Anyone have a Network railcard?

I thought I'd save myself a few pennies this summer by getting one of these for when DD(15) and I do day trips to London. Does anyone know if the minimum fare applies at all times?

This is the one condition that has been in for years and may have an impact -

On Mondays to Fridays travel is not permitted on any train departing before 10:00 hours.

Claire ;)

Found another useful clause -

Minimum fare and time restrictions apply. A minimum fare of £13 will apply to any discounted adult ticket purchased for travel on Mondays to Fridays other than public holidays. The minimum fare applies to each discounted adult ticket purchased and not to the total value of discounted tickets purchased. Anytime Day Travelcards are subject to a minimum fare of £14.80. A £5.00 minimum fare applies at all times to the purchase of discounted Zones 1-6 Off Peak Day Travelcard. Accompanying children (aged 5-15) travelling with the Network Railcard holder receive discounted travel subject to £1 minimum fare.

So an "anytime travelcard" has the price restriction of £13 - is that a specific ticket? I'm beginning to wonder if I'll make up the £25 the network card will cost when I can get an offpeak travelcard for £11 at weekends and £13.40 on weekdays.

I thought they'd simplified rail tickets!

With young persons rail cards at least, the Minimum fare does not apply in June/July/August, meaning you can travel before 10am with a discount!

I don't think this applies to a Network Card but who knows? - Rail ticket pricing is a mystery to me (it seems I can buy the same ticket a 3 different prices on the same day depending on what time I leave my home station.)

Ticket pricing is craaaazy. I've made a habit of buying months in advance online now for any long journeys I have to make. Tickets are over priced in general though, it sucks ;(

Nix sorry to say but the minimum fare applies in June, there is an easement on public holidays and in July & August only.

Dimplenose to me it sounds like you would be better getting a Family railcard. Although you are in the south east (I presume) as long as you can travel using an off peak ticket you can get 1/3 off your adult tickets and 60% of child fares. As your DD is 15 at time of buying the railcard you can still get discount for her after turning 16 :thumbsup2.

I hope this helps, if you need anymore info let me know.

I think I could use a Network railcard to travel alone or with DH or DS(18) but would have to have DD with me to use the family one.

I don't think I'd make a saving using any railcard as I only do short rail journeys usually into London. I drive everywhere else.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
