Stephanie and Rashad
Escape Wedding at Sea Breeze Point on October 8, 2009

Me- My name is Stephanie and I am a pre-kindergarten teacher in an inner city school! I love working with my 3,4 and 5 year olds. I grew up in Lancaster PA, but moved last year outside of Harrisburg

My Love- Rashad is and x-ray tech. He grew up in Georgia, but after high school he moved around quite a bit. Thankfully he ended up in Harrisburg.

How we met- We are another Match.com success story. I had just moved to Harrisburg, I didnt know anyone so I went online and he was the first guy I messaged. I read his profile and knew he was perfect for me, and if he would just look at my profile he would see that I was perfect for him too (lol) . It took him 3 agonizing days to respond to me.... which I found out was because that weekend he moved to Baltimore! (and hour and a half away)

We made the long distance thing work for us (thank goodness teachers have the summers off. Rashad moved back to PA to be close to me.

The Wedding- I should have probably mentioned that my Dad is a BIGTIME Disney fan! (for those of you on other disney forums He is HTROUPE). He and my mom had such a great time trick or treating at MK a few years back that they decided to take the whole family (Grandparents, me and my sister and boyfriends included) to Disney World the fall of 2009 to do it again.

Rashad and I talked for a while and decided that this would be a great time for us to get married, with my family all there and his family much closer to Florida than PA. So we booked our wedding! OOPS It was a perfect plan except we forgot to get engaged first.

Proposal On February 14, 2009, I visited Rashad in MD while he was working. He took me to our favorite spot in Inner Harbor. Where we spent a lot of time during the "long distance " part of our relationship. It was freezing cold, and it started snowing. Rashad gave me my Valentines present a box. and when I opened it I saw a beautiful aquamarine necklace. He told me to "Stand up so I can help put it on you" So I did and when I turned around to show him the necklace... he was holding and AMAZING aquamarine engagement ring. And he said "Will you marry me?"

Here is the ring

Well I have been back and forth for about a month on an officiant. I really wanted a non-religious ceremony but we didnt know who to get to perform. Well after much deliberation and a lot of research we finally chose Rev. Jack Day. His civil ceremony is beautiful and I have not heard one bad thing about him yet!

YAY! :goodvibes One step closer to the big day!

Well I have been busy with wedding plans, but not so vigilant about updating all of you so here is what has been going on:

Wedding Dress shopping was horrible the first day that I went out. I went to David's Bridal and at first I thought the woman didn't understand what I wanted, because she kept bringing me all of these HORRIBLE dresses, nothing like what I was asking for- but as it turned out... they only had 7 dresses in my size and they were all horrible. :confused3 So I went home that day feeling really frustrated, and all around miserable.

My mom was out at Alfred Angelo with my sister- and she said I should check there, so I drove to Lancaster and tried on some dresses and fell in love with one! YAY!!!

A while later I went back with my sister and my best friend (BMs) and found their dresses. We decided to go with brown, because I am hoping that they will be able to wear them again. Also I am going with the orange calla lilies, and I think that brown and orange are nice for an October wedding. Here is a pic of the bridesmaids gown, they ended up picking the same dress!!!

Dont you just love happy endings?!:cutie: princess:

I LOVE YOUR DRESS!!! :lovestruc

I can't understand for the life of me why David's Bridal skimps on dresses in certain sizes! They had four in my size, 3 of which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and one I fell in love with. I dunno!:confused3

You made an excellent choice in the bridesmaid dress - we're doing my MOH in sunshine through Alfred Angelo, but I love the espresso. And with orange calla lilies - GORGEOUS!! :worship:

So today was the third time in a row that Rashad asked me if we were done planning our wedding. "We're done now right? Everything's covered...right? Well I'm telling people that it's all planned." Then a few hours later when he finds out that I'm on the Disboards again I hear "sigh, we're not done are we?"

Well we are done...but we aren't done. I wanted a simple wedding, that was one of the things that really drew me to a Disney Escape Wedding. I make all of the choices and then I show up on the day and it's all taken care of. It was a real priority to me to feel like a "guest" at my own wedding. No drama- no stress, just fun.

LOL- I think to answer my DFiance's question: We are done planning all of the things that typical grooms see at a wedding. The dresses, the flowers, the food. But I still do not have invitations, gifts, welcome bags or centerpieces. (There is still fun to be had!)
