Sci-Fi - has anyone just went for milkshakes?

Has anyone booked a time just to get something small such as shakes and would the shakes count as a CS or out of pocket for that. I would really like to go but cant seem to fit it into my schedule right now.

It's a table service restaurant, you can't just go in for drinks, you should really be eating too.

I know it's TS, but as long as you leave a good tip, I don't see why you can't just get shakes. I haven't done it, but I would if that's how it fit into my schedule. I'd just want to leave a good tip, so I wasn't taking up a table for the waitstaff to only get a couple bucks.

I dissagree - I've been to regular restaurants many times and just had dessert. Whats wrong with it?

I think the UG actually suggests this as well, which signals to me that its not an uncommon thing to do. I was actually thinking of doing this myself.

thanks everyone, i agree as long as you give a normal tip as you would if you were eating a meal i think it should be fine. Even just sharing an appetizer & shakes i dont see anything wrong with this, especially since we would be paying out of pocket & giving tip.

We have done this a few times usually for a later lunch time and split the nacho's and had a cold drink (I like the Kahula shake ..) As long you your not sitting there for 2 hours no one will say a thing.

It's a nice way to break up touring HS as it always seems to be a hot park.

One trip dd and I headed over to 50's just to get the shakes, but it was about 8pm or so. We were able to get seated, and we did tell the hostess that we wanted only milkshakes..no problem and we tipped quite well.
Now, we just head to the bar area, order our milkshakes to go....nice option.

Yeah, we get shakes at the bar. Frankly, though, we've given up on shakes other than Ghiradelli over at DTD. Disney's are really only so-so, IMO.

You cannot use counter service or snack credits at a table service restaurant. If you go in for shakes, you will need to pay cash for them or use a TS credit.

Going in for appetizers & shakes or even just shakes is the best way to experience Sci-Fi. The shakes are very good, but so are Burger King's! You are there for the atmosphere, which you can't get anywhere at home. The shakes are just your excuse to get in.
Our meals there were pretty horrible but my DD still remembers sitting in the cars, and this was a loo-oooong time ago. So the experience is definitely worth it, even if the food is bad.

Seems a bit rude to people that want a full meal to book up an entire ADR and table just for a shake. Maybe not during off times, but it would be a bit much during peak dining times, IMHO. That's just me. I wouldn't do it. Not saying others can't or shouldn't. Just something to think about. I know I'd be annoyed if I couldn't get an ADR somewhere only because someone booked them up just to order a milkshake.

There is nothing wrong with going to a TS and only getting drinks, appys, desserts. If you are concerned about using a table that someone else would want for a full meal, don't be. It would actually be better if people did this. Think of how fast WDW could turn that table?

I dont think so at all but that is my opinion. For a family of 5 for milkshakes & appetizer probably wont be cheap. There are so many restaurants to choose from, if someone cant get into this one there are many others that people can try that are excellent according to one of the CMs i talked to today. People tend to rely too much on the boards and tend too overlook some of the better restaurants. I got a mid afternoon time so i took it since it was available to me.

We love Sci-Fi and go every year. Usually we just get shakes and an appetizer. The wait staff is always very helpful. We paid out of pocket and left a good tip.

You should always do what feels right to you. Don't let other people's judgments cloud your judgment. Sometimes we can worry ourselves to death about what we do - but in reality this is a small thing.

You should have just shakes if that is what suits your family. Enjoy the atmosphere.

I've done shakes and fries! The servers are not thrilled, but I asked a CM when I made ressies and they said, "You don't have to tell us what you're eating...you can order whatever you like!"

We went after Fantasmic one night....very fun!

Thanks! I dont see why the server wasnt too thrilled. If you get something small its less work for them, plus again if leaving a reasonable tip there should be no problem.
