Help Me Plan The ULTIMATE Trip! 7/8-You have to be kidding me!?!

HI! I'm Kat. I'm a Disney addict.

Hello Kat.

This year we can't afford to make it down to Disney, too many other expenses have come up (new TV for DH, a sick cat, new furniture, etc.). So why a trip report??

Because I need a Disney fix!

I have been planning and thinking of our next trip since we got home from the last one (November of 2008, TR link in my siggie). It's not in the cards for this year but I am hoping to work out a budget plan so we can get down there at the end of 2010!

Thats where this TR comes in. I want help! I want to make this the best trip ever!!! And what better way to do that but to plan it along side the best source, the DIS, and to have the opinions of people who really know!

So welcome to the madness.

I will go into more specifics as we go along but for now... how about an intro.

This is me.

I'm a stay at home wife currently, looking for some part time work. I have a great DH, whom we'll get into more on in future updates, who works in the IT field in NYC. We live in Brooklyn, in a studio apartment. We are also hoping this is the last year in this apartment, as a studio is just too small sometimes.

So thanks for stopping by and feel free to speak up and tell me what you think about things, because I need opinions!

Just thought I would share this Mini TR with you all. I posted it on the TFW thread and thought those non fockers would enjoy it too.

I live in Brooklyn, NY, which is a quick subway ride to NYC.

The main plan was just to stay out and about and not stay home, since it's super lonely without my kitty in the house. For those that aren't aware, I had to put my kitty of 17 years to sleep this past Saturday. Staying home has been really hard and weird since Bale isn't there anymore. I have been trying to stay occupied as much as I can, and this was DH's first full day back at work in a week and I didn't wanna go it lone in the house.

Anyways.

I was up early that morning, straightened my hair and was out the door around 10:30am. After a quick stop at Dunkin Donut's for some coffee (ahh life blood) I was on the subway on my way to NYC.

My first stop was lunch with our very good friend, Pants. I had to get off at a station I don't normally use so I asked directions and got to his building easily. Apparently he works directly across from Ground Zero! It's such an errie feelign down there, even now.

Of course I snapped a pic while I waited on the steps of his building.

We had lunch at Subway and shared a sammie and great conversation. He's a great listener, and I know thats why he is KC's BFF.

I left him around 1:30 and got back on the subway headed up town. I got off at 5th Ave and 60th street, which is right by Central Park and The Plaza Hotel.

These were in bloom across from The Plaza. So pretty!

I wandered a few blocks down and headed for the closest thing I could find to the Happiest Place On Earth....a little slice of Disney in NYC.

I wandered around a bit, taking some pictures. I got some weird looks from people but WHATEVER!

The weird (to me) vinylamation (or whatever they are called) thingies had this display.

I made my rounds downstairs scoping out possible purchases. I saw a mug with Tink on it I almost bought! It was her in the morning with a sleep mask on, all disheveled, and it said "mornings are not magical". There was a whole series of them and they were funny! BUT I have like 5 Disney mugs lol.

In my travels Is aw my friend that works there, BUT she was behind the register so I didn't get to say HI.

I did find something new that I never saw before:

It's the view through the window upstairs of the outside statues. I thought it was neat and made a cool pic!

As you go up and down the escalators there are neat pillars, this one is the ode to the wilderness lodge, I think.

I made my way through all 3 floors and found my purchases. On the line to checkout I saw this and had to shoot a pic.

So after I paid I went downstairs to use the bathroom because it's usually a very clean bathroom. Thankfully it still was.

There are actually some neat paintings down there. So naturally i took some pics.

And this one's for you , Lessa. (ignore the bathroom sign, lol)

I also checked out the little seen side windows around the corner and saw this, I had also never seen it before.

It's actually the backside of the elevator inside. Neato.

Wanna see what I bought????

I got the white chocolate cocoa for KC (his fav of their flavors), a Boo charm to put on my cell phone, the I heart NY note pad (on sale $1.99) and my fav- My first Jim Shore Tinkerbell!!! What did I pay for everything? $5.73!!!! I had Disney Reward Dollars leftover so I used 'em on me!

So I made my way downtown. I decided to walk rather than spend another $2 to get on the subway. It was nice out and I got to stroll.

I did see this, which was freakin' weird.

Guy carrying a giant soccer ball down the block. Only in NY.

I ended up visiting some old wrestling friends at work and waiting for them to get off work. We ended up strolling down to 34th street and chatting. Then I did a bit of wandering and shopping in the Herald Square area.

I had a view of this the whole time.

Usually the colors are cooler, it was a bland night for the Empire State Building I guess.

I ended up at my favorite destination in that area:

Borders, next to Madison Square Garden. They need more comphy seating but it's nice just the same. I sat and read and drank some coffee. And I randomly ended up running into a friend of ours, Steven. He and I chatted for a long while , while waiting for KC to get off work (he works 3 blocks away). it was nice to have someone to chat with.

When KC finally finished with work (about 9pm) we parted with our friends and went home.

And thats my veeeery looong day in NYC! Hope you enjoyed!

Ok let's get this puppy started, whatdaya say?

The 2 definite people who will be on this trip are me & DH, of course!

DH is KC. he's a techie-geek type of guy and I wouldn't have it any other way. He's much younger than I am (*cough*8years*cough) but we get along ridiculously well. We met about 6 years ago, at a wrestling event. For those who don't know, I used to be a professional wrestler. Anyway, he was at the event and as soon as I saw him, that was it. We had a lot of hurdles to end up together but here we are still going strong. He is also awesome about my Disney obsession! He loves it too, always has a great time, and secretly thanks the DIS for all its help since because of the DIS he never waits on lines for anything! He's really great, a keeper for sure.

So what do we look like? Here's a retrospect of us over the years.

They are great friends of ours and were a lot of fun to travel with last time! I'm pretty sure if I plan a trip, they will come!

This is Pants. (& me)

He is KC's BFF and a blast to travel with! We really had great times together last time!

Last but not least will be my BFF, L & her daughter H. They live 45 minutes from WDW and have come to see us every time we have gone down. She and I were estranged for about 8 years and found each other randomly on the computer. We actually had our reunion at CBR when KC & I went for F&W. Now we can't see each other enough- we have 8 years to make up for.
