I am looking at SW for June18-30 from Pitt. Prices are ok, just not great. If I book now and the price goes down, I know that I can get a credit, but how long do I have to use it? Is is a year from getting the credit or from the date of travel?

Thanks

It is 1 year from the date that you purchased the ticket. And travel must be completed by that date.

awwww...you'll be heading the the World on my Birthday!!:goodvibes

Your credit will expire 1 yr from the date of original purchase. If you buy today, it must be used by 2/19/10. Not just booked, but flying must happen before that date.

Happy Birthday!! (on 6/18)

Just to be clear.....(sometimes it takes me a while)..
If I purchase today 2/19, traveling 6/18 and 6/30
Price drops 3/12, and I get the credit, it needs to be used by 2/19?

Yes, the credit has to be used by 2/19/10... one year from date of original purchase... regardless of travel date or even the date you got the lower price...

btdt

Good luck!!

You got it! It's a great excuse to go back again. I scour my kids' school schedule as soon as it's released to find long weekends when we can go back (teacher's inservices, Jewish holidays, etc.)

Dh teases me that I'll plan a whole trip around a $200 credit but I just can't stand to let it get away. :sad2:
If the exp. date occurs during the time you want to go away, just use it for the departing flight and book the return separately. That way you still use up the credit and the return flight will have a new exp. date.

When you book, they email you a confirmation. The exp. date of those funds is clearly stated in that email.

I was looking for June 14-20 PIT-MCO. The current price is $357 for the flights I want (morning to MCO, evening return)! When they first came out, it was around $325, so it's only going up! I ended up transferring hotel points to SW to get a free ticket but I have to go on June 13, the ones available on June 14 arrive in the evening. Since USAir did away with their non-stops to MCO, I think SW is charging more.

We are flying out of Indy on the 14th (of June) and back on the 15th. I also saw the rates keep going up, got afraid, and booked in early Feb. Yesterday our departing flight dropped $45 per person, but the return flight went up $25. I would keep checking back because all the rates out of indy went to bottom WGA rates through the 19th.

I don't really need an excuse to go back. :goodvibes But we were looking at going this year the end of June and then next year at the beginning of June to take advantage of AP. Also my girls are getting to where it is harder and harder to take them out of school. :sad2:

Thank you for your help. :goodvibes

That is why we went for the Thurs and Tues flights. The weekends are horrible!!! :scared1: If you can go on those days the flights are cheaper.

Love Indy!! Been there a few times, I think we are coming out again the end of May. Don't think that I will fly out of there though. I have Cleveland, Pittsburg and Columbus much closer. :thumbsup2

oh yeah, especially out of PIT & for the NS, weekend flights

i cringed when i paid $344 pp for travel sat 6/27-sun 7/5, hasn't moved a penny one way or the other since i booked asap 1st day

ive checked other airports in FL, arriving the evening before 6/27, meager savings wouldn't pay for cheap hotel let alone difference in car rental:confused3

the ridiculously early crack of dawn flight is a few bucks cheaper, how is it ur dates? unless it dips dramatically, ill skip it, flew it once & I was ready to call it a night 6 pm:headache:

Southwest used to be really good about not just issuing credit, but actually refunding the difference to your credit card. I had this happen a few years ago, when $59 flights dropped to $39 (weren't those the days).

Do they still issue refunds, or is it now only credits? Has anyone TRIED to actually get the refunds?

Yes, I remember the good ol' days. When you actually got excited over a Ding!
I have gotten refunds back in those days too, only when you didn't actually change your flight day or time, just changed for the new price.
A coworker of mine tried to get a refund for a July flight last year and they told her that they no longer issue refunds back to a cc.
I haven't tried since.

I just changed, resulting in a credit of $48. Same flight times, people, flight numbers, itinerary, etc... After changing, I requested a direct credit back to my CC, and was told that you are only eligible if the actual fare class didn't change. When they looked at the fare class (even though the flights didn't change), I had changed fare classes, therefore was only eligible for a future credit, not a refund.
