Waitlisted at BWV Dec 2009, what now?

I need some help! We just bought a resale into BWV. It just closed and we are now in the system. I called today to reserve BWV 12/26 - Jan 2nd. I know, not a great time to try to get.

They had a 1 bdr standard & 1 bdr. preffered left for 26-29th. I took the standard for that time & was waitlisted for the rest.

Being new to DVC, what are my chances of getting the rest of my vacation at BWV? Or really any 1bdr?

What's my next move at the 7 month mark?

Some advice would be great right about now!

Sorry to say, I don't think they are very good. The problem is going to be NYE - that's the most popular night and the most difficult to get. And you need a SV. Standard view villas are about 20% of the total available. On top of that, you may only have 2 active waitlists and there are undoubtedly others ahead of you for those dates at the BWV.

If you don't mind changing rooms, I'd call back and also waitlist PV - Pool/Garden for 12/30 -1/2. If you'd rather not change rooms in the middle of your stay, then I'd waitlist for PV - Pool/Garden for 12/26 -1/2. Most here believe shorter waitlists have a better chance of coming through than do the longer ones.

What's my next move at the 7 month mark?
It depends on how set you are on the BWV. If your goal is to stay in the same room for the whole week in any DVC resort, then I'd call and cancel the PV waitlist at the BWV (keep the SV) and waitlist for the whole week somewhere else. SSR & OKW are your bet bets since they are the largest.

If you really just want to be at BWV, then keep the waitlists you have.

In either case, make a back up reservation for cash somewhere that could be canceled if your waitlist works.

Some advice would be great right about now!
Sorry to be such a Gloomy Gus. It isn't impossible, so don't give up all hope. You never know when other people's plans will change. There may be some movement on the waitlists when the 7 month mark arrives, at the 31 day mark and even closer to arrival. Good luck!

I guess we wouldn't be upset if we couldn't stay at BWV. We, of course would like to stay there. But wouldn't be opposed to staying at AKL, BLT, BCV, VWL. But OKW & SSR if we had to.

So, I should call at my 7 month window and get the rest of my vacation else where? Doesn't matter where? I just wished we had closed alittle bit earlier... Gosh darn it!

Any other opinions on what to do? help a newbie out.:lmao:

You are going at a very popular time of the year. You should try for any 1BR at 7 months, but I would be shocked if there was anything available. I think your best bet would be to keep the WL for BWV for PV and SV for your remaining dates. Your WL will be ahead of anyone else putting in a WL at the 7 month time frame. Or, you could just keep the PV W-L at BWV and add SSR W-L at 7months (if you don't otherwise snag a ressie)

I would obtain reservations elsewhere as a backup just in case the WL did not come through.

If your goal is to not break up your week, call at 7 months and see what you can get elsewhere. If you can get something, book it, and then waitlist your entire stay at BWV. That way, if BW comes through, great! If not, you won't be moving around and checking in/out of rooms your entire visit! :thumbsup2

I guess at my 7 month I'm going to have to take what I can get for a 1bdr. If I have to switch from my 26-29 BWV to another resort, so be it.

I'll probably reserve any 1 bdr. then wait list the rest of my vacation at BWV.

Is there a better chance of getting a standard view or prefered view? Or doesn't it really matter?

....Is there a better chance of getting a standard view or prefered view? Or doesn't it really matter?
There are three separate booking categories at the BWV:

1. Standard View. These make up approximately 20% of the total available BWV rooms

2. Preferred View - Pool / Garden View. These make up approximately 60% of the total.

3. Preferred View - Boardwalk View. These make up approximately 20% of the total.

The SV and BW view categories are more popular than the Pool/Garden category and book up more quickly. The Pool/Garden view and the BW view rooms cost the same number of points. SV rooms cost less. IMHO, the SV rooms are the best bargain on property. Lower points, decent view and the same great EPCOT area location.

All that said, no one knows what will come through first on the waitlist. You make your decision and hope for the best. Good luck!

Once we get to the 7 month window there is some chance that some BWV owners may be trying to bet into BLT and with new inventory there being declared they may have some success so that would increase your probability.

The real issue is that this is the busiest couple of days of the year.

I would also suggest that calling once of twice a week to see if you can pick up “pieces” of your waitlist days or the booking categories that you could not waitlist for because of the new maximum of 2 rule also increases your chances,

One option is to book your remaining days at a CRO resort with cash, that guarentees you have a room. At seven months if something else is available, you can grab it and cancel your CRO ressie, but if it isn't, you won't be homeless.

Thanks everybody. I really appreciate all of the advice. we're just trying to feel things out, being new to the DVC. It took us a while to even figure out the point system! Ugh!

I called today and wait listed a preferred view BWV 1 bdr. So that means I have 2 wait lists at BWV. One for standard, one for preferred. I'm hoping one will come through.

So, at 7 months, if I still haven't gotten my Dec 29 - Jan 2nd I will call and take what ever 1 bdr. I can find. Within my points... I have 161 pts to finish using for a 1 bdr.
SSR, here I come...:lmao: Never stayed there but heard it was a large place.

I guess we're happy anywhere as long as we're on Disney grounds. You know, we just had high hopes to stay at "home" for the first time at DVC. The performers on the boardwalk are fabulous! Not to mention that long, grueling path around the resorts with a bike; gotta love them hills! You really know when the back 2 passengers are not pulling their weight! LOl.

If theres any more great advice, I'm all ears. No pun intended.
