Just curious......will you be celebrating at Disney???

Our dd graduates tomorrow evening (Sat. June 6th) It is so exciting, but also emotional. :sad2: Another major milestone on this road we call life. WOW the time really does fly.........

We have family in town and are enjoying our time together, but a little part of me kinda dreads the ceremony tomorrow night. Isn't that horrible to say??? I am extremely excited for her, but as a mom.. it is emotional because life is about to take a major shift for me as a mom and also for her as she moves on to college this fall. I will probably cry as soon as I hear the Pomp and Circumstance. Shoot I will probably cry as soon as I see her in that cap/gown. :scared: We are so proud of her and she has worked so hard.

We are going to continue celebrating in July on our 9 day trip to WDW. :goodvibes It is nice that we get to "celebrate" while Disney is doing their Celebrations theme. :yay:

Hi edk35,
Our twins graduate on Sunday. I agree that the time really does FLY. Just yesterday it seems they were running around the MK with their little mouse ear hats. They were 7 at the time....

Now they are young men getting ready to graduate. It will be a two hankey day I'm sure. We are just having their Oma over and my BIL. I did order two 2009 graduation antenna toppers :earsboy:

Now in August we go on our first ABD trip to Wyoming as their graduation gift. During winter break from college (I can't hardly believe I'm typing that!) we are going to Disney Land. They say as long as we plan fun trips they plan on coming with us...Let's hope so.

Good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you when I'm fighting the happy tears when I see my boys in their caps and gowns.

:scared: I got tears reading this!!!!! Okay it is official I WILL BE A BASKET CASE TOMORROW!!! :scared I just hope it is just tears..and not SOBBING. :scared1: I will think of you too on Sunday. WOW twins ....it would have to be a 2 HANKY DAY!!!! Congrats to your sons and good luck to them both as they start on their next adventure!!!

Oh and I had to add some "Disney" to her graduation gifts......

I got her a Graduating Eeyore and class of 2009 ears!!!!!

We can be each others' support group. Report in tomorrow night (if you aren't sobbing too much to type!) Then I'll know what to expect on Sunday. The twins are our only children too so it's an immediate empty nest....OK now I'm making myself tear up....

I will do that. Her ceremony is at 7:30 and she has 565 in her class so it will be longggggggggggggggg plus it is being held about 30 min. or so away. Anyway....I will report back but my post will be late.

Oh I have been tearing up reading your posts too. My dd is not even going that far away to college and we have two other younger children, but this is so emotional. I will be the same way when they graduate. I get to do this all over again in 3 years and then I get a 5 year break. :rotfl:

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

My dd graduated last year and yes, you will cry. I welled up when I first saw the stadium, then started to cry when the kids walked in. But you won't be the only one so don't worry. This year my youngest graduates from middle school and in our town the kids attend the same school from Kindergarten through 8th grade. After the ceremony they show a slide show of the kids from early years to present. Now that is a tear jerker!

Enjoy your day with your daughter. She is likely to be just as emotional as you will be. It is hard to let them go, but now that my dd has one year of college behind her it is a pleasure to watch her grow into an adult. Now, if your daughter is going away to college next year, the night before she leaves will be a tough one too... it's okay, it's a good sadness to feel. It just means you have done a great job in raising her. Good luck.

Congrats to all the 2009 grads! Our DS graduated from HS May 28th. I agree that the time has gone by so fast. It seems like yesterday I dropped him off at Kindergarten. We thought we had more time with him, but now the reality has sunk in. He'll be in college in the fall, so we are taking him to WDW probably for the last time in July. We're also going to Universal at his request, since he loves it there as well. We're planning on having a great time, but it will be a bit sad knowing he probably won't be going with us next year. We have been traveling to WDW every summer since he was 2!

DS gets his master's degree in music performance this summer, and we were all set to celebrate with the Food and Wine Festival. He's going to work immediately after graduation, and coincidently the F&W is the same time the cruise ship is in dry dock. But then last night he called to inform me that they want to transfer him to another ship, so he can't meet me for the F&W after all. I know work comes first (and now he goes to Hawaii), but I'm kind of bummed this morning. I was really looking forward to this Mom/son trip to WDW.

Why did I post this???? LOL Every time I read a response I tear up. I was doing okay this morning even while decorating for the celebration. Then I took a break and read these posts. :scared: I already put on my waterproof mascara. Our dd is going "off" to school but she is only a 45 min. drive away in good traffic. Plus my husband works fairly close to where she will be so that helps too. Well I am sure when we go in July I will be emotional somewhat too. I hope she will be able to go with us each year but you never know once they start college. She loves WDW so I know if she can make it happen she will try. :thumbsup2

:grouphug: I am sorry. I hope you can plan another trip with you son really soon!!!

When will you be at WDW in July? We arrive on July 21st.

Well I hope he will go again after this trip........I hope our dd will be able to go on many more trips with us. :goodvibes However I do understand that there is a chance that she might not be able to with college/work and such. Fingers and toes are crossed though.

Kleenex - LOTS of Kleenex !!! Our DS graduated Wagner College last week, I couldn't keep from crying like a baby while I was steaming his gown - thank goodness nobody else was home at the time or they'd have thought I'd completely lost it :faint:
These milestones are such happy, wonderful times but LOTS of tug at your heart emotions too!! I still haven't gotten over that DS is 21 let alone now college grad about to enter grad school in August to pursue MBA in Finance & Accounting. Our eldest DD just completed her first year at St.John's U - DH & I are wow - wasn't she just a baby too ?? Maybe by the time our little 7th grade DD is in college I'll be used to this :confused3 - oh who am I kidding??, I'll still be clutching my kleenex !

I too hate the thought of when the kids won't make all the Disney trips. So far that hasn't happened because our eldest 2 have been bringing friends along past couple of trips & their college & work schedules so far haven't been a conflict....but it will happen eventually :sad1:

Congrats on your daughter's graduation & college journey :) Pat yourself on the back too, you've done a great job raising a great kid :thumbsup2

We'll wave to you at the airport- we fly home on the 21st. :wave2: I'm pretty sure DS won't be vacationing with us next year- he has to work his way through college, like both his parents did. We want him to. Besides, he is pretty much "done" with WDW (his words).

Our eldest DS graduates HS in less than two weeks. Talk about time flying by. We are going to WDW to celebrate two days after graduation (spending some time at Universal too) for a week. He is a lifeguard / swim coach in the summer and really needed to take his vacation right away. He chose to go to Notre Dame and we are thrilled -- but a little sad that it is so far away (about a 10 hour drive). We'll all go out to Indiana to take him and for orientation (there are family events at orientation) -- DH, DS (15), and DD (12) in August. We are looking forward to the Disney trip, but I know the summer is going to go quickly. He has grown up going to Disney many times, so we thought this was a perfect trip to celebrate.party:

We had DS' college graduation celebration at BCV in March...brought his GF, his roommate and 2 other friends...SO much fun!

I not only sobbed my way thru both his graduations (HS as well as college), I cry at all my friends' and nieces/nephews' graduations, too...something about Pomp & Circumstance--and all those other parents w/streaming eyes like mine!

As for WDW...I started "moaning" that "this would be our last Disney trip cuz DS won't want to go w/his mother anymore" when we went his freshman year in HS...made the same "moan" for 3 more trips after that--on that third (the summer after HS), he persuaded me to buy DVC by promising an annual T-giving trip w/me "forever"...

We go 2-3 times a year since we bought DVC...plus I throw in another 1-2 quick trips w/other family & friends when he can't go...(I have work phases when I can do my work (using internet & phone) while at Disney--a nice "perk")...

He starts law school in August, so I figure I have three more years...then he'll be in the "real world of work" and have 2-3 weeks vacation and will he want to spend them w/Mom at Disney? Unlikely--but I've been saying that since he was 14!

Still, I love it better when he's there w/me, but still love it on my own w/other family/friends--it's all good, despite the happy tears!

Congrats to all the 2009 grads and their families--and to us moms: you know, we're graduating too...hurray for us as well as our dearly beloved kids!

We are heading to WDW end of this month, and will have oldest DD with us. She graduated last month with her Masters' in Education. Youngest DD graduated last December with her B.S.N, however, she cannot get the time off work for this trip, due to her new job at a Chicago hospital.

I am very proud of them, and their hard work has certainly paid off. Congratulations to all the other celebrating DVC grads and enjoy your WDW/DVC trips! :)

I HOPE to graduate with a Ph.D. in Public Policy in December.

I just have to get off the DIS and work on that dissertation.

We'll see.

I have until May '10 to finish.

I made it through without a tear running down my face tonight. :goodvibes I welled up a few times at the beginning when they walked in, during speeches, but it was such a festive time and all that when she walked across....I was just so excited that the tears were all dried up. So .................it was wonderful graduation and a great day from start to end. We just got home around midnight. I think because I got emotional a few times days before her graduation.....that come the time for it......I felt like "okay I can do this". Now don't even get me started about how much I will cry on Aug. 27th when we drop her to college. I am tearing up right now thinking about it. We are so close so I am sure she too will be crying. Thanks everyone for posting and congrats to all of you celebrating with your 2009 grads!!!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I'm so proud of you! I was thinking of you today as we were at a couple of grad parties. The boys are still up (must take after their mother) because they are really excited about tomorrow.

Graduation at 2 pm but the guys are supposed to get there around 12:30. First-come first-seated in the high school gym. I'll report in tomorrow night.

Congrats to all the DIS grads and their families!!
