My March 2009 DDE Dining Report w/pics, updated 6/9 pg15

Rose & Crown Pub, alcohol, 3.8.09

Somehow, I don't have this drink written down in my notes!!! :scared1: It was before the 2:30 Off Kilter, I'm pretty sure, and well, at least I have a picture of it! And I'm guessing it's from the pub, but really, I'm almost positive. So yeah, Magical Star Cocktail please, sub bacardi for the coconut rum, of course!
pic184.jpg

Then I settled in for some Off Kilter...and the whole band was there, finally!

Tutto Italia Kiosk, alcohol, 3.8.09

Between the 2:30 and 3:30 show, I mosied on over to Italy, to get myself an Italian Margherita. Italian Margherita - Lemoncello, Grappa and Margherita Mix. I really love this drink, so tangy and delicious.
pic210.jpg

Then of course, back to Canada. Where this little squirrel was running around. Off Kilter = squirrel approved :thumbsup2

Les Vins des Chefs de France, alcohol, 3.8.09

Man, this day I was really lacking in the notes department! I'm sure I went and saw Off Kilter at 5:30 and 6:30, and got drinks before each, but LOL no notes, just pictures! But hey, at least I have the pictures! That's the important part! So right, after the 3:30 show, I went and did some stuff in Future World (Soarin, Visa Meet, etc), I stopped by France to pick myself up a Grey Goose Slush to bring with me to the 5:30 show. Yummy!
pic254.jpg

And they never cease to crack me up!

Rose & Crown Pub, alcohol, 3.8.09

That's right, I went back! It's just so convenient to Canada. And well, Canada was where I wanted to be! Right, so before the 6:30 show, er, or the 7:30, not sure at this point (remember, no notes!) I got another Magical Star, same sub. Ah, who knows, who cares, just bring on the alcohol!
pic269.jpg

Okay, so I think that's it. That's all I have pictures of, anyway! Ha! So yeah, lots of good booze and music, now that makes for a great day! Oh, and guess what, it's not over yet! I made the decision to hit the evening EMH at MK that night, so after the 7:30 Off Kilter, I needed some food first. So I went to Marrakesh. That's coming up next!

next up: dinner @Marrakesh

I had the Magical Star Cocktail in January and loved it. :cloud9:

I'm glad things are working out for you on the homefront, and you're back to posting! :grouphug:

wow, hi everyone! lots of people on board, yahooo!!!

this is gonna be a real real quickie, i have to head out the door in about 5 minutes. but anyway, here we go!!!!

Main Street Bakery, breakfast, 3.4.08

The line wasn't too bad when I arrived here around 10:15am. I'm used to seeing it all the way out to the door, but I only had like 10 people in front of me. So that made me happy. But what didn't make me happy? Well, when I asked for a French Toast Loaf, I was told they retired it. What???? I know, you all have had time to digest this by now, but it was a major shocker for me. I may have mentioned this before, but this is seriously the ONLY food in the world (not just the Disney World, the entire World!!!) that I sincerely looked forward to eating. And they took it away. I almost cried. I kid you not.

So I stood there in shock for a couple minutes, and finally decided I may as well try the cinnamon roll, since it gets rave reviews on here too. Well, fine, that will have to do. And I always get a plain soymilk here. So I asked for one. To my surprise (again!!!), well, they have downsized. It used to be a nice big bottle, but now it's like a juice pack thing. Bummer! Also grabbed a banana on my way to check out.

And so here's my tray

And a close up of the cinnamon roll

I'm sorry, I wanted to love it. Maybe it was just the disappointment, but well, I thought it was just okay. I will not be waiting on any long bakery lines anytime in the near future. At least not unless they unretire my beloved french toast loaf.

next up: drinks, of course!

Just finding your dining review thread..and getting started on reading it  but I just had to share in your disapointment about the French Toast Loaf...it is an absolute travesty!!! Howeverm there is a recipe posted for it on allears.net that is very good. My DH makes it for Christmas morning the last 2 years and every once in a while in between....just a thought!! :wizard:

EDITED TO ADD.....I should have read further before I opened my mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic reviews - I've just read through all the pages so far.

I love the look of the Bistro, it's a restaurant I've been 'toying' with for a while but I think your review has just clinched it for me :thumbsup2

What a nice afternoon! I second the recommendation for the italian margarita. YUM-O! I will also add the magic-star to my list of things to try and I'm going to have to make it a point to see Off Kilter! ::yes:: I can't believe I call myself a DIS-er and I've never seen them!

Restaurant Marrakesh, dinner, 3.8.09

Alrighty, so I don't think I had any plans for dinner this night, but as I said, I decided that I needed to go to the evening EMH at the Magic Kingdom, and I figured I may as well eat in Epcot before heading over, since the EMH didn't start til 10pm. And well, I've experienced it enough times to know the later you get there, the better.

Right, so it was just about 8pm when Off Kilter finished, and I made my way over to Morocco, since I figured I had a pretty good chance of getting in there without a wait. And I was right. They didn't make me wait at all, in fact, they took me right to a table, as if they had been waiting for me, LOL! So just so you know, this is a restaurant that you have a pretty good shot getting into if you don't have an ADR :thumbsup2

As soon as I sat down, my waiter asked me my name so he could write it in Arabic on my table. Cool! Then he saw me taking pics, so he wrote it in marker next to the pen. Check it out!
pic270.jpg

Of course, my first course of action was to order a cocktail. I didn't write down which one I got, but I'm guessing based on the menu that it was Marrakesh Express - Cruzan coconut rum, orange juice, and pineapple juice, topped with Meyer's dark rum, and that I subbed regular rum.
pic271.jpg

Noticing me taking pics, another waiter came by and told me I could borrow his hat and he'd take a pic of me with my drink. Love these guys here, really, always have been so kind and accommodating.
pic272.jpg

As you can see on the table, they had also brought me some bread to enjoy before my meal.
pic273.jpg

I placed my order, then it was time for the entertainment...the music and the belly dancer! Yay! She's fun and the music is festive.
pic284.jpg

For my meal, I ordered the Mediterranean Seafood Platter - shrimp ragout, broiled salmon, and seafood bastilla. The bastilla came out as an appy, along with a little salad. This was pretty good. Never tried it before, so it was different.
pic274.jpg

Pretty much as soon as I was done with that, the main portion came out. Yum yum, I love seafood!
pic280.jpg

The salmon was a little dry, but eating a bite of it with the tomato mixture helped that. The shrimp was good though. And I was out of there by 8:45pm. Yeah, they're pretty quick. Not that I was gonna complain, gave me time to stop at the Polynesian for another drink before hitting the EMH at the MK!

Tambu Lounge, alcohol, 3.8.09

Yes, so well, since I had some time to kill, I decided I may as well liquor myself up at the Tambu Lounge before hitting the dry park, lol! I would have walked to the BW and taken a bus straight to the MK, but since I wanted to go to the Poly anyway, I walked to the front of the park and caught the monorail to the TTC, and walked to the Poly from there.

So I got to the bar at 9:15, pulled up a chair, and there was a bartender here that I've had before, and I recognized him, but it's been a while, and he didn't remember me. That's ok, I didn't remember his name anyway! Oh yes, and I ordered myself a Lapu Lapu. Man, I don't remember these being so strong! But seriously, this was a killer!
pic287.jpg

pic288.jpg

And of course, the bartender asked if I wanted a pic w/my pineapple. Sure, bring it on!
pic289.jpg

I wanted to start making my way over to the MK, and I had only finished half of the drink! Oh, genius that I am, I went and washed out my refillable mug and dumped it in there! That thing comes in really handy. I do not advocate smuggling booze out of the bars, but well, uh, yeah. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

I finished up my drink on the monorail ride over, and arrived at the gates at 9:55, perfect timing! Had a blast that night, as I always do at the evening EMH at MK. This is really the only one I recommend going to out of the night ones, but really, good times :thumbsup2

next up: lunch @Tutto Italia

Great reviews, I must try a Lapu lapu at the polynesian on my upcoming trip without the kiddies:goodvibes

I had to laugh at this. When I was down there for the food and wine festival a few years ago my bff and I made friends with a couple of women who were smuggling their glasses of wine out of Epcot. They didn't even transfer their drinks to mugs. I think they hid them in their shorts or something. :)

Oh my gosh I just laughed SO loud when I read about your booze smuggling, LOL!!!! That's awesome!! We got a 5pm Ohana ressie and EMH at MK that night go until 2AM! ITA that later is better, so I'm trying to think of what we can do after dinner before going back to the park. Any ideas? My friend has never been to WDW before so I'm thinking maybe explore the monorail hotels and their bars? Have you been to them? LMK! Thanks for the reviews they are awesome as always!

:lmao:

I had to chuckle as I, too, have been known to use my mug to smuggle booze.

You naughty! ;)

Glad you're back and posting more yummy reviews Marcia - hope things have settled down for you at home now
