Does anybody ship packages from home to their resort? We've done this at POR and had no problem. Just wonder if the DVC resorts are any different.

Just shipped FedEx ground to SSR and had no problems. (No fees either.) packages just left SSR on Friday so haven't received them back yet.

We did last October. Used UPS to ship to Boardwalk...no problems on either end.

Mine should be arriving at SSR today via UPS ground for our arrival on Saturday

Another question....just curious. How big of a box do you ship and what do you usually send? I don't want to send too big of a box and look ridiculous picking it up.

I have shipped down food and toiletries in the past, especially when I had kids in diapers! It worked perfectly!

Just a note. The shipping procedures have changed. They are now charging you fees to receive your package if you are staying at one of the Convention Hotels. They are also charging fees if you are staying at any hotel and sending your package home. This is on top of the regular shipping charges.

To ship packages home, what is involved?

I imagine that you put on your own shipping label with your address along with packing and taping your own box, right?

Do you take the box to the front desk at the resort to ship it, and then how is it determined what carrier and what/how you pay? As in, does disney decide if it's going US mail or UPS, or do they always ship the same way?

thanks!

At least at Saratoga Springs, this fee is not being consistently enforced. I was not charged it last week.

I have a Fed Ex account so I bring already filled-out Fed Ex shipping forms with my number on it ready to go. I tape closed the boxes and then tape one end of the Fed Ex form to each box. Bell services picks them up from my room (I tip them) and put them in the area for Fed Ex pick-up.

Strange, we received a shipped package just a few weeks ago they didn't charge us any kind of fee.

Here is what's suppose to happen. The inbound packages at the following resorts are now processed by a outside vendor and they are allowed to charge a fee.
BCV
BWV
BLT

The following resorts are still processed by Disney with no fee.
OKW
SSR
AKV
VWL

I send a package about 35-40pds. It usually costs about 35 bucks. I send a lot. Food, toiletries, juice....booze;)

The box is pretty big....I make sure that 1 person can lift it....although last time....I was worried:headache:

What about boxes coming from another company and NOT from home. Last summer we shipped cases of water from Costco to OKW and BCV. We didn't pay any shipping at all. Costco ships for free. Do you think we would pay a fee to receive these in July at BCV?? Thanks

I heard of one person saying they charged him an extra $10.

It doesn't matter where it was shipped from, if the package is handled by IKON they can charge a fee.

We use to ship until Disney lost our box. Since then we found Owners Locker and don't know how we lived without it. Their service is wonderful and it's so nice to have our locker waiting for us when we check in. :goodvibes

DIS members currently qualify for a discount: http://www.disboards.com/announcement.php?f=28&a=222

I also used to ship a box down; now I also have an Owners Locker. I love the convenience of leaving our 'villa stuff' down there.
