which is better a dedicated 2 bedroom or a lockoff 1 bedroom with a studio attached for a family of 4 with grandparents...is there a difference in points? what are the pros and cons...TIA

A dedicated two bedroom costs ths same number of points as a lock off 2 bedroom.

Except for the BCV, all dedicated two bedroom units have two queen beds in the second bedroom.

Some dedicated two bedrooms at the BCV have 1 queen bed and a queen sleep sofa in the second bedroom. You know which you have when you book.

Except for OKW, all lock off two bedrooms have 1 queen bed and a double sleep sofa in the second bedroom.

At OKW, even the lock off two bedrooms have two queen beds in the second bedroom.

The BWV has only lock off two bedrooms.

Dedicated units have only one entrance. The lock off units have an entrance for the 1 bedroom side and a separate entrance for the studio side.

Lock off units have a kitchenette in the second bedroom, dedicated villas do not.

Which is best just depends on what you want and how you plan to arrange who sleeps where.

did not know this thanks for the info...

We just went with my in-laws and quite frankly I would have gone nuts in a dedicated. We got a lock off. I want and need to have SOME space and privacy. It worked out as well as it could under the circumstances - lol. At the end of the night we shut the connecting door from our side. That gave us the ability to unwind a bit, get the kids bathed and dressed and into bed and gave DH and I that little extra bit of privacy.

In the morning I could putz around in the kitchen in my nightgown and not feel worried about my my inlaws coming in. We only opened our side of the connecting door when we were all up and dressed and ready to go.

If Gramma and Grampa want to get up early to make coffee and sit outside, a lockoff would provide them their own little kitchen area and balcony. (If you put them in the second bedroom).

so then the kids would go on the pull out in the livingroom and me and hubby in the master bedroom...what size beds are the pull outs in livingroom?

They are all queen size.

That is written in the Public Offering Statement - the owers get the master bedroom, kids get the living room. Guests get the second bedroom or share the living room with the kids. ;)

Here's what we've done in the past, and why we've made different requests depending on who is going with us.

With another family...
We usually need the extra bed, and I would rather have two beds than a bed and a pull out sofa.

When just the 4 of us...
It bothers me that the kids are in a room with a door. When you have a dedicated 2-BR, the only entrance into the unit is the main door (which enters into your kitchen/living area). Plus, both kids have a queen bed and not a pull out.

If grandparents are coming...
My parents sleep in a queen bed together. So, the studio would be like a mini-apartment with its small frig, sitting area, and extra door. It allows them to come and go as they please without having to come through the main unit.

great advice thanks! we did a dedicated last year with the grandparents and it worked out ok(we gave them the master and me DH and kids used second bedroom with two queen beds) thinking the lockoff might be a better choice only one thing is making me hesitate...my father is a VERY EARLY riser and for him to be able to go into the kitchen, make coffee, watch some tv without disturbing anyone was great for everyone! (esp my mom:rotfl: ) they of course will be happy with anything and we will prob take the master and have them sleep with the kids in second bedroom next time:laughing:
