Shower tent? Anyone use one?

I'm looking into purchasing one of those portable shower tents. You can buy a solar bag for it if you want to. I know that most campgrounds do not allow you to drain bath water on the ground. But we have two small children and I'm thinking of getting this in order to avoid heading to the bath house several times a day. Not to actually bathe them, but more to rinse them off after playing outside. And me too, after a day of being hot and sweaty. We have a pop up with no shower. And I hate bath houses, especailly trying to get little kids not to touch anything.

Has anyone used one of these? We do most of our camping down here in FL, so I figure that most of the time we may not even need a solar bag, we can just use the water hose in there.

Just curious as to what the best brand may be and how well they are made?

We haven't ever used one before, but Kmart has one advertised in their weekly ad for $49.99. It says that it is a 3.5' x 7' double shower and changing room. I don't know if that is a good price or not, but just thought I would mention it.

I have used one, and while they are great for areas that have no water/ hot water, they are a little confining, but would work well for your purpose. You could also just bring a hose, set it up and rinse them off in their swimsuits.

Also, just a note, the comfort stations at the fort are unlike any you have ever seen. They are aptly named for comfort and are the cleanest I have ever seen anywhere. Nothing like any ordinary campground bathroom. We have a travel trailer, and when we are full (ours holds 10) I would head to the comfort station with my daughter and my husband would take the boys and we would get done in 10 minutes instead of an hour.

I agree.
We've been camping plenty of places that their "bathroom houses" are comparable to gas station bathrooms- not somewhere you want to be and you definitely don't want to touch anything in there.
But that is not the case at FW.... I'd venture a guess they are as clean as anyone's bathroom at home (maybe cleaner than some... including mine on some days LOL)
They really are nice, clean, and not at all cramped. I'd definitely not bother with a shower tent while staying there. If you want to rinse off before getting in the pop up and whatnot- I'd agree just get a hose and rinse off wiht it. But other than that- I'd just go to the comfort station. :)

Thanks for the replies!!

We've stayed at the Fort many times, so I know that they have very clean bathrooms. But you still could not convince me to walk barefooted in there and stuff like that. I'm just more comfortable, especailly with the kids, in our own environment. We'll still use the Fort comfort stations, I'm just hoping to avoid going to the stations several times a day for rinse offs before naps, playing in the beds, sweaty kids rolling all over the bedding, etc.

Minnie&Mickey, thanks so much for letting me know about the KMart one. I drove over there and bought one today! We're going camping locally the weekend of July 9th, so I'll give it a try then!

Glad I could help! Have fun on your trip!

Another suggestion that others with young children have used is to take a small kiddie pool right into the comfort station shower. (Blow up kind) Use the large handicap stall and there will be enough room for you and one or two kids. Fill the pool up from the running shower and you have an instant sanitary private tub bath for your youngsters.

I have used the portable outdoor shower. Not a great idea for the adults but worked great for the kids. More to rinse than to actually take a shower.
