Hi Everyone! been looking for a cool forum where i can relate to everyone with my love of Disney.
My name might throw you off but, its from the Pinocchio's Daring Journey ride, the hologram of Lampwick in the ride. its a cool effect and one of my favorites at Disneyland.

I am also a new CM! i just got hired into Out Door Vending, i do my paperwork next week and get my name tag!
I am going to say that i am nervous from all the stories i have heard of rude guests who hit, spit, or yell at cast members! But i will manage!
i am excited still thought!

Any other ODV or CM's in general?

Hello!!! Welcome to Disboards. Any search on here is awesome with lots of knowledgeable people. Oh and welcome to retail... Dont be nervous about your job. It wont be nearly bad as you expect. Any type of job where you work around the clock such as that with constant people will have it's ups and downs. If you work in a clothing store your going to get it there too.
I wont lie to you. Sure your going to come across some extremely rude ungrateful pushy impatient customers (We all have to deal with this). Hopefully you wont get hit or spit on. I dont see why you would but just remember that there is security everywhere in DL and if you have any issues you can have that person reported. I am sure there are cameras EVERYWHERE in that park. But on the upside your also going to come across many extremely wonderful people too that will make your day just awesome. Just ask them about their day and what they look forward to doing, and maybe throw out a few tips here or there, and they will love you forever.

As I understand the Agreement between the Company and the Union, the new Vendor role (ODV-QSR) will first be populated by Voluntary and Mandatory Transfers from Outdoor Vending/Ventures before being populated by Internal Transfers from other LOBs, Internal Reclassifications of other Food & Beverage Cast Members (Ex: QSR to ODV-QSR) and New Hires.

As such, any New Hire into ODV at this time is going to either Vending or Ventures first, and will be offered the opportunity to reclassify to ODV-QSR on the same basis as other ODV Cast Members. If not enough people go to ODV-QSR voluntarily, the Company will initiate Mandatory Transfers on a Reverse Seniority basis, in which case the New Hire would be among the first to be sent.

hmm, 99% of the vendors go to Vending first. Rarely do i see vendors go to Ventures on hire. I know ONE so far.. but he was trained at Vending first and got to Ventures within like 3 weeks.

I would think they would send them to ODV-QSR but since im not over in Vending, im not sure how they are running. But part of the department is converted. But, id think they start training us by now since department transition is only a month away. So guessing OP will go straight into ODV-QSR since id say a high percentage of ODV dont want to go to QSR, but thats just what ive heard from my fellow CMs.

Welcome to the disboards and good luck with your adventure as a CM! There will be rude people everywhere in life, even at Disneyland or WDW... and sometimes especially there because for some people, they think the rules of life don't apply to them when they are on vacation. What can you do other than put on a smile and handle it as best as you can in a professional manner. Hopefully you won't have any of those encounters as a CM, but if you do, like you said, I'm sure you'll handle it very well

welcome...enjoy your new job! That is terrible if people spit on CM's when they are mad. No matter how upset about something at DL or WDW I would never spit on someone. I live by "treat others how you want to be treated"!

I will not get a chance ot meet you Glendalais, sigh. Albort now I know where to find you, muahaha. Wait that is against my policy. I am in the parks to have fun and not to hunt down CMs. It would be like me going to a business just to talk to friends. I know where one person works but do not hunt her down and go to talk to her.
