Does anyone know how long it is taking for Passport Renewals? Our DD sent her's in on February 2nd for a name change after getting married. The check was cashed 3 days later but when we look up the status it says nothing can be found yet.

It is being processed in Philadelphia.

Any ideas? :confused3

(Her first passport took 5 months to get in 2007!!!!):scared1:

I think you should probably be getting it within the next week. Don't forget that Monday is a holiday.

My DS applied for an adult passport last November -- took about a month (if I recall, we rec'd the new passport about a day after it posted on the Dept of State website saying four weeks)

My DS renewed his passport at the end of December. It arrived in about 10 days.

Just did the DD two weeks ago. The passport took less then 10 days from filling out the paperwork in the town hall (for the renewal) to getting it in the mail. We used the Miami passport office.

Took me less than two weeks last year. I do remember I received the new passports before the website showed they had been processed and mailed.

Unless they are needed urgently, wait until the end of the month. If you haven't heard back by then, call the passport office in Philly.

I renewed mine a few weeks ago. I expedited it and it came in less than a week. I probably could have saved myself the $$$ since it seems turn around time is FAST!!!

We got brand new passports a few months ago thru Phila inn less than 2 weeks turnaround time, from day mailed to day received.

Don't worry about the online status check. We received my sons passport a month ago (after about two weeks) and I just checked the status today and it still says nothing can be found. That online status check is worthless.

All indications are that they are taking about two weeks to process applications right now. You can always call and talk to someone. the number is on the passport site. I have always found them to be very helpful and friendly when I was calling to 'bug' them about passport applications.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. Unfortunately, we are a bit tainted by our experience from 2007. Our son had to finally call our Congressman to assist in getting his passport. It's 2 weeks now and since there is no mail today, maybe it'll be on it's way soon. Thanks, OrlandoDisneyFan for letting me know about the worthless status check. I'll be a little more patient now after reading your response.:thumbsup2

Hi
Cany anyone tell me how long a passport is good for before you have to renew it?
Thanks

For US passports, 10 years for adults, five years for children (those under 18).

The 5-year restriction is for those under SIXTEEN.

from the Dept of State website (www.state.gov)

9. How long is a passport valid and when should I renew my passport?

If you were ____ when the passport was issued then your passport is valid for
Over Age 16 : 10 Years
Age 15 or Younger : 5 Years

The Issue Date of your passport can be found on the data page of your Passport Book or on the front of your Passport Card.

If possible, you should renew your passport approximately nine (9) months before it expires. Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six (6) months beyond the dates of your trip. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met.

If you passport has already expired, you may still be able to renew your passport by mail. See How to Renew Your U.S. Passport.
