Where should we stay for just one night?

We'll be going on our first DVC vacation in January. We decided on a seven night Eastern cruise followed by a four night stay at Vero Beach. We'll be flying into Orlando the day before and will stay for one night at one of the resorts before taking the bus to the port. It's just DH and myself, and we won't be going to the parks. Any suggestion on where to stay at for that one night?

I probably should have also said that we wanted to use our points for that one night. I suppose I more wandering about staying at a resort that has interesting grounds to walk around, good resteraunt, or other interesting things to take in.

Btw, saw you're from Holland, I went to Hope for one year back in '94-95.

I'd go for Boardwalk or Beach Club -- if you're not going into the parks, you still have plenty of amusement right there. You could also stay at SSR or OKW with easy access to Downtown Disney...or, take the chance to check out the newest resort....BLT. The "problem" with DVC is there isn't a bad one in the bunch!! Have a great trip.

I vote BWV. Nightlife lots to do. A close second SSR for easy access to DTD.

For me, I would pick VWL if we would be at the resort during the day to do some bike riding aound FW. Eating at Artist Point, watching the Electrical Light Parade and just relaxing would be a great way to get ready for a cruise in my book.

Alternatively, if I wouldn't be around during the day, and only needed something from 4 on, I would go to AKV, becuase it's a cultural adventure in itself. CM's have a talk about their homeland each evening, there's night vision goggles and lots to do/see around the resort.

This would be my first choice if we hadn't stayed there the last time we went to WDW. DH and I are wanting to try places we haven't been before. It's just such a wonderful, relaxing place.

I also bolded the cultural adventure/CM's part because that sounds like the perfect thing for us

I think it's going to be between BWV and AKV. I asked the people over on the DCL forum for their opinion. We'll see what happens! so excited

At AKV, yes there are outdoor viewing areas for all guests. (Outside both lobbys) I know the Jambo hallways have large windows every 10? rooms so you can see some animals as you are walking to your room. There's also an animal viewing area near the Jambo pool.

At AKV, Jambo, besides the outdoor viewing areas on either side of the lobby, there are also outdoor areas along the hallway. I'm not sure what level, maybe the lobby level or the one above.

Also, you're going in January, so whether you're staying in Jambo or in Kidani, you can walk over to the other one to experience the beauty of each.

We spent one night at Kidani on our way to VB last month and loved it. It is great to be able to watch the animals (we were in a standard room, and did not have a problem finding windows everywhere) and have a nice dinner. And the pool is great. Most of all, we didn't feel like we were missing out by not going to the parks, which I'm afraid would have happened with the Epcot or MK resorts.
