hi i was wondering if anyone can tell me where it is?
what you get to eat?
how many characters?
& is it worth it?

& do we have to book it through our travel agent
or just pay when we get there?

I can help with the last part.

If you are able to book and pre-pay with your travel agent it should work out in your favour because you will be paying in ££ and not €€. If not, then you can book by phoning Dining Reservations on 00 33 1 60 30 40 50 and pay at the time of the tea party.

I did this 2 years ago when it was at the Plaza and it was fab but since then it has moved. Some reports say to Pizza Planet and some say Lucky Nugget.

The choice of food was good back then as you got sweet and savories all for a good price per person.

Hopefully someone will be along that has done it recently for us as I'd quite like to know what it's like now too.

from what i have heard a lot of people have been dissapointed with this since it moved from the plaza gardens. the hot food seems to have disapeared.

To be fair, when we went to the tea party at the Plaza Gardens on our first trip in 2007, there were no savoury items, just puddings and pastries. I still loved it, thought it was great value for money.

What puts me off the Lucky Nugget version are the reports of characters getting mobbed, and not getting around the individual tables because of it. At the Plaza Gardens children who attempted to mob characters were shooed away, and the characters followed a set pattern around all the tables.

Tea party is now def at Lucky Nugget. I wanted to do it at Plaza Gardens but when I tried to book, I was told it was now at LN, as we are having character lunch at LN I didnt want to do it twice.

We did both the Tea Party and Birthday Tea Party in December. Both were held at Lucky Nugget. We had prepaid for both and when we booked the Tea Party was at Pizza Planet and the Birthday Tea Party was at Lucky Nugget, just before we left we found out that they had been combined and the Tea Party was now at Lucky Nugget too, but as we had prepaid we still did both.

Now you would expect that being at the same place, they would have been the same experience. No, not so. For the Tea Party we were seated upstairs. Upstairs there was hardly any food, a very small food selection and also no hot drinks!, it was very very disappointing, there were also hardly any characters, we could see them downstairs and when some would pop upstairs, they were mobbed and quite honestly, NOT ONE stopped by us, where we were sitting. My DS went downstairs to get some food as we could see the buffet downstairs had a lot more food (larger selection) that we had, a few others followed suit and also went downstairs to get coffee and food, but not everyone up there, as we were not told that we could go downstairs. Anyway, hence we left that Tea Party, very disappointed, so much so that I complained on our way out to the manager, I thought it was a rip off!

Despite this we returned a few days later to Lucky Nugget for the Birthday Tea Party, we were so tempted to just blow it off as it was so bad the time before, but we had already paid, so we thought we may as well. It was much better!, we were seated downstairs, had the larger selection on the buffet, we had the cake, the birthday card for the characters to sign and then the Mickey toy gift at the end. Characters were much better, we saw many more than the first time, but still there were characters there, that we hadn't seen in the park and DS wanted the autographs, but they came out went around half of the room (obviously it was the other half), were mobbed , then left and didn't come near us (or our row)

So in conclusion, the Birthday Tea Party, whilst at the same venue and at the same time as the Tea Party, is MUCH better than just doing the Tea Party. So I would book the Birthday Tea Party (and celebrate somebodies upcoming or past birthday). I would never again waste my money or time doing the regular Tea Party, unless it changed in some way.

Hi this is my first post. really looking forward to it but mainly concerned about picking the best dining opportunities.

I have already paid for a Birthday Tea Party at Lucky Nugget at 5pm . I hope it is worth it after reading some posts!

My question about this is how long does it go on for? Is it an hour or less?

I know it is only pastries etc so I was thinking of booking Cafe Mickey with Birthday Cake AS WELL! (just to have double the celebration.) I was going to book a table at about 7.30pm but was wondering if this would be two things too close together.

Ive also got questions about the Princesses dinner but I will have a look for info first!

To be honest, I wouldn't do both the birthday tea party and Cafe Mickey with birthday cake on the same day. Mostly because, the birthday cakes are huge, and it would be such a waste, you'll never get through both of them without one of them having to go in the bin. The birthday tea party is around one hour from what I recall, and your children will probably be stuffed with all the cakes, pastries and sweets they serve at the tea party.

If you want to do Cafe Mickey with birthday cake, you could do that on another day in your trip (theres no law says you have to celebrate on your actual birthday - I took my DD for her Cafe Mickey birthday 3 weeks after her actual birthday ).

We did the birthday tea party in April and enjoyed it a lot! It is certainly not a meal and was all sweet foods but there was plenty of it and the restaurant was full. There was a hot drinks self-service machine for unlimited drinks, bottled water and the servers offered jugs of fizzy juice.

We saw lots of characters and they all visited our table. My daughter had the birthday card and all the characters signed for her. Any child leaving their table was sent back to wait their turn (unlike Cafe Mickey).

I say go expecting a tea party, not a meal, and you will have a great time!

hmm .. its quite hard choosing the meals etc isnt it?!

I am there for 2 nights and wanted to do the auberge first night if its open and then cafe mickey. i thought the Newport Bay buffet before we leave on the last day.

Ive already booked the tea party so she will need a proper meal at some point that day but wont really be hungry (with all the cake she would have had at the tea party) until about 8pm on that day and I think she will be too tired to enjoy it then! (she is not a late night child) But if I do Cafe Mickey for early lunch (say 11.45) we will miss 2 hours of playtime in the park! ahhh but probably a rest will be needed midday.

Im sure im not the only one with these dillemas!

The walk to Cafe Mickey's is not too far from the park though so you could do it. We did it for lunch one day, left the park for lunch then went back, its only about a 5 minute walk from the front entrance.

Try to think of the meals as part of the fun - especially at places like Cafe Mickey and then you dont feel like you are missing time in the park

You'll likely meet and have more fun with the characters in Cafe Mickey for those 2 hours, than you would in the parks anyway .

I always plan my days around my meals, the character meals are absolutely the best!!
