Trying to Transfer & so confused!

I need some help, because I just don't understand....

My friend has a Dec UY. She has 17 points left in her 2008 UY. She called MS this morning to transfer those pts to me. I have a March UY. I have 0 pts in my 2009 UY and 20 pts in my 2010 UY. I had planned on using the 17 pts from my friend and borrow more 2010 pts to add a night to my June ressie.

MS said that friend can't transfer pts to me because I have a March UY. In my understanding (which easily could be wrong) Pts keep their UY properties when transfered. So why does it matter that I have a March UY? I would now just have 17 pts with a Dec 2008 UY.

Am I right? Should my friend be able transfer pts to me? Or is it because she is in 2008 and I am in 2009 that it won't work?

I would think she should be able to transfer to you if I understand the transfer rules. I would call back and talk to another MS member to see if you get a different answer...if not, I would ask to talk to a supervisor who might at least be able to explain why.

Did either of you do a transfer in or out of that use year already? That is the only thing I can think of - you are only allowed one per year whether it be in or out. Good luck!

She can not transfer 2008 points to a 2009 use year. 2008 points have to be transferred to a 2008 use year, so MS is correct, you can not transfer Dec 2008 points to a March 2009 use year. She could have transferred them a few months ago, and you could have banked them.

You cannot transfer them into your use year month, as they will retain their original resort designations and UY month designation (good until 11/30/09 unless banked by 7/31/09) if they are Dec 2008 UY points first "recieved" on 12/1/2008. Also these can not be banked points that are in the use year from 2007.

Have your friend call back and make a more “generic” request like I want to transfer these points to this member.
