Oceaneer Club Questions

Hi all,

Really trying to figure out the Oceaner Club for our 3 year old. I see a long list of activities on the DCL web site, but assume they are scattered throughout the cruise. Will the Navigator have a schedule for the events? Do any limit the number of children who can participate? Are parents welcome to all? I'm looking specifically at the Do-Si-Do with Snow White, Aloha Luau, and Rescue Rangers among others.

Are there many events scheduled during the days while in port?

Can anyone tell me about the Little Einsteins Adventure? Are there characters actually there?

Hi.

You can pick up a navigator with the week long activities and times of each one. There are activities daily, including port days.

There really are no limits on the amount of children, on my years on the boards, I have read of one time where a child was refused, due to a high number of children, and that was during a Xmas cruise I believe. Once you are booked, then your child has been allocated for in numbers for the Children's Clubs.

Parents are welcome to watch. My children were a little older, so I have no personal experience with any of those activities. Hoping someone who did will chime in for you.

Thanks so much! We were hoping the club would allow us to have some adult time, but if our DD isn't ready to go solo we'll have fun as a family.

We just got off our first Disney cruise Saturday. Our 3-year-old daughter loved the club. And it was a great time for us to spend some adult time, but not feel guilty. In fact, whenever I started to feel guilty I quickly stopped when I went to get her and she told me she didn't want to leave. She even had dinner with the club one night.

I'm not positive about Little Einsteins, but I can tell you that we were in the club during the Snow White activity. One of the counselors told the children a story and taught them a little song and dance. Then Snow White came out and told the children more of a story and sang and danced with them a little. It was really cute. My daughter became more of a fan of Snow White after this trip.

Also, if you're interested, we have a trip report on the trip report section of this site. I posted some pictures of the club just the other day. I'm also posting navigators and menus as I write about each day.

While there are many activites listed in the navigators, there were also many things the children did when activities weren't listed. They had computer games, plenty of arts and crafts, times for them to play dress up (My daughter was often in a costume when I went to pick her up.)

I can't say enough good things about it - The club was clean and the counselors followed the rules to the T when it came to safety, making sure no children left that club without checking their wrist band and asking parents for passwords. I felt my daughter was safe and happy.

I've never heard of them limiting on the activities EXCEPT FOR the sleepover- which i'm not even sure they do on every cruise and likely a youngster like you seem to have might not be ready for that anyway. But anyway the sleepover was limited and was like first come/first serve to get tickets for it. Everything else I've never heard of a limit to how many kids can come. I assumed that is one of the reasons they limit how many kids can book in each age group- otherwise if they allowed however many children to book that people wanted to book- they might end up with too many kids in a particular age group and it would cause issues with activities (among other things like how many counselors they have per certain amt of kids/etc.)

When you say "limit how many kids can book in each age group", do you mean book the cruise or book the club?

You can check out previous navigators which don't really vary much from cruise to cruise in the DIS DCL FAQ thread at the top of this forum under NAVIGATORS.

The previous poster was referring to the fact that DCL will not allow more than a certain number of kids in each age group to be booked on each cruise to prevent overcrowding and access problems in the clubs. Someone posted here once that they had an infant and were not able to book with the kid but could book the same cruise with just the two adults. They called DCL and told them that they were not going to use the nursery but DCL sticks to its guns when it comes to the kid limits.

I was not aware that DCL managed the number of kids in each age group. Thanks for educating me! I'll check out the Navigators as well.
