Early Entry?

We have tickets for an early entry/magic morning and I need some advice. Run to Nemo or Peter Pan first? Over on the WDW board I read an article about avoiding Nemo entirely because even if you run there at your EE you will spend 30-40 minutes in line. Is this true at DL too? If so, when's the best time to do Nemo? :confused3

Feel free to post your ride schedule for EE/MM. I would love to see what's worked out for other people. We have a 1 1/2 year old so we'll probably skip the rides with height restrictions (FP them later on). TYIA

Well, I would tend to think that you would only spend 30-40 minutes in line for Nemo if it was not during the EE/MM hour. I would assume that the line for Nemo is not as long during the EE/MM hour because not as many guests are in the park, in which case your wait time would be cut down considerably. It will only get worse later in the day.

That said, it seems that most folks on DIS recommend heading straight for Peter Pan in FL, as that line builds fast and furiously. I am ashamed to admit I had never taken advantage of my EE/MM hour until last December - and I have had many opportunities to over the years - but when we finally did use it, we got SO much done. We headed straight for IASW Holiday first - and we were the ONLY ones on our boat, and there were only two people on the boat ahead of us. It was great! Then we backtracked and hit Peter Pan and every other dark ride in FL, as well as the Teacups and the Sleeping Beauty walk through, and there were no lines. Normally, we skip those FL rides because someone is always too impatient to wait in line. We tried to get on the Storybook Land boats, but they had not opened yet. So I would say it was a very productive hour! If ToonTown had been open, we would have gone there right away too, just to get Roger Rabbit out of the way before crowds accumulated.

The WDW article you read seems confusing, b/c...does anyone run to the Nemo ride there? I've heard it's pretty lame.

But anyway, if you want to ride the Fantasyland rides AND you want to ride Nemo during your stay, and if you only have ONE Magic Morning...you should choose which you want to do for the MM. Because people 'walk with purpose' to Nemo even still (saw it just last week) and the line grows quickly, so you don't want to dither trying to figure out what direction to go.

If Nemo is higher priority than Fantasyland, go for Nemo. If FL is higher priority than Nemo, go for FL. If you want FL but you have night owl children, you can think about FL in the evenings (or Nemo in the evenings).

Basically, Nemo is just one ride, so if you're stuck there for 30 minutes that's just 30 minutes (plus the ride). If you get to FL when all lines are full, that's a whole lot MORE time spent in line.

My opinion is to walk with a purpose to FantasyLand & work Nemo in at a different time of day. (But i'm not a Nemo fan).

Here are a couple of threads on MM that may be helpful:

"Magic Morning (Early Entry) Super Thread" by DLR29 www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675403

"Critique of MM/EE" by Hound 109 www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1392671

My recommendation (since you'll have a 1 1/2 year old) would be:

- Peter Pan (always first)
- Dumbo
- Alice
- Teacups
- Toady
- Carousel
- If still time left....Buzz or Nemo.

(Note - I'm assuming you won't be doing SM, Matterhorn, Pinocchio or Snow White during MM because of the 1 1/2 year old)

after the hour is up, I'd do (unless you're heading to the E ticket rides for touring & FP collecting):

- Storybookland
- Casey Jones
- Maybe move into Toon Town.

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

:)

We are going the 3rd week in June. We specially planned for when Peter Pan will be reopened because it is my favorite!! Considering what you've all said, I think we will head straight for Peter Pan. Thanks for the threads about MM. Those have been INVALUABLE.

We've never been on Nemo, so if we have to skip it, we'll never know what we're missing :)

Sort of OT, but about the Nemo sub topic - I hadn't really pondered why I was underwhelmed by Nemo before, and I just thought about it now, after reading your above post about not knowing what you are missing if you do miss it. If possible, I definitely think you should try Nemo one time (not necessarily during a MM hour but at some point) - just to see it for yourself. But I went on it once and have no need to go on it again unless I am with someone who really HAS to ride it. And I find that sad, because a really great ride is the kind that compels you to want to get on it multiple times in one trip or in one day (that's how my friends and I are with Buzz Lightyear, with POTC, and with TSMM). I LOVE LOVE LOVE Finding Nemo, the movie. And I liked the old version of the DL Submarine Voyage in all its hokey, kitschy, retro, nostalgic, sea monster-ish kind of goodness!, though we didn't go on it every trip, but every other trip or so we would do it. I also very much like anything with an ocean theme (I am really looking forward to the Litte Mermaid ride at DCA).

I guess the fundamental problem with the Nemo sub, in addition to the long, slow line, is that, despite all of the excellent Disney technology they have used to insert the Nemo storyline into the existing Sub ride....to me, I don't think Nemo has done anything significant to complement the Sub ride, and the existing Sub underwater layout has done nothing to enhance the Nemo theme. It still seems like the Sub ride to me, with a new 'plot,' if you will. It seems like it could have been a marriage made in heaven, but it sort of falls flat somewhere along the line. It is just rather anti-climactic to me. It seems like they stuck some screens underwater with Nemo footage from the movie and not too much more than that. I actually think a whole separate Nemo ride (not related to the Sub) somewhere in DCA would have been better, but it is too late for that now.

So take it for what it is - it is not that the Nemo Sub terrible. If you like Finding Nemo, you will at least think it's cute, but for the money I am sure Disney spent on melding the Nemo and Sub themes together, I would expect it to be spectacular...and it is not.
