What else should I bring?

Hello everybody. I'm new to this board and have a question that I'm sure you will be able to answer. Reading other threads has been so helpful in planning our visit!
Anyway, we (DH, DD3 and myself) are leaving for our first WDW trip in 35 days... we're getting so excited! We'll be staying 9 nights in FW Cabins - leaving early AM on our departure day. I'm wondering if there is anything I should I bring to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. (I'm trying to prepare as much as possible in advance so I can relax and enjoy myself as much as possible once there.
Any "wish I had brought" thoughts? I'm thinking specifically kitchen stuff like utensils? Etc.? Or is it so well-equipped that our family of light eaters on a tight budget would be okay without having to bring anything extra from home? If you have any ideas, let me know... thanks!

Lots and Lots of Money :rotfl2: The number one thing to bring is patience. I learned this the hard way.

Welcome!

I think one of the things you will find that will work the best for you on your trip is that your DD3 can have some wind down time without being in a hotel room. I think you're going to truly enjoy the cabins and Fort Wilderness. It will allow you and your DH to relax in a way that you just can't do in a room with two beds. You might think about bringing a few things for DD to do outside. If she has a bike with training wheels and helmet you might want to bring it, a sand bucket and shovel for the beach, my DD loved sidewalk chalk at that age. Anything to keep her content without going full steam. It will give you and your DH a chance to sit outside and enjoy an adult beverage while she entertains herself.

The Fort is a very friendly place and she may make friends as other kids (maybe a little older) cruise by on there bikes. You can take your drink and head to the beach, relax in a beach chair while she chases the ducks and birds. Those are the kind of times that will make staying at the Fort so much nicer for your family than staying in a hotel. If you aren't renting a golf cart, I'd bring your DD a flashlight. All of the paths will be well lit and you won't need one but for some reason when kids see other kids with a flash light, they HAVE to have one too.

Keep in mind, you'll have plenty of room in your cabin for extra snacks and water bottles that can be taken to the parks. This is great for little ones that aren't hungry one minute and starving the next.

Have a great trip!

Thanks so much for all the great tips & links... Keep them coming! Exactly one month before we leave - we're so excited! It seems that I've got a pretty complete packing list, but there were some suggestions that I didn't think of... Thanks!

I probably should have mentioned that we will be flying into Orlando so as much as I like the tricycle idea, it wouldn't be very convenient on the airplane (although my little girl would probably love it!)

Also, how do I get to the Walmart for groceries from FW? Or is there another inexpensive grocery store nearby - for perishable things like milk, meat, frozen foods, etc? We'll have a rental car for the first half of our trip and will be coming to the Fort from Lakeland, if that makes a difference.

I know we'll have a great time at FW. I'm looking forward to doing a trip report for you all when we get back!

Cookie sheet for frozen pizza and refrigerated cookie dough!

I've heard this one most often - I already bought one at the dollar store. I'm also planning to bring extra frying pans, beach towels, citronella candle, barbecue tools and some solar pathway lights for the site. I may bring some string lights for the deck, and possibly folding canvas chairs so we can sit outside and not have my back hurt!

Great suggestions! Just found out a few days ago that our plans have changed a little bit. A few days after we arrive, my husband's mother, sister and nephew will be joining us after all; so it will be 6 of us in the cabin for a week instead of 3. In light of this, any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated! WE LEAVE IN 20 DAYS!!! :cool1:

In that case you will need a bigger blender, more rum and more beer :lmao:
