Those pinapple drinks at Polynesian...any good? I'm kind of a ``light drinker`` ..say 2-3 wines and Im done drinking for the night:rotfl: I hear theyre good, are they really? I'm diying to try one:banana:

Polynesian Resort: Lapu Lapu

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lapu Lapu
Tambu Lounge

1 oz. Meyer's Rum
1/2 oz. Bacardi 151
Scorpion Mix (half sour mix and half orange juice)
Garnish: Cherry

Serve in a pineapple.

I thought it was way too strong, but then I'm not a fan of rum in general.

Recipe for a great evening:

Grab a Lapu Lapu from Tambu Lounge
Walk to Poly beach
Pull up a lounge chair (or two)
Watch some awesome fireworks
Enjoy!

I loved the Lapu Lapu. We had tired kids after the parks one night and we stopped by to grab one for each of us. Lets just say they went down sooooo easily and I conned my hubby into going back for more. Needless to say, by the time he got back I did NOT need to have any more but I did. The rest of the night was a blur!!! It must have been all the walking I did that day:rolleyes1!!! Definitely not the alcohol!!!

MMMmmm sounds good:goodvibes I saw a pic a while back, anyone know where to find one? Lol, it just looked sooo:worship:good

I'm going to HAVE to try one on my next trip:thumbsup2

They have them at the bar in the Poly right in the front of Ohana's. It is great to take out to the beach like a pp stated for watching the fireworks while swinging.

The Lapu Lapu and Back Scratcher are very strong! I'm not sure if a light wine drinker would like them.

Here's a wide-shot of mine from last year...very yummy, but I also thought it was pretty potent :goodvibes

And I asked for a glow cube, so it gave it a cool look:

DF loves rum so he ordered it. He loved it but said you have to like rum and that it had a decent amount of alcohol. It's expensive and you get a decent amount of liquor. If you're a light drinker, I'd recommend splitting one, or eating first. I really enjoyed the raspberry mojito I had at Kona. Much lighter and refreshing!

Do they offer any non-alcoholic drinks from a pineapple?

I really want to drink in an exotic style, but 3 years of university and making myself sick on every type of alcohol available means I would really just prefer something fruity and pretty looking than something alcoholic.

Does anyone know how much one costs? I would love to try one or split one with dh. (I am the most god awful light weight!) I can barely handle splitting a scorpion bowl with him .

Does anyone happen to know what's in the Backscratcher drink? :worship:

Here ya go!

1/2 oz. Myer's Dark Rum
1/2 oz. Bacardi Silver Light Rum
4 oz. POG juice (see below)

Shake and strain over a glass of ice. Top with Jack Daniels (1/4 oz., or to taste... lots for me!). Garnish with back scratcher, or an orange and cherry flag.

POG juice is Passion-Orange-Guava juice at a 2:1:2 ratio (2 oz. each Passion and Guava, 1 oz. Orange will yield more than enough for one drink). Passion fruit juice can be found in the frozen concentrated form and Guava nector in the carton or can at any Wal-Mart Supercenter.

While we're discussing this, I just want to make a point about the homogenization of the bar menus across Disney property. I, for many personal reasons, dislike the standardized menus at the various pool and lounge bars, although I understand how it makes sense from an alcohol distribution/inventory standpoint. However, the Polynesian is a good example that there are still a few places where the bar menus reflect the theming of their location. Another couple of examples are Caribbean Beach (I know a bartender at Shutters who makes a killer Banana Cabana! His secret is a swirl of dark rum that is not part of the recipe) and Port Orleans (Mississippi Mudslide, anyone?). My complaint is not about the actual drinks on the standardized menu; some of them are pretty good, such as the Strawberry Lychee Margarita. I just wish they would get rid of the generic blue "Disney Parks" drink menus.

You can get them without Alcohol in them
I do think it costs the same

We got my mom one and she loved it
I always have one with alcohol

Wow that looks sooooooo good. Hmm, might have to share because I don't think I'll be able to take that much:thumbsup2 being potent and all lol.

Lapu Lapus are great! Grab a couple and head to the beach for the MK fireworks!

They cost about $15 each.
