Has anyone ever done the Premium Dining Plan? I'm wondering if it's worth it for a shorter trip we're planning....if anyone did go PDP, did you get your money's worth - it looks like a lot of the recreation you pay for is included in the plan....did you have trouble using the recreation items?

We've never used it, but we've analyzed the heck out of it and came to the conclusion that we'll try it on a kid-free trip. For it to make sense, you do have to use a LOT of the recreation options, and in our case, the kids being too young for the tours, golf, spa, parasailing, etc. made it rather pointless for a family trip.

We used it for our honeymoon in december and LOVED it! We did parasailing, a tour everyday, horseback riding and more. The only hard part was trying to schedule everything in with ADRs.
I had my husband create a spreadsheet and we booked the most interesting tours/activities first then everything else around it. We ate at table service for every meal which was intense, but for 7 days we only spent 200 in tips and that was a Christmas gift from family so we weren't worried. And trying new foods was super fun, especially the appetizers at many place and my DH loved yachtsman wagu beef steak. We did have about 12 snacks leftover because we were so full from our meals we were never hungry. We never finished dessert especially since they always brought us a free dessert in addition to what we ordered. And we are not huge people but mmm yummmy! Boy did I eat and no we didn't gain weight as many say. We both stayed exactly the same before and after.

The only thing we wanted to to but it was too cold was rent a double bike- we thought it would be fun honeymoon type thing to do.

I've never done this particular plan, but five years ago when I was on my honeymoon my DH and I stayed at the yacht club with the gold plan, which doesn't exist anymore. Anyway, the one thing we loved about it was we recieve Cirque du Soleil tickets, if it is part of the Premium Plan do it, it was Outstanding! The section we were sitting in was great, and the price of the tickets on their own are pretty expensive ( which is why we have not been back since). We never did any of the tours that were included, we just eat at some really great restaurants in the world.
There is always so much to do, and so little time to do it in - enjoy!

Ditto. I fantasize about a (short) adults-only trip at some future time with either the Premium or Platinum package. (The latter adds a spa treatment per person per stay, a photopass CD per party per stay, and adds Victoria & Albert's to the list of covered restaurants. $50/pp/night more, but easily pays for itself over Premium on a short trip.)

We have a definite trip coming up in October 2011...and I'm intrigued by the plan, but DS won't be old enough for many of the tours - but then again, we'd have access to unlimited child activity centers! Decisions, decisions....DH isn't a huge fan of Disney World per se, but loves fishing, golf and a lot of the recreation....so who knows? I've got a lot of time to decide!

Yeah, come to think of it I think it was the Platinum plan we were eyeing too, because of the fireworks cruise and the spa treatments and the chance to try V&A. When our kids get a little bigger and we're a little more comfortable leaving them out of a Disney trip (right now, DD7 would be heartbroken if we went without her!), we're going to take a short trip with a few nights on the platinum plan and a night or two room only to drive down and spend an afternoon watching the Tigers in spring training. Since that's a time of year we'd usually avoid because of the crowds, I think it would be perfect timing for the reserved F! seating, fireworks cruise, early tours and non-park recreation of the Platinum package.
