Chapter 36. The saki experience.
I apoligize for the absense in TR updates as of late, but have been very busy, and thanks to the followers who are still with us.
Our plan was to get a drink in each contry, well that fell short about 4 countries ago, so we just continued on, however the saki was not going to get away from me this trip...i have always heard about it and have been very curious about this drink.
We made our way to Japan and were now on the look out for this mystical drink...i had very high hopes because i like chinese and japanese food, why would i not like there drink.
we had arrived at Japan.
We found the building where it was sold and scaled the stairs to its entrance. Upon entering we were greeting by some very lovely japanese ladies behind the counter...I walked up to them and began a conversation about saki, asking about it, and such.
I was informed that it could be served cold or hot. also that is is spelled sake but is pronounced like saki, so that is how i am going to write it.
it is made from a rice wine, well i like wine and like rice so put em together and i will like saki, or will i.
So i tell her i will have a saki, she says hot or cold i say which is better, she says on a cooler day like today get the hot so i agree and she pores me a glass.
While she is handing me the glass, she leans over the counter and says to parker.
"no saki for you"
and laughs uncontrollably, so do the other ladies behind the counter, and once they start to laugh parker is laughing at them and then we start to laugh, you would have thought everyone was drunk on saki.
i take a sip before i get outside and am not sure what to think...
candi says well how is it. and i say here you take a drink.
i tell her to wait let me get the camera out.
the drink.
the reaction.
she did not like it and had a bad taste in her mouth.
now it is melissas turn.
the reaction.
i got better reactions than the bevererly drink pics.
now my turn...
i did not have a reaction, if something tastes bad, i reallydont make a face, i just take it and drink it.
this picture is great it is about 4 minutes after she had a sip and candis face is still all grossed out.
it was time to leave japan and go onward with our saki.
but first we convince candi to take another drink, i am very persuasive...we tell her to plug her noise and she wont taste it. here is the video of said experience.
isnt that great.
it is hard to describe the taste, to me it tasted like drinking some really warm hard alcohol that bit you on the way down. just cant pin what alcohol it tasted like. it is one of those things you just have to try. i am sure that 2 or 3 could put you down for the count.
and on to morocco we go.
i really do not like it when bell dresses this way she does not look like a princess so we take a drive by photo of her and head on.
and make our way to italy.
now i am still drinking the saki, i dont like it but i dont hate it, i am probably drinking it a little faster than i should be drinking it. this stuff was strong.
the reason i know it was strong is about half way through the glass, and it was a pretty big glass, i was feeling it a little bit...well while watching the end of this act...i downt he rest of it in a fast guilp candi looks at me and says are you done with it already, i say yep.
she asks why i drank it if i did not like it, i say i paid for it im drinking it...i dont like to waste beer or alchol if i pay for it.
this guy was really good, i wish i had seen the whole act.
and we venture on to the santa that is just coming out to tell his story.
candi is getting hungry and since me and melissa ate it is her turn for her fish and chips in the UK
we sat down for a nice dinner along the water and to relax while she had her dinner.
with a visitor from the water, i feed him some fries.
she liked the fish and chips but we have had better her at home locally.
it seems like we had flown through the contries but we had actually taken about 2-3 hours to tour the world, it was much faster than our normal time with them but we had plans for the evening to see some morethings and do some stuff in future world.
but first we still had to go past americas hat "canada" just kidding my canadian readers, we like you. you keep our tops warm.
i hope you guys enjoyed the saki experience. as much as we enjoyed it...andi would encourage you to try it, next trip i willt ry it cold and see if that makes a difference.
if anything it will be a good buzz.
