AHhh... found a good flight and rental car deal for Thursday-Sunday.

Thinking of getting a cheap hotel for Thursday night since we dont get in until 10 pm then a value resort for the next 2 nights.

Flight + Car = $409 (for 2 of us)
Hotel 1st night = ?? (thinking $50 w/priceline)
Value = $250

I told myself if I could go for under $1000 (not including food) that I'd do it.. DD has NOOO clue I'm even thinking about this and that is the BEST part.

So is it crazy to go down for the 4th of July weekend??

Ok, so I'm afraid to wait this out.

Forgot to add that we have days and options left from our 10 day plus hoppers from our last trip.

Thinking (out loud) that we could do 2 parks on Friday and then a water park on the 4th then hang out at the pool that night.

On Sunday we could hang out at the pool somemore and then head back to the airport about 2 pm for a 5pm flight.

What to do... what to do???

If it were me, Id go..

but do keep in mind that it will be Africa hot.. and super super crowded, but oh so cool to see the fireworks at WDW on 4th of July.. I was super lucky last year to get to see the fireworks on 4th of July in NewYork City..

So I still haven't hit purchase but I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it! I know it will be hot but I'm thinking of spending the 4th at a waterpark and the 3rd doing a park (or 2) and that sunday at the hotel pool.

Speding about $425 for the flights and rental car (Sanford Airport so I need it), $15 for parking at the airport, $50 for the first night hotel and $250 for 2 nights at a value resort.... $750 total without food. It's well under my $1000 and I'd spend that taking DD somewhere else that weekend....

I used to go for the fireworks at Epcot every year on the 4th. I haven't been for 2 years and it is killing me. Epcot has the best 4th of July fireworks, but I used to find a spot at around 6 for the 10 pm show. I never went on any rides, I would make sure to see the shows around the park though, way too crowded and I don't wait in lines longer than 30 minutes.
I would go if I were you, but you say you will stay at the pool on the 4th and not go to the parks. That might be a good idea since the parks are so crowded on that day. You can watch the fireworks over at Poly on the beach or dock, but be early, even that area gets crowded. Bring a book and maybe pick up some food or buy it at the resort.

i think it sounds like a great idea. it is a good price and you'll have a great time. yes, it will be hot, but you can plan to just see less and plan in some cool off breaks. factor in some of those air conditioned rides and have some breaks in restaurants with airconditioning to sip cool drinks a few times a day. take a nap in the heat of the day. i think you dd would love the trip. if you can afford the trip, go and enjoy. i think all families deserve a break , especially in these tough times . enjoy your trip wherever you decide.

Oh my... were going! The flight dropped a bit overnight and I found a discount code thru orbitz for the All Stars Sports.

So... flight for 2 of us was $300 after taxes, baggage and fees. All Star Sports was booked thru Orbitz using the code SUMMERVIN and total for all three nights (decided it was worth it not to have to change hotels after the first night) was $295 with all taxes!

I did take my chance and didn't get a rental car thru the airline and hopefully will find a decent rate elsewhere! Looking for this now... hoping for about $100

I had the flight all loaded and just had to hit the pay button. I left it up for awhile then when back and hit it quickly and closed my eyes.

I am most excited about driving up to the airport and letting DD guess where we are going. I know it will be her first guess but still it will be sooo much fun!

We did a last minute, spur of the moment trip 2 years ago to WDW just to see the 4th of July fireworks. We got a flight out of ACY to MCO, booked at All Star Sports and had a grand time. That time of year, MK had special fireworks on July 3rd and July 4th, so on July 3rd we saw MK special fireworks, then on July 4th we saw both Epcot special and Studios. There was a bus from Epcot to the studios, so we ran to the bus and got to the studios in plenty of time....
It was the most fun to old folks had in a long time. WE love spur of the moment, but we also plan a year in advance.
Have fun.

I woud suggest Priceline for the car rental. I've had really good luck with Priceline and rental cars.

I agree with the suggestion to watch fireworks on the 4th. If you don't want to brave a park, then definitely head to the Poly for dinner and hang around the beach for fireworks.

yeah.. you lucky duck!!! hope you have a blast!:dance3::cheer2:

Yes it's crowded (we'll be there!) and hot but IT'S DISNEY!!! We have a great time going then. The park hours are looooooooooooong and we go early, use fast pass and take mid day breaks to recharge and cool off. All a wonderful thing.

How fun, I love last minute trips! I'm a crazy planner but some of the best trips are spur of the moment. Have fun on your vacation :goodvibes
