is there a way to find out how many days i have left on a ticket i have from 2006 that does not expire
i called disney they told me i can only find out when i go to the park
is that right

That is correct, it has to be scanned into their machine in order to determine the remaining number of days on the ticket.

You can now. As of about 2008 or so there is a phone number to call:

The number to call to check number of valid days remaining on a MYW ticket:

(407) 566-4985 (press opt.#2).

Open Mon-Sat and will only check 3 tickets at a time.

Thanks for the info, Will! When I worked at TDS as a manager I got that question almost daily. I'm glad it has changed!

I have called that number twice now and both times I was told they no longer are able to check tickets over the phone.

I have gotten an operator to help with the days, but only if it isn't too busy. You will need to know the date the card was last used or at least the month.

i called only one person would tell me how many days were left
i tried to call back to get another ticket read and was told that i had to get them scanned at the park or resort or downtown disney
now im going to disneykand in july will they be able to scan them and tell me how many days are left

well i called back and spoke to a man who gave me information on all four that i have
i just dont understand why some people will tell you the number of days left and others will not

That is odd. But thanks for sharing your experiences, Kristine. I think it's now clear that it's a CM preference thing, not an actual new policy.

I'd postulate that its more like a "new CM" thing rather than any policy change.

;)

I called a while back for some cards I have from 2001 and read them the number under the bar code and they were able to tell me what was left.

Yes.
This service has been available for quite awhile now (about 18 months.)

Every once-in-a-while there are reports of the CM on the phone NOT
giving out the info.

If that happens to you, wait an hour or two and call again.
You'll likely get another CM who will give you the ticket info.

Just tried and the girl was most unhelpful. Really wasn't helpful for any of my questions. Guess I'll try calling back later. :(

Did you "press #2?"

I actually called through the resort line because I had a question about my stay but just tried again using option 2. She was also said I had to go to the parks for them to scan them. :(

Very frustrating, especially since I was on hold for quite awhile this second time.

Hi all, I wanted to let everyone know that I just tried again and the lady told me they used to have the capability to do that but they've taken it away so the ONLY way to check is at Guest Relations at any of the parks or Downtown Disney.

I called this number a few weeks ago to try to get an answer as well and was told they do not do it anymore. Her answer was that the CMs were giving out the wrong information on the number of days and the tickets needed to be read by the scanner at the park for the most accurate information! So, they stopped the service.

It amazes me that Disney does not have the capability to assist a guest with this kind of information prior to arrival at a park. People budget and plan their trips around this information and it would be very helpful and useful to have. I mean -you really should be able to have easy access to this information. We all can get a balance on a gift card by calling a number or entering the information on a website, why not a disney ticket?

In the past, the reason that info was intentionally made unavailable except at the parks was to prevent ticket fraud and ticket resale. The reasoning is, if you can't find out whether a ticket is valid or used or an outright forgery, only a moron would ever buy it. Unfortunately, as you can see by looking for WDW tickets and FastPasses on eBay, there are apparently plenty of morons out there willing to lay down hundreds of dollars, sight-unseen, so try to save a few bucks on tickets.

Additionally, the reason it can't be done at the Disney Store - and probably never will - is that in order to check the entitlements on a WDW ticket, you must have a direct connection to the WDW ticketing computer system. This makes it difficult even for the WDW resorts to check ticket entitlements. Why? Info about the ticket is not stored on the ticket itself. The only thing stored on that magnetic strip is the ticket's serial number; all data about what kind of ticket it was at purchase, when and where it was used, and any upgrades made to it, are stored entirely on the WDW ticketing computer system, making it impossible to access without a connection to the system.

I was personally very surprised when WDW started giving out ticket entitlement info over the phone. If they have discontinued the practice, either as part of their ongoing efforts to prevent ticket resale and fraud or as a cost-saving measure, then I am not really surprised.

I guess we'll all just have to start keeping track of out own ticket entitlements on each trip again. Break out the Sharpies!

But did you press Option #2? It's VERY important.

;)
:teeth:
:rotfl:

Sorry to kid around, but I haven't been paying attention to ticket info for a couple of years and it was always so ingrained in me (as long as I have been researching Disney trip information - so that would be back in 1997) that you could NOT get ticket info over the phone. Guess I was in a black hole during the time that you COULD get it.
