Questions about this PIN that I received...

I am new to the PIN code so please forgive if these questions have been asked before (I'm sure they have)

I just received the free dining PIN code e-mail for December:goodvibes...We weren't planning on going again to WDW so soon but this offer has us seriously thinking....My questions are...

1) Is this offer going to be made available to the general public?

2) If it does not become general, then are we allowed to book another family
(maybe two) to stay the same week as us with this code? The code specifically has my name on it, which is why I ask.

3) The offer shows the price at a Value resort...can we upgrade to book a Mod with it?

Thanks in advance...

If the other family is under your reservation, you can use the code for them. You are allowed to book up to three rooms with your PIN. So, if you want to book everything, they can pay you directly. But, you will have to be the one on the reservation, checking in, etc.

The quoted prices are just for values; if you call Disney, they'll give your prices for mods and deluxes. But yes, you can use the PIN at resorts other than values, too. They (normally) always quote the cheapest prices in the PIN emails so that the lower prices appeal to the person that received the PIN.

Oh, and no one ever knows if a PIN offer will be available to the public or not. It's completely random, so who knows.

Just so you know, while you may be getting free dining, you are paying rack rate for the room portion. I got this email and called just out of curiosity to see how it compared to the reservation I already have from an earlier pin code e-mail that my mom got (40% off room only). The quote for the free dining was nearly double!!

I am a very petty person because that makes me feel better about NEVER-EVER-EVER getting a PIN! I am really just jealous of all these people getting pins while I work myself to death to pay full price. This years trip is a Christmas Present for the kids, after that I will not be going back to Disney if I don't get some sort of discount. I love the place but it is just too exspensive.:sad2:

Thanks for the info...:thumbsup2
I'm not sure I'm totally comfortable being responsible for two families under my reservation...but if that's the way it has to be, then so be it, I guess.

As long as our friends (the second family) are able to book their own restaurants on the DDP that will be fine. I dont want to be responsible for booking all the dining for two families...we will probably want to split up sometime.

In a recent similar thread, someone mentioned that the CM was able to bill the three rooms/parties separately even though they were under one pin code. You may want to ask about this when you book to save yourself the trouble of managing the bill yourself.

:thumbsup2 Thanks...I'm going to do a thread search to find out more info.

True. But it depends on where you are staying. Free dining is typically a better savings at a value...% off room is better at a deluxe.
We are staying at a value for 10 days in december. The 40% off code saved us about $200. The Free Dining pin saved us over $900. When we applied the Free Dining code, we did have to pay rack rate...In the end the savings was still about $600 more than the 40% off code. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I just booked today for two families....but the other family is under their own name and own reservation. The guy I talked to at WDW said that I could book a 3rd room under the same PIN if someone else decides to go.

I had the same experience as trueblue...but it was back in October of 2008 so rules may have changed since then. The requirement was that our friends had to be staying at the same resort and the same dates as us, but they were able to choose options that were different from ours (dining plan, park hoppers, etc) and they had their own reservation #, deposit, etc.

I got the same pin...

But I am an AP holder... Can I buy the one ticket for my trip and get the FD??

Yep. As long as you buy a one day base ticket per person, that makes it a package. You don't have to use the tickets on that trip, just save them for some time after your AP's expire.

Davey,

I just did this myself. I already had a room booked and I received a pin number. I was able to apply the pin number to my existing reservation for the free dining. I just called today to add another room for my parents. I was able to and Disney sent the confirmation to my parents and they are responsible for making the deposit and final payment.

That's awesome...thanks. We are all pretty close to making it a go for mid December :yay::dance3:

Just wanted to agree with what a few others have said... you can book up to three rooms, and they are "linked" together, but each room has a different name on the ressie. One of my clients recently booked this deal with her parents... her brother might still see about adding a room as well.

Enjoy your trip! December will be a lot of fun, and the free dining will save you a good bit of money!
