie night complete with Disney themed foods. When he asked me for more details, I told him...you know like spaghetti for Lady and the Tramp night, fish sticks for Nemo night. Mr. Picky-Eaters response? I guess we'll just have to watch Toy Story every time 'cause I don't like anything but pizza. Ugggh! I hate picky eaters.

Hmmmm, this may be stretching it a little bit, but how about their favorite ice cream with wormy bugs or snakes ?
Hey-I like that!! I think I saw a recipe like that somewhere, but they add oreos to look like dirt and then you put gummy worms so they look like they are crawling out of the dessert. Hmm.....the boys are going to be so happy when they see this.:thumbsup2

Possible activities? My kids would enjoy these two. :)

Safari Slurp - Place animal crackers/cookies in a pile beside a small bowl. Have straws available for each player, along with a stopwatch, or a watch with a second hand. Using the straw as a vacuum, each contestant tries to pick up the animals and drop them into the bowl. The student with the fastest time wins.

Ticklish Tiger - Using a stuffed tiger, play this jungle variation on the classic Hot Potato game. Have players sit in a circle, and pass the tiger until the music stops. The player left holding the tiger when the music stops is out. Keep passing it until only one player is left.

Great ideas!!!:thumbsup2 Thank you!! Thank you!! I couldn't think of anything and these are perfect!!!:goodvibes Okay, I'm so excited now--the boys are going to love this!!!:woohoo:

I know it's horrible when you have picky eaters!!! Both my boys can be very picky!!! But they love their desserts so your ideas will be perfect!! Luckily they like spaghetti so we can definitely do a Lady and the Tramp night. Finding Nemo is another favorite of ours but we probably won't do it because they won't touch any kind of fish.:confused3 Why do kids have to be so difficult sometimes?.....hmmm.....

Sunday, April 19th--Day 4

By this time in the trip, we had figured out a whole strategy for the QSDP. Since you are given 2 snack credits per day per person, there was more than enough credits to use for breakfast every morning. So after grabbing some coffee for DH and myself, some juice for the boys and a muffin for all of us, we were off to explore Epcot. Our plan, like every other morning on this trip was to arrive before opening. Last year, after much research--I knew to run for fastpasses for Soarin' first thing. Unfortunately, last year DH didn't get the whole fastpass thing and thought it would be okay if we checked out Nemo and Friends for the boys first and then we could all walk over to The Land and we could get fastpasses then. The boys of course were so excited to see Nemo, that I reluctantly agreed as I watched the mass of people move ahead of us on their way to Soarin'. Needless to say by the time we made it out of The Seas with Nemo and friends last year if was around 11:00-11:30pm and by the time we were able to check for fastpasses for Soarin' the return time was between 3:00pm-4:00pm. What?....:confused3 But it was during Spring Break last year so I guess that was expected. We ended up not getting a fastpass because we had a Chef Mickey's ADR at 5:00pm and we had planned to go back to Pop first. The stand-by line was really long and there was so much we wanted to see we ended up skipping the ride all together. I was very disappointed and wasn't too happy with DH.:sad2: But I didn't let it ruin the rest of our day and it was a lesson learned.
So anyway, fast-forward to this year and I was determined to ride Soarin'! By this time DH was well aware of the importance of Fast pass and especially on the most popular rides. So he had agreed to take the boys over to Test Track to wait for me, while I ran with the crowds of people to Soarin' first thing and grab a fastpass. Here is a picture of the character as we are waiting for the park to open.... sorry they are so far away--I was still trying to figure out my darn camera and didn't get the whole zoom feature without blurriness figured out until the next day-DHS day.

100_0903.jpg

Once the park finally opened I trekked it over to get the fastpasses as quickly as I could. But boy, it was quite a walk!! I'm tired just thinking about it.:sad2: So huffing and puffing...... I walk up to DH and the boys who are not so patiently waiting for me so we can ride Test Track (which they love by the way) DS6 says "Mom, what took you so long?" I finally catch my breath and tell him that it was on the other side of the park, that I hurried as fast as I could go. He grabbed my hand and started pulling me toward the entrance. Here is a picture of the outside as we were walking toward TT--
100_0910.jpg

Here is a picture just as we walked inside...(didn't get more--darn video camera again;))
100_0906.jpg

Okay a quick detour--I'm sure you have noticed how many times that I have pulled out the video camera but no additional pictures were taken. You are probably asking yourself--Why didn't see just let her DH take pictures.:confused3 Well.....I was afraid they would be blurry, or our heads would be cut off in the picture...hmmm.... DH doesn't take the best pictures...sorry honey:rolleyes1
Back to the report:goodvibes We had such a great time riding Test Track, we got back in line to ride it again!! The boys love-love-love this ride!! It was so funny because I really wanted to get a ride picture of us but every time we rode it, I was always turned around looking at DS6 asking him if he had fun. So when we would come out and check the pictures my head was always turned. You would think I would have learned after doing it the first time..:confused3
After getting off Test Track a second time, it was time to ride Soarin'! I was so excited, that the walk back over there this time didn't seem quite as long as it did before. A picture as we were heading toward The Land....
100_0920.jpg

I must have been spoiled by all the other fastpass lines because this was the only time that we got in line and instead of cruising up to the front like normally. We waited....and waited..... (hmm....this feels like a theme to my report-I should have named it--The we waited and waited and waited TR.:lmao:) Anyway, we must have waited a while because I heard someone in front of us asking his wife if they had gotten in the wrong line.:confused3 We finally reached the front and lined up ready to board.....so excited....so excited!!! We made our way to our seats and buckled up and we were ready to go!! Let me just say this ride is awesome!!! It was so much better than I had read and so realistic. Wow!! I loved smelling the oranges and even moved my feet a couple times as we went over trees and mountains. I knew to expect the golf ball but DS6 didn't and it definitely surprised him, but he got such a kick out of it. :lmao:Now, I realize the necessity of grabbing a fastpass or riding first thing--it's such a great ride.:thumbsup2
After Soarin', we decided to ride Living with the Land--Now we really like this ride but here's a quick tip. Do not follow the crowd of people as they get off Soarin' and head to Living with the Land. (the stand-by line will be very long!!) If you wait just a few minutes...shop or grab something to eat and then get in line--it will be much shorter. We realized this after the ride as we were eating our lunch and there was hardly anyone in line. Here are a few pictures of Living with the Land---

100_0918.jpg

It was close to noon when we got off Living with the Land so we decided to stop at Sunshine Seasons for some lunch. I was looking forward to trying this place since I had read that it had a good selection of foods not typical of the usual counter-service stuff. DS6 of course picked out PB&J with applesauce and I think grapes?? DS9 always has hard time deciding when it comes to so many choices. He eventually decided on the kids sweet and sour chicken. DH and I decided to get the half of rotisserie chicken with carrots and mashed potatoes and strawberry shortcake for dessert--yum!! The chicken was very juicy and tender--- I didn't find it had a lot of flavor but I enjoyed it over all. It was just very different than the rotisserie chicken that I usually have. Here is a picture of DS6 enjoying his meal.
100_0922-1-1.jpg

We sat not in the main seating but off to the side closer to the Living with the Land ride. It was not as busy and definitely quieter!!--Here is a picture inside The Land--

continued on next post----
Up Next--Seas with Nemo and Friends!!

After lunch at Sunshine Seasons we decided to head back to The Seas w/Nemo so that we could finally see Turtle Talk w/ Crush, which we had missed the first day.We stopped along the way to get some pictures of the boys.
100_0928-1.jpg

100_0931.jpg

I wanted to get a picture of the boys in with Bruce again but the line was pretty long so I got these pictures instead--I don't know why they turned out so dark..:confused3
100_0932-1.jpg

100_0933-1.jpg

After checking out the area with Bruce, we headed to Turtle Talk and while the boys played in interactive area, I snapped a few more pictures--
100_0934.jpg

100_0936.jpg

It was finally time to go inside and DS6 had his question all ready in case he was picked--it was so cute!!! But unfortunately he wasn't this time, but I told him to remember it because he might be picked when we went back. We had a great time--Crush is so funny!!!:rotfl: We love Turtle Talk!!!
100_0938.jpg

Another picture of the boys--Can you tell they were getting tired of having their pictures taken?:lmao:
100_0940.jpg

100_0943.jpg

We eventually came to a tank with a huge Sea Turtle and it kept swimming right up to us and then it would circle back and do it again. It was so cool and I tried desperately to get a picture of this darn turtle but I couldn't seem to figure out the right setting on my camera. It kept coming out blurry because he was moving too fast but when I put it on the sports setting it was so dark in there it still wouldn't come out. So I finally gave up and switched on my video camera. So here's my attempt at posting a video.(I hope it works)--just click on it.:)

The boys wanted to go back and play in the Innovention buildings but first we wanted to check out the Imagination Pavilion. We decided to skip HISTK because of the snake. (remember DH and DS??) Instead we decided to ride Figment. We enjoyed the ride, the boys more than us.;) The only thing DS6 told us was that he didn't like the puff of air at the end, which he said "totally freaked him out":rotfl:

Since we were right near one of the boats to cross over to the WS, we decided to head to Morocco. If you remember, this year we decided to all pick a country that we were most interested in learning more about. DS6 picked Mexico, DS9 picked Japan, DH picked Germany-which we had started to explore the first day but wanted to finish today and I chose Morocco. Again, I didn't get many pictures during this time--I'm not sure why.:confused3 I think the boys were starting to get cranky and really wanted to head back to Innoventions so we finally gave in, took the boat back across and spent some more time in Innoventions before we headed out for the day. We had planned to head to DTD that night for dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express and do a little shopping. Since it was already almost 3:00pm, we thought we should call it a day. One more picture before heading out for the day....
100_0949-1.jpg

Next up--DTD--where's the bus??

Sounds like a great day so far! Epcot is easily our favorite park! So glad you got to ride Soarin....it is such a great ride!

We love Crush too. Jonah has been lucky enough to get chosen on both of our visits. Too cute! I laugh at Dory getting smooshed into the glass every time! That never gets old for me! :rotfl:

I can totally tell your boys are done with the whole picture-taking thing! LOL! Too bad boys....suck it up! ;)

No WS pics?? :sad2: Morocco is my FAVORITE!! I could wander around there for a very long time and be a happy girl! :)

Can't wait to hear about your DTD evening! popcorn::

Two great updates Angie. Somehow, I never take as many pictures in World Showcase. I don't why? Looking forward to your next installment.

After reading your report updates, I'm off to find out exactly what Soarin' is -- I've heard great things, but I don't know what exactly the ride is! Off to find out - Thanks for the updates!

Great pictures! Yes, your boys do look mightily impressed in that one shot eh? Test Track and Soarin are definate favorites and one of my goals this trip is to ride Soarin in the front row. I took video of it and it turned out fabulous, but our equipment malfunction lost it all. :headache: Can't wait to get back!

Waiting for more!

Epcot is one of my favorites as well.:goodvibes But, unfortunately we have never really spent as much time exploring WS as I would like. The boys love Future World and by the time that we make our way over to the WS, they are usually getting tired and cranky.

Sadly, I looked through all my pictures and can't find any WS from that day. :confused3 I probably got some of it on video but I took so many little clips here and there--that I am still going through them and trying to get them organized into one complete video-:rolleyes1

Thanks, Lisa:) I know--it's so strange looking over my pictures from this trip and last year's. There is very little pictures of the WS.:confused3 I don't know if I'm just so busy looking at the sights or if it's because the boys start getting cranky and taking pictures is the last thing that I want to do?? I'm hoping with a few incentives this trip, they will enjoy the WS more.

Thanks for reading.:goodvibes Soarin' is such a fun ride!! You will love it!! It's basically a huge IMAX theater but you are lifted up in the air so it actually feels like you are flying. It's Disney so there are tons of special effects. I'm so happy I finally got to ride...it's so fun!! I could go on and on about it.:rotfl:
You could check You Tube to see if you can get an idea of what the ride will be like.(that's what we did;))

I kept telling them that they could at least look a little happy--we were at Disney after all.:rotfl: They were having a great time but I admit I was taking a lot of pictures! (I only posted a few from that day;)) We love Test Track and Soarin'!! We are very excited to be bringing along the family so they can experience them for the first time.:thumbsup2 Sorry about the equipment malfunction.:sad2: Hopefully you can get another great video when you go back....:goodvibes

Happy 4th of July!!!!!!

I wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday weekend!!!

I also thought I would share a few pictures of last nights fireworks---(I figured it would be good practice for Wishes as I can never seem to get good fireworks shots:rotfl:)

A picture of the boys waiting for the fireworks to begin. We had to wait in the car because it was raining...:sad2:Luckily it stopped just in time.:)
100_1238-1.jpg

Here are few of the better pictures I took of the fireworks.

Okay--off to get the boys ready to go to the parade!! :)

Happy 4th of July! :sunny:

Pics look great!

Thanks:goodvibes I thought it would be great practice for Wishes and Illuminations.(never been to Illuminations but hoping to in August.:thumbsup2) You know how much I love taking pictures;) Any excuse I can for taking out my camera-- I will.:rotfl:

Can you believe I forgot to take my camera to our Canada Day fireworks?! :faint:

But I must thank you because you prompted me to find the setting on my new camera to take high speed continuous shots for fireworks and I found it! I tested it out (on passing traffic in front of my house :rotfl:) and it works great. I have two options, one shutter click that takes 15 pictures but then takes over 20 seconds to get ready for more, or one shutter click that takes 6 pictures but then gets ready for more after almost 10 seconds. I think I like the second option better.

What!?! You forgot to take your camera?......;)

I agree--I think the second option would probably work better.:thumbsup2 That's so funny that you tried it out on the passing traffic out front.:rotfl: Hey--it worked, right? I'm sure they didn't suspect a thing.:lmao:

After heading back from Epcot, the boys were begging us to let them go for another quick swim. DH wanted to take a quick nap so I offered to bring the boys down and he could catch up with us later on. He must of grabbed the camera because here is a picture of us in the computer pool-
100_0951.jpg

After our swim, we changed and headed down to the bus stop to catch a bus to DTD for some dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express and some shopping!!!!I love to shop!! DH and the boys not so much.
So as we stepped into the line for DTD, we noticed a few irritated people at the very front of the line. Apparently they had been waiting for a bus to DTD for awhile. So again, we waited...and waited (see the theme again.:rotfl:) We had probably waited for about a half hour and remember they had been there waiting longer than us. Finally a bus pulled up for Animal Kingdom (I believe that's the stop next to the DTD bus stop) Anyways, one of the guys who was waiting at the front of the line went over to the AK bus and asked if there was any way they could send a bus for DTD because we had all been waiting awhile-- I heard a couple near us call up one of the restaurants that they had an ADR for to see if there was anyway they could get a later time because they had already missed their reservation. Finally, a bus showed up and there was literally applause from everyone!! To be clear, this was just one incident at Pop. Overall during our stay bus service was great with this exception, we never had to wait for a bus. So I guess it was just one of those things.......

When we arrived the first thing that we wanted to do was get something to eat. It was around 6:00pm at this time so we made our way over to Wolfgang Puck Express. I was so looking forward to trying this place!! I had heard such great things about it before we left. The first thing I noticed when we walked inside was how empty it was. I think that there was only one other couple and a family sitting inside. DH and I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the boys got pizza. We all wanted a brownie but all they had was cookies. We got our drinks and found a table. A server came by right away and welcomed us and then before you know it we had our salads and then soon after, spaghetti for us and pizza for the boys. Everything was so good!! The boys loved their pizza and ate it all right up!!:thumbsup2 DH declared this the best meal of the trip!! So with our bellies full we made our way out to begin shopping!!

We decided to head right to World of Disney!! I love this store--there is so much to choose from--almost too much!! But it's always so busy when we come here. Which sometimes makes it hard to find what you are looking for. But we ended up with some great purchases!! I got a t-shirt for myself, a bracelet that said "Nothing is impossible, if you believe", a photo album to hold all our pictures from the trip. (unfortunately it only holds 200 so I had to go out and buy a couple more plain ones when we got home). DH got some pajama pants, a hat, mickey ears for our car antenna, and key chain. DS6 got a stuffed Mickey (and informed me the other day that Mickey is getting really lonely for his Disney friends so he plans to buy a stuffed Goofy when we go back to keep him company.) That boy--he's too cute:cloud9: Anyways, he also got a Peter Pan and Aladdin play set. DS9 had already spent a lot of his money when we were in Epcot in Japan. (if you remember earlier in the trip, how I said he loves Pokemon--well I finally gave in and even though we were in Disney and I wanted to him to get Disney souvenirs-I decided to just let it go. I think he ended up with a Disney journal, some tattoos and a pen and pencil. Despite how busy it was, I think we managed to get alot of shopping accomplished:thumbsup2
Here is a picture of the outside of the World of Disney--
100_0960.jpg

We decided to head over to the Lego store after our successful shopping trip. We watched and let the boys play a little while with the legos out front. As you can see, I didn't get many pictures at DTD--but I never seem to. I guess I'm so busy shopping and looking for the right item that I forget to pull out the camera. First the WS earlier in the afternoon and now DTD--what is going on???.:confused3:......:lmao: Oh well... but I did remember to grab a quick picture of the boys.:lovestruc
100_0966.jpg

So now we were off to check out the new T-REX. Since we didn't have ADR but we wanted to check out the inside of the place. We decided to go in and let the boys make a dinosaur in Build-a-Dino. They had a great time!! But......now we had to carry these dinosaur houses back on the bus with us to Pop. I suppose we could have thrown the boxes away and just took out the dinosaurs.:rolleyes1 But the boys would hear nothing of it. No way!! They wanted to keep the houses!!! So armed with our Dinosaur houses we made our way back to Goofy's Candy shop so the boys could use some of there snack credits on some goodies. Last year they decided to get cookies and they added everything you can think of to those poor cookies. They were so sweet!! That after a few bites they wouldn't eat anymore. So this year I suggested that maybe they just get some pretzel rods and only add one or two things so ummm.......well maybe they would eat them this year.:rolleyes1 I know.....I'm no fun!! But it worked--when we got back to the room each actually ate a couple pretzel rods. I was very impressed!!!

So, we made it back to the room juggling all our stuff and then headed back to the food court to refill our mugs. I was very sad because I was all set to get my Frozen Coke again (I think I had either the first or the second night and it was so good and refreshing.) But the machines had been removed..what???:confused3 and in there place was tea???? Now, I like tea but I was really looking forward to my Frozen Coke--ugh....settled on the tea and made our way back to our room.
Here is a picture of DS and some of the dino houses we lugged back from DTD.
100_0967.jpg

If you remember from earlier--we were able to see the Epcot fireworks from our room on the 4th floor. They were very far away and the view wasn't as good as they are from the 50's section. But we thought it was really cool to go out on the balcony every night and watch them, after a long day at the parks.:thumbsup2 Well, or at least I thought it was cool. The boys were entertained for the first two nights but by this time in the trip, when I asked them if they wanted to come outside and watch them with me. DS9 said no, that he would prefer to play his Nintendo DS and DS6 was too busy playing with his playsets to even notice that I had asked.:confused3 So out I went alone and had a nice conversation with another guest who was staying a few rooms down from us. Apparently it was their nightly ritual too. (while the family waited inside the room:laughing:) Here are a few of the pictures I got again--Now, I'm kicking myself because I should have tried to get some closer shots but just getting them to come out not so blurry was a challenge for me.:rotfl:
100_0974.jpg

Well after the fireworks, we watched a bit of TV and then decided to go to bed early to get ready for our early breakfast at Chef Mickey's:dance3: We were all very excited!! We love this place!! Another great day at Disney!!! Next day was Day 5 and DHS!!!
Next up----A Chef Mickey's breakfast--wave those napkins!!!!

Angie, I looks like you had quite a successful shopping trip. I am so not a shopper.....until, I hit Disney World. I find that I never take many pictures of Downtown Disney. I vow I will do it this year though.;)

I think you did a fine job on your local fireworks and the fireworks at Pop. I'm going to try to get better with my nighttime pictures as they never seem to come out just right.

Looking forward to more.

My son soooo wants to try Wolfgang Puck. He loves watching Chef Gordon Ramsay and always wants to try the more extravagant dishes  Not in the cards this trip but something to look forward to on a future trip.

Your shopping excursion sounds very successful and that bracelet sounds lovely! I may try and find matching ones for my daughter and I, it is sooo something I would say.

You got a lot done but still sounded relaxed -- my kind of day!! :cool1:

It was a pretty successful shopping trip.:thumbsup2 I got pretty much everything that I wanted to pick up while we there, with the exception of my Christmas ornament. I had wanted to stop at the Christmas shop on the way out but decided against it because of those darn dinosaur houses!!

I hope to take more pictures this time in Downtown Disney too.:thumbsup2
