As I mentioned before, my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin joined us for parts of the trip. This was one of those times
Back around 1995, we did our own Grand Gathering, before Disney had a name for it. About 10 of us descended on 50s Prime Time and fell in love. Partially because my parents grew up with all this decor. Every time we walk in here I hear, "oh yeah, Nans had that" or "we had that in our kitchen." Every. Time. My Aunt & Uncle live in the house my Mom grew up in. Their kitchen has never been updated. Their stove is turquoise. Downstairs they have a bar with orange stools. Seriously...if the restaurant needs any replacements, I know who to call
So anyways, we walk in for our late(r) lunch and meet our family members, where else?
At the bar. They were just finishing up their drinks, I checked in and told them we were all here (ADR was under my name.) And within a couple minutes, Mom was ready for 6 kids.
For some reason, we love to do lunch here over dinner, I don't know why. But for that reason, I usually forgo getting an adult beverage. On this trip though, I was determined to try a Grandma' Picnic Punch, so I did!
I was a little concerned I wouldn't like it, so my Mom got Dad's Electric Lemonade:
I knew I would like this.
What I didn't know is how much I would
love the Picnic Punch. Ummm can we say delicious??
It turned out great, because my Mom prefered the Lemonade.
We were good kids too, set the table right away!! Now, my staple here is always the Caesar with salmon. It's very yummy. But all that morning my stomach had been twisted in knots (probably because I ate too much the night before...and then rode Star Tours and Rock n Roller...bad idea!!...oh, here's a tip: Disney sells their pretzels in a small bag for only 85 cents. Not a bad deal if you need something to settle your stomach!!) So because of my queasy stomach, I decided grease was in order, not garlic
I decided to order this:
YUM! The thing about Prime Time is that it's kind of hard to screw up the basics. Unless of course your food is brought out cold
Mine was fine, but my uncle's meatloaf came out cold, so he had to send it back. But "Mom" sent out a new piece for him without a problem. Oh, and if you notice, the Fried Chicken is supposed to come with mashed potatoes. For some strange reason, my stomach doesn't like mashed potatoes (the ones at Bistro weren't true "mashed potatoes," not like these anyway.) So I subbed fried. And yes, that is FOUR, count them F-O-U-R, pieces of chicken on that plate. Good Lord, that's a lot of chicken. I ate almost all of the breast and that's about all I could muster. And I did eat some of my "greens."
I really like the atmosphere here. The food is nothing fancy, but just good 'ol fashioned American fare. I would have loved to try the S'mores for dessert, but I was just too full. My family comes here on almost every one of our trips (at least the ones that involve HS!) Of course it helps that we don't like the CS offerings
But we love the fun that ensues.
FTR: My Dad had the fish sandwich, my Mom had the Fried Chicken, my Uncle had the Meatloaf, My Cousin & Aunt had the Chicken Sandwiches. All but the meatloaf came out fine. (But really...ewwwww meatloaf, serves him right!
)
Bonus!
