Resort window decorations?

I've read about a lot of people decorating their resort windows-but mostly at the values. Does anyone decorate at moderates?? I think it would be fun to do, but I don't want to be the only one who's ever done that. I can live with being the only one at the resort at that time, but would I be silly in decorating at CSR? Thanks!

We decorated when we were on our honeymoon at POR last year and we got tons of compliments. We had our whole door and window decorated. I say, if it's fun for you, do it, and who cares what anyone else thinks!!

Values and Mod guests do. Deluxe generally do not since they have internal hallways ( though some do) My SIL was asked to remove hers at SSR.

Hi I don't want it to seem like I am hijacking this thread but I wanted to ask a similar question. Since this was here I didn't want to start a new post. As for decorating the windows can I use those window markers, the ones they use on cars, to draw something or write our names on the windows to our room? I will take some windex and clean it off before we leave, or do you think mousekeeping will get mad.

TIA

I wouldn't. There have been reports of people being asked to remove the writing, or just being hit with a cleaning fee, after using those markers on the window.

A few clings on the window, some magnets on the door, that's fine. But any kind of tape or markers on the window may be an issue.

I bought some disney window clings at Target. We are planning on decorating our window at CBR for our May-June trip.

May I please respectfully ask why you want to do this? I have read about others doing this as well and could never figure out why. Is there something I just don't get about this?

We haven't done it before because we have always stayed deluxe but I think this year we might since we will be at POFQ. I think it will be fun for my kiddos 4and6. I think they will have a blast finding our room at the end of the day. It might even encourage them to walk faster and not whine about the walk back to the room. Enough reason for me!

We've decorated at SSR, POR, POFQ, and CBR without any problems. We do use tape, but we are always very careful to remove all of it. In fact I usually find myself removing other people's tape when I put up our decorations on the first day. We receive lots of compliments, even from managers.

Do what you think is fun for your family! A 4 and 6 year old will love to have special things in the window...mousekeeping may even migrate any Disney animals into your window as well, and that's always fun to return too!

When I was at CBR a few days after this past X-mas thru NYE, I saw a few rooms with christmas lights in the windows and on the their tv center and such..

We do vinyl clings and put some stuffed animals on the window sill. We may tape on some decorative garland and/or some Home Depot Mickey head paint samples. Lime green Mickey heads. :cool1:

Some people hang lights from suction cups.

I want to because I've seen pictures of people's windows and doors and I think it looks really neat! I decorate my door for most holidays in our apartment and I thought it would be cool to take it to WDW. I also want to take our Stitch collection and stick them in the window-we've found so many cool stuffed Stitches with different costumes hehe :)

I did a small decoration on our CBR window in 2007. In 2008, the trip was a surprise trip and a spur-of-the-moment trip so I had to keep everything hidden. Just didn't have the time to get my decorations together. When I did decorate, I just did our names individual names on the lime green Mickey heads and then did my username on one too. I put them in the window with a couple of window clings around them.

Just this small decoration helped us find our room and, I hope, that other disers saw it as well.

we stayed at Pop - and went at a time when a lot of other Dis'ers were going - and staying at Pop - so we decorated!

since then I've read that they (resorts) can charge for cleaning - we did clean up - I believe this was Sept '07

when we went with my mom - she brought a lot more - lights, hanging ghouls - it was fun -

I can't explain it - it is just a fun thing to do! For our usual Halloween trip down we decorate with Halloween characters - including lights! Alot of fun! The kids love it. :thumbsup2

I probably wouldnt use the window markers. I too have heard reports of a cleaning charge being tacked on. One point to keep in mind, mousekeeping has been cut waay back due to the economy, you may just get the 1 mousekeeper who unfortunately is feeling the pinch of having to do the job of 3 people and then feels she/he has to now clean your windows.

I'd stick with the normal clingys

We'll be decorating for our May trip at CBR...

Since we're staying in a Pirate room... we've decided to design our own Disney Pirate Flag (Black Cotton fabric and iron on transfers) to hang in our window. I was also able to find some nemo wall clings that I'll stick to card stock and hang as well. We plan on filling our window sill with plastic gold coins, jewels, and an inflatable pirate sword (all found at Party City) to continue with our "underwater pirate theme". To top it off... I found gel window clings at our local dollar store with a fish/reef theme.

We've had a lot of fun "designing" our window... it's been a fun way to help past the time. The materials were also pretty inexpensive... we just needed to get creative!

13 more days to go! pirate:

We decorated last year at POR! It was fun just to identify our window while riding the bus, plus we overheard lots of comments. We have used Disney gel gems. We also got some Halloween gems for cheap at the end of last year we are planning to use this year. I just think it is fun to do! But, I have a weird personality like that---so I'm told.
BTW- I'm totally aW WDW addict too! :thumbsup2
