A question for people who were on the first cruise...

Well, even if you weren't on the first cruise, feel free to chime in if you feel inclined to do so.

I have some friends we were supposed to go on a cruise with earlier this year, but we had to cancel. We've been trying to reschedule this but haven't had any luck thus far due to a variety of other planned trips/obligations/whatever.

DH and I are booked for Podcast Cruise 2.0, but I'm wondering... do you think my non-Podcast-listening friends, who like Disney but don't loooove Disney, would have a good time on PC2? I'm thinking of recommending it to them since DU is giving such awesome pricing goodvibes) and my friends have said previously they don't really care what line we go on, but I'm not sure if Podcast-y activities will kind of get in the way of us hanging out together and such. I mean, we don't want to be attached at the hip 24/7, but if we're vacationing as a group, I do want to do some things with them. At the same time, the point of me going on the cruise is to participate in the podcast events as much as possible.

Soooo... having seen/experienced what was on cruise 1.0, do you think people with only a passing interest in Disney would find it worthwhile to sign up to be part of the podcast cruise? Or should we look into going some other time with them? (Or both )

Update: Well, I wrote a long email to my friends, highlighting pros and cons for them, and they're officially signed up! Now to see if I can get them listening to the podcast before we go... Thanks for the reassurance, everyone!

It will come down to the price. Are they willing to pay for a Disney cruise. If yes, then sign 'em up! Don't worry about the who is doing what during the podcast events thing. I am a Disney enthusiast who spends every waking moment incorporating Disney in my life so I'm a sucker - they got me. But my folks, maybe not so much. They had to be convinced. They were sold by the great customer service, top notch shops, great kids activities, soda machines, ability to bring your alcohol on board (most shops forbid this) along with other minor differences. You have to make the decision for yourself ultimately. I'm sure it'll work out.

I would say totally tell your friends to come with you on the PCC 2.0.

You could really be involved with as much or as little as you wanted to be. Jason (dh) and I attended all the podcast activities, and we still had time to hang out together.
Day 1 The party where we leave port Jason and I were by ourselves, and when we first got on the ship we explored alone, we were by ourselves really all of the 1st day, except when we went to the welcoming party, which only really lasted a half hour. During the nightly shows on the ship we sat with other DISers, but we didn't have to.

Day 2 Was Nassau day and we went to the DI talk then Palo at 10am then we had a few hours to kill until the Martini tasting at 2pm and then wine tasting was after that so we headed back to the room and tried to be coherent for the show that night which was Toy Story the Musical.
So there was only really 2 hours and after dinner free to do what you wish, if you did the Podcast events.

Day 3 was CC day, and Jason and I got off the boat at 8:30am and hung out on the beach all day by ourselves until 1pm and then headed in to get something to eat before the Podcast party at the Headsup bar at 2? I believe. Then we had to get ready for the show and dinner and then the night was free, most went to wavebands, but that is fun regardless if you like Disney or not!
So there was alot of free time to do as you wish this day.

Day 4 was the last day, sea day.
We went to the live podcast taping and then watched Lee Cockerell talk. Then went for the group pic and then got our copy of Creating the Magic signed, and then we had free time from 2pm until dinner/show, after dinner was the farewell party.

So while we didn't have tons of free time, we could have had a lot more if we wanted to not do everything the podcast team was doing, but all in all I think we did have a very equal amount of time for ourselves as time with others! It was a great trip, and if anything I highly recommend you come on PCC 2.0, and hopefully your friends will too! They won't be disappointed!!!!!

Thanks for the responses, guys. I figured a good time would be had by all - Disney fan or no, but it's good to hear confirmation from people who've been there.

I proposed the idea to my friends last night (via a big long email) and the response I got was pretty much just "YES! ", so I guess they're in.

If I did not loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove Disney, I would still have done this cruise. This far exceeded my expectations of cruising (first time cruiser). The Disney Service and level of quality is the part of Disney that shines on the cruise. Castaway Cay pretty much says it all. Perfectly immaculate. The Ship was the same. Christy told me that this blew away the last cruise she was on (not Disney).

We could all do whatever we wanted. Except for the show taping (which might seem alien to the uninitiated) the group events were more about fellowship with good folks (who we did not know beforehand) than a meeting of (no, don't use the word) a clique.
