Dress Code in Vegas??

We are heading to Vegas in August for our first trip...just a quick few days.

Everything I see on tv and movies is everyone dressed up everywhere!!! Tell me it really isn't like that please? There are average people, dressed in comfortable clothes right?

We won't be doing any fancy dining this trip....we are planning on walking the strip, visiting the other hotels, hitting some casinos and seeing Terry Fader (sp?) and KA...do the shows have a dress code?

end clubs and restaurants or advertising filled
with actors.

Las Vegas isn't really any different that your home
town when it comes to dress codes. When you are
walking down the street, going to the mall, stopping
at McDonald's or a "Denny's" style coffeeshop, you
don't need to dress up. Even if you stop at a nicer
restaurant or walk into a high end boutique in a
mall, your vacation wear will be fine.

Just dress normally- in what is comfortable. Shorts, etc., are fine. At night, many people dress up a bit - especially for a show or a really good restaurant - then a woman would wear a nice pant suit or dress and a man would wear a jacket and tie. For KA - you can wear what you like, but will probably feel more comfortable in business casual or better clothes (dockers and nice shirt for man, slacks or skirt and nice blouse for woman).

It will be very hot in August; most people would not be able to walk the strip at that time of year. Plan on taking very cool/comfortable clothing for the day. I generally wear shorts and sandals during the day but dress nicer for the evening.

Most people do dress nicer for the shows and dinners but most places do not have a required dress code and you will see some people dressed more casually. There is no dress code for KA (and it's a great show BTW) but most people will be wearing buisness casual or better. If you decide to go in shorts or jeans or something like that, nobody is going to bat an eye.

I think the only thing they require you to wear in Vegas is a wallet or purse.

I have seen some gold hair bows, purses, and flats. I also saw some bedazzled purses and clothing. But it was just occasionally. The styles ran the gamut. No one really looked out of place.

ETA- If I thought it would help me win a large jackpot, I'd put a gold bow in my hair!

Haha! I have a friend who has been trying to get a group of us for years to go dressed as "vegas ladies". With the gold lame (add the accent mark ), leggings, vegas themed shirt and the whole works! We even were going to have the men wear the bermuda shorts, black socks and sandals

There are a few shows and clubs with dress codes (we found out the hard way when we tried to go to a show and one of our friends found out she could not wear flip flops), but for the most part you wear what you like and what's weather appropriate. Remember it can stay unbareably hot at night too!

We have worn all types of clothes there and people barely notice, it's a interesting city!

That sounds like fun! I was going to type gold lame, but I couldn't get find that accent mark. They look so sassy and cute! I love it. They really get into the spirit of things.

Tee hee its funny you should say that on tv everyone is dressed up here. As a local I find my self getting dressed up to go to a nice resturant only to discover its full of tourists in shorts and tees. Vegas is really a how ever you want to dress go ahead sort of place. You could walk around in a ball gown and no one would question it really.

being born and raised in vegas i can tell you most people are dressed normal. that said, there are different definitions of normal for some normal is sweat pants and a long bummy tshirt that is comfy. lol. that is what i wear in my house and since moving to the midwest i DO wear that out because everyone does! but the definition of normal dress in vegas would be more like, nice jeans or dress pants, or a nice jean skirt or shorts, with a tank top or very nice looking fitted tshirt. at night people DO dress up fancy, but fancy there, is sluty where i now live! so everyones different. dont worry about it anyway though! you are visitors and should wear what you wear at home if thats what makes you comfy. although many people would see going there as an oppurtunity to dress up!
