BAND GEEKS Takin' Over the World! LINK TO NEW TR!! Go to last page 10/17

Band geeks rule, haters drool! :worship:
Tim

:thumbsup2

Another former band geek jumpin in for this PTR. I was a high school band member a few moons ago playing flute, piccolo and occasionally percussion/misc. Many of my classmates were in the PCC Tournament of Roses Honor Band (I was first chair and I never did it, was afraid I would mess up on tv), I sure wish I had auditioned now that I look back. I have nothing but great memories about band, we were all a family.

Love your hidden mickey in the fruit pizza! Your kiddos are sure cute!

:yay: Welcome!!! I'm hoping to get lots of band geeks on board.. I'm sure there will be lots of band-o references :)

I have a good friend who worked with the color guard for the PCC TOR band for many years. Too bad you didn't get a chance to march. Don't you hate looking back at mistakes you made in High School?:sad2:

Glad you're here!!

So.. it's time for the stroller debate:dance3: You all were looking forward to this, weren't you?

We will only have one child in need of a stroller this trip. And I am thanking the stroller Gods every day that I no longer have to push around the double stroller BEAST!!:worship:

When we took our quickie getaway in September, we just used the cheap, Wal-mart umbrella stroller for Shae. This time, I'm debating using a Disney stroller for her. Let me share my thought why:

Why I support taking the umbrella stroller only:

SAVE MONEY
We can use it for the walks back to BCV from Epcot
SAVE MONEY
Smaller and less intrusive to fellow visitors
SAVE MONEY
Can use at the resort as well

Why I support renting a Disney stroller:

Lots of storage possibilties (cup holders, etc.)
Sun shade (umbrella stroller doesn't have)
Sturdier
Don't have to drag on buses/boats/monorails
Lots of storage possibilities

Please share your opinions or ideas!! Thanks so much!

Hi Sooze! Just wanted to weigh in on the great stroller debate! I sooooo hear your point on the saving money!! Being that the umbrella is so small and compact, I would bring it especially staying at BCV because if you walk to Epcot and DHS that might be too much for little Shea's legs. Then maybe when you go to AK and MK you can rent one that way you aren't spending as much money as if you rented the entire week. Just my 2 cents of course!:goodvibes

wish i could weigh on on the stroller debate..but i have no experience with strollers:laughing:

Just from what I saw, I think the sun is a HUGE deal. The Disney ones have super shading abilities, and I would just get nervous if your other one didn't shield from the sun very well.

I guess, since we're driving, I could always throw it in the car to use around the resorts and walks to Epcot and DHS. We DO plan on coming back to the resort often, so it'd be helpful. Great thoughts! Thanks so much!!

I feel the same way... I have never been during Spring Break with a child, so I don't know how bad the sun/heat will be:confused: I do like to have the shade, especially when she's sleeping in the stroller. Thanks for weighing in.. you had a good thought, even with no experience!:thumbsup2

Oh, I'm all over stroller questions... I've used 4 differetn ones at WDW and have lots of opinions, lol!

Those two reasons right there are my big ones. Leo hasn't really needed a stroller for the MK, DHS or AK in years, but if he was tired at the end of the day, or early in the monring, it was a life-saver at the resorts.

Lots of storage possibilties (cup holders, etc.)

How much would it cost to trick out your own stroller with a clip-on sunshade and cup holder/s? I'm betting less than the total cost of WDW rental. I like the neoprene bottle holders with the snap closure - I think they're designed for attaching to your belt loops. But I use them on the stroller - work great! :thumbsup2 Also, I got a net "basket" to attach to the back of my old carppy umbrella stoller for like $8 at Babies R Us to hold diapers, snacks, sweaters, etc.

:yay: Yay! You're going back! :dance3:

 You're driving! :scared1:

:surfweb: The stroller debate... it's been awhile... (I'm old, remember?) but I vote for bringing your own umbrella stroller. Those big blue WDW strollers scare me. :scared:

Love the pic of the kids. SO adorable. You're a lucky mama. :goodvibes

the stroller that we got at babies r us, ruled, we loved it, so light and compact when not using, it had a foot thing that you could kick over and fold up, also had a detachable attachable thing on the top for the sun visor...also had a nice mesh pouch on the bag thta we liked there are a couple of good pics you might have seen in our TR.

i am against paying for strollers there, we used it everywhere on property and so glad we had it.

and for under 20 bucks, we didnot care if it did get stoller or damaged on the under belly of the plane.

And this is why I love the DIS... super ideas! I think next weekend I'm going to price some 'better' umbrella strollers that come with a sun shade, then add extras, like the net 'basket'.

Thanks for the thoughts, V!!

Yeah.. we're driving... just easier to pack everything up... the kids sleep most of the way (we drive through the night).... so it's not too bad! Plus, I get to catch up on DisUnplugged and other podcasts. :thumbsup2

And, yes, I'm lucky!! My kids are pretty dang cute, if I do say so myself!:rolleyes1

I think I might go check some out... she could be in a stroller for at least another year, so it could be a great investment! I hate that our Babies R Us is a half hour away from us.. ick!

I'm in, not a band geek, but I do love your TRs. I love to go to WDW in Spring, it is my favorite time of year. We were very lucky to have great weather every day of our late Feb trip this year. Hope you have the beautiful sunny skies too.

Can't wait to hear how you like FW, campfire and all. How fun that you have friends staying there so that you can visit them. Have always wanted to experience the campfire Disney style.

I'm in also. Wow! It seems like you and your DH have quite a few band accomplishments.

My DD is definitely a "band geek" and will be marching at Magic Kingdom at the same time you are there I believe. She marched at MK in 2007 also. DH and I are driving down to watch. Wouldn't miss it for anything. She is a "guard" girl and LOVES it! I know band has truly been a very special/important part of her life. Or shall I say it IS her life.

I can't wait to read the rest of your report.

Non-band geeks are ALWAYS welcome!! I wouldn't consider this a true trip report with out you!!;)

I sure hope to have great weather, too! Not too hot, but definitely warm... keeping my fingers crossed!

We've never been to FW, so we are looking forward to our time there, too!

So glad you're here! And glad to hear you have a 'guard girl' in the house! I just love a Disney-lovin-guard-girl!:rotfl:

Can you PM with the name of the band and when/where they'll be performing? Who knows, we might be able to see them!

I have heard some pretty GREAT ideas on these boards throughout the past few years. Now I'm hoping to get some of them!

Here's what I need:

I have a classroom of 25 kids. :teacher: I've left them twice already this year for Disney:rolleyes: . The first time, I brought back pencils, they loved those! The 2nd time, I brought back Mickey chocolate gold coins and stickers... they thought those were ok...

Now, I need something special to bring back to them! Can you help me? :confused3 Can you think of something affordable (or better yet, FREE) that I can take back and share with my kiddos? I'd love your help!

Thanks, friends!:flower3:

Hey Susie!
I didn't get to weigh in on the stroller debate yet. Even though Disney is costing us SO MUCH MONEY on stupid strollers by upping their costs, I'm a huge fan of the disney stroller. They are sturdy, great storage, don't have to haul it on and off the buses, it can be trashed, kids can spill things and you don't care, the sunshade, etc. etc. I say go for it, just my oppinion!
As for the souveniers, do they sell Disney tattoo's anywhere?? Those Disneysuckers come in multipacks and aren't that expensive, you could bring back a couple of those (you know, the mickey head ones, I think there are like 5-8 in a pack):confused3 What a nice teacher you are!
Lesley

Hi Susie,
I found you and it's only 12 days in. I think thats a record for me.
It is so cool that you are going with good friends. We have always wanted to go with our good disney friends but since we live so far from each other now(Ny & Va) it's unlikley. Yeah to disney meetings.
I need to go back & look for the mickey head strawberry-I didn't find that one.
There is a new commercial by us for Mickey & friends eggs. I didn't know mice could lay eggs??

Matt and I fall victim to the 'easiest' answer and usually that means just renting the darn stroller... and bringing the little one from home for resort use. We'll see what happens I guess!!

I have purchased pirate tatoos before from WDW... not sure what other kinds they have, but it's a good idea... thanks!

Susie,
It sounds like you have some fun things that are new for you, and/or your friends.

I took my DH on TSM last month, it was during ESPN Wknd so I knew the park would be crowded. We were way up by the hat at rope drop and followed the crowd to TSM. We skipped the fastpass line and hoped in the ride line. Basically just walked thru to the stairs, it was a great decision. Because we didn't have kids, we didn't bother getting in the huge line for the FP after our ride. Seriously it was probably a 40 minute line! I wonder if it will ever get any better?

I just love the Finding Nemo show too, and being next to EE, my favorite AK ride is great. Two more weeks, that will sure go fast.
