Problem at Disney Terminal

Why should they be compensated? Why do they feel they should be entitled to something? The cruise isn't cancelled.

And if they leave at 5pm, they'll be on schedule.

While missing a couple of hours on board might be a downer, I would hope that people would want safety to come first and not think that one of the "suits" mentioned before would be thinking "Gosh we could delay boarding but then we'd have to offer everyone something (figures run through his head). No, no... let's just let everyone on board and hope for the best."

That being said, Disney being Disney, there might be a free cocktail hour or a small onboard credit offered. But should passengers ask for something? IMO, no.

I agree. don't shoot the messenger. I hate to tell them "I told you so" about getting to the port early. Lesson learned for my cruise in August. At the same time they are in the car with 2 kids and no potty.

It is such a shame because it is truly a crappy day weather wise. Not a great day to kill time at the beach. Safety is the most important thing but I really feel for those waiting at the port. It is such a short cruise that you want to squeeze every minute possible out of it.

Wow! Im glad they are cautious about certain packages. Im happy I sail with a company that checks into everything, despite the inconvience it may cause for a couple hours!!

When we were delayed boarding a few hours due to a cold customs inspection a few years ago nothing was offered to compensate us and we didn't expect anything. This was not the fault of DCL. We were in line in the parking lot and DD4 had to use the bathroom. I was just about to pull out a couple of beach towels and walk to the back of the parking lot with her. That is a horrible situation to be in with little kids and there is nowhere very close to take them to a bathroom.

Me too! One of the many reasons why we pay the extra bucks to sail Disney. Thanks, Disney for being cautious and having our safety as a priority.

Since they are in a car....there is a McDonalds on A1A very near the terminal--bathrooms, water...even food if the kids are hungry. This is where we were diverted to on the maiden voyage!

When we sailed on our frist cruise in 2005, there was a "bomb scare" at the port. We were late to board, however we did sail on time. DCL was wonderful about everything. They handed out bottle waters, and even moved us over to another terminal to wait in the air conditioning. We all got a free cocktail at dinner that night, which was really unexpected, but nice. On our cruise, the police sniffing dogs alerted them to a bag. Come to find out that the person's suitcase was stored in the shed next to fertalizer, which apprently is used in bomb making. Even though we were disappointed about not be able to board right away, I was glad they took the time to investigate it!!!!

It would not be the first time(or the last)my kids/grandkids have gone to the potty in a parking lot or behind a bush.

I would definately not be expecting anything "extra" from Disney once on board.

My friend at the port just texted me "all clear" so it seems that the situation is returning to normal! :woohoo:

...yup.

...they got the 'weapon' and culprit already....

...but srsly, I'm glad no one was hurt and evrything is okay...

They are boarding now. Glad everything is okay - must be reassuring to know that everything was checked out :)

That happened to us once - something suspicious so they called out the bomb squad I think. We waited in the parking lot for about 2 or 3 hours before we could board. There were some people already on board enjoying a very empty ship for a long time! All was fine. I'm glad they are extra cautious!

That's what we got a few years ago on our first cruise. I think it was free sail away drinks and a free drink at dinner, too. I don't recall paying for that first big splash of rum on cruise #1!

We hiked across the gravel parking lot where there were two porta potties. I think it must've been a good half mile walk. The doors were locked. ARGH!

I wonder if we were on the same cruise. Ours was a 3 night in Sept 2005.

In February we were on the ship but not allowed to set sail because a suspicious device was found in a construction area. In fact we did not sail until the end of our 5:30 dinner seating. I never even thought that they should compensate us in any way. Things happen.

Sailed Carnival a few years back and there was an issue on the ship and they were not letting the people off. We got on a few hours later and everyone got a $60 credit on their account, not per cabin but per person. Didn't expect it but it was a nice surprise.
