Adjustments to your DVC portfolio?

Over the years I have sold off my Vero Beach and Hilton Head points, bought more OKW and bought a little BLT. I started out with 230 points in 1992, built up to 550 points by 2005 and have since reduced my point total to 390.

As a now retired person, I like the lower dues and probably will never have significantly more points than I do now.

How have you adjusted your DVC portfolio?

Unfortunately, or Fortunately, depending on your perspective I keep adding points. I did sell my 290 point BWV awhile ago to buy some other timeshares (not DVC) but then I added at AKV and BLT. I have several VB contracts I would like to be rid of though so I can buy more BLT. I am a DVC points addict and I, too, am retired. :headache:

Bought 200 Vero points in 2000. Added another 130 at VWL in 2001. Sold Vero in 2002 when we were planning on moving to Fla. The move fell through so I ended up purchasing 200 SSR in 2003. Added another 50 at VWL in 2006.
Total points we have now are 380. I don't see us adding on, if anything I could see selling some down the road.

started with 190 OKW added 50 OKW, then 100 VB, then 25 BWV, then 60 VWL, 25 BWV - then sold VB - later sold OKW - got BLT 120, then add BLT 50

so total now is 280 - bwv, vwl and blt

since was forced to retired - don't think will get anymore. at least until can find another job.

We started with 300 SSR points and quickly added on another 120. We wanted 600 total. We bought 160 at AKL, we wanted 150 but added an extra 10 to be a Founding Member. When they started building BLT we sold the 120 point contract at SSR to buy 160 at BLT. So far we are very happy with 620 points.

Now with the great deals on resale for SSR, I keep thinking my number should be 1000 points, but DH isn't convinced yet.

Yes, many times - but only upward.... I haven't ever sold any contracts yet.

Same here. MF's are somewhat of a concern as we both head quickly toward retirement, but going to WDW/VB with the family is more important to us at this time.

Except that we may buy more VB points, we both agree we have enough of the DVCs that expire in 2042. One of our DS doesn't enjoy his WDW time, but thoroughly enjoys our Cape May home, and VB. BLT will most likely be our last add on home resort, but we're not there yet.

I started in 1997 with 190 points (sure that was more than I needed). Added another 50 before 1997 was over, and kept going up to 1150. When AKV was announced, sold of 160 Vero and bought AKV 150 so I've landed at 1140 points. I figure when I retire I'll have all the time in the world to use them more efficiently (all of my trips involve weekends now).

When did you sell your contract? I bought a resale BWV in Oct last year 290 points Sept UY. Maybe it was your contract?

A number of family issues are preventing us from using our points as often as we would like right now. We are retired so our maintenance fees are a bit stiff for us (almost $500/month). Our total number of points has gone steadily up from our initial 220 points. It would probably be wise for us to sell some points but I am so emotionally tied to our DVC points that I just can't do it. Just HOPING to be able to go to WDW soon keeps me going.

Our adjustments have so far been in the "Up" direction. We are in our lower 40's so that may change in the future, but I doubt it.

We did similar to you. Started with 175, added 75, added 50, added 100, added 100 for a total of 500. Sold off 75 and 100, so we now have 325. I like paying fewer dues.
