i was doing some housework today and just thinking about our holiday to wdw in june and just thinking how very lucky we and are children are. this will be our 7th trip. i try to tell my kids they are very lucky children but they dont realise yet, i know they will when they grow up and have to pay for it themselves do any of you think about how lucky you are? what is wrong with me i'm sounding very deep today????

You are very lucky and ur children are very lucky i never went anywhere like Disney when i was a child lots of my friends had but never me, so i made sure that when i was older i would go and pay for it all myself

I am very lucky to have a job and very lucky to have my Matt who means everything to me. We only live in a double room in a shared house but im very lucky to have that and im very happy

I've not been for 9 years now, and have had to save a looong time for this trip (still not paid off yet...) but even though I have to scrimp and save every penny (literally!) I do think we're very lucky to be able to go, even just once.

TBH, I'm not quite sure how I'm managed it so far, and I'll feel rich when the holiday is over and I have nothing to pay for lol, but I'm so glad I'm able to give such a magical experience to my children. It'll be their first ever holiday, abroad or UK, and I couldn't think of a better place to take them.

I feel very lucky that I have been able to visit WDW 15 times, and for the last few years being able to visit twice in a year. We have got some fantastic memories that we have shared with our girls (they were 6 and 4 on our first visit and now they're 18 and nearly 16)

Unfortunately in the current climate, we are just thankful that hubby is still in a good job (though I wish it was more secure), so for our upcoming trip we have only made basic deposits and won't make anymore till they're due

I remember well Mandy, to be honest when I was a kid, NO ONE went abroad for holidays, it just wasn't an option, my son has travelled all over the world and although he says he realises how lucky he is I don't know if he really does.

I remind my kids often how lucky they are the oldest has been 6 times, middle 5, times and youngest 4 times. The last 4 years we have been every year but this year we are not going. We are going to Salou instead and my oldest DS is sooo excited about going somewhere new, as he says he is a bit bored of disney . He says he wants to see more of the world and I can see his point and I feel lucky that we are able to give them all the opportunity as when I was younger we never ever left scotland for our holidays.

I can remember being at junior school and a girl in my class went to Orlando every year, we all thought that her parents must be soooooooooooo rich, and we were all very envious of her. I remember she went one year and bought about five of us back a John Travolta poster it was in the time of Grease and I think a Mickey pencil, it was my first Disney souvenir I should have kept it LOL. I do think we are lucky, I am lucky to have our home and very lucky to have Ian. Having said that he does work lots of Saturdays and Sundays for up to ten hours as well as his normal week, the bulk of which goes towards our holidays, so sometimes when friends say you are lucky or you may me sick, I am often tempted to tell them that Ian has worked like a dog all year for us to be able to go and enjoy ourselves.

i get this from a lot of my minders parents..... oh we must be paying you to much we both work full time and live cheaply elsewhere so our holidays are our only splurge !

and I've seen the costs that went on his Fairfx card that night (yours will be the same) and it was blooming worth it too

I didn't go on holiday every year as a child and when I did it was usually to a caravan in Wales so I think myself very lucky to have been able to have any summer holiday every year with my children.

We're going on our 4th WDW trip this year and when I stop to think about it I feel it really is an obscene amount to pay for 2 weeks of fun especially when there are other people in this world living in poverty. But I obviously don't think about this long enough to prevent me from going!

The only reason I went back to work once the children were in full time school was to pay for a second WDW holiday (we'd inherited some money and used it to pay for our "once in a lifetime trip" but once we were home decided we NEEDED to go back again ).

I think my family is very lucky. I travelled abroad as a child but both my parents worked and I remember what year we went where.
My children get to go to a variety of destinations including WDW as well as some short, some long haul destinations. We have continued to travel with them as we did before we had them. They will never think a certain year was when they went to a certain place, as they go away a few times a year.
Some family members think they're spolit we look forward to our little breaks and holidays together as a family, there's nothing more we like spending our spare dosh on

I feel very lucky that we can afford to holiday in the US as I know many people can't. We do go without/restrict a lot of stuff that many people I know don't even think twice about to make it happen but i'd rather have my 2-3 weeks in the US than 52 nights in the pub, lunch from M&S/Subway/similar every day, designer clothes etc.

My Mother & Father took myself and my brother to WDW three times as children, something that we never ever would have dreamed of in a million years. Many of you (Mum's & Dad's) have mentioned that you tell your children that they are lucky - and believe me, there'll come a day when they realise this and will be eternally grateful for everything you have given them, as myself and my brother have now we're both older.

Our first trip in 1993 was to be 'once in a lifetime' and if that would have been true, then we could never have asked for more. It was one time more than my DBF had ever been as a child. But, my parents, soft and wonderful as they are, both worked VERY hard and took us back for another two trips in 1995 & 1998.

In 1998 that was it, I never believed I'd go back. But, then DBF took over and we both saved (along with Mum & Dad's help - STILL!) and we went back in 2008. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! DBF had never been as I mentioned and his face for those two weeks was just a privilage to see. A boy, who's now all grown up, experienced Disney for the first time - and loved it just like a child would. DBF now classes himself as lucky, as even though he was an adult when he had his 1st trip, it's one thing he never thought he'd do.

Oh and did I mention - he's going back! Alongside me, my Mum, my Dad & Brother. This time I'm saving as much as I possibly can each month, as I'm as determined as possible that I'll re-pay my Mother & Father's kindness as a child and take them back to a place I know they both love and have missed for the last 10 years.

It'll be worth every penny...

You certainly don't come across as "spoilt", as distant family members of mine seem to think my children will be. When our girls ask us when we can go back we remind them how we're saving all our pennies and that can take a long time
