Bridge Tours?

We were on the Jan 17th Eastern and were informed that due to security reasons there is no bridge tours allowed.

has anyone ever had a bridge tour? I thought I had read people in suites could get bridge tours? Is this true?

I have seen some pictures in trip reports with people on the bridge.

I asked in October 08 and was nicely informed that they can't accomodate a request like that anymore. But, they did give my name to the chief engineer and he called me in my room one night and we talked for close to an hour about the ship and what it is like to work on one. He definately said I should try to get a job about a year before the new ships come out. Since I am an electrical engineer, it is tempting, but I'm not sure about being away from the family for that kind of time.

They used to have them regular scheduled (sign up for it) but when they redid the fitness area it took away the catwalk that was used for the tour. As mentioned sometimes they still offer them to suite guests.

Here are some pics I took back in 2005 when they still did the tour.....

Sorry...some are a bit fuzzy. The CM's from Cruise Staff would do the tours....as I said that catwalk is now gone (part the spa/fitness area). An officer would come out to where the CM was and explain a bit about the bridge. It was very informative and very interesting!

Yes it is possible. We were invited on our October 2008 cruise.

Go to the concierge reception when you board the ship. Ask the concierge if a bridge tour is possible. He/she will likely respond that no, bridge tours are no longer offered, but occasionally the captain will offer a special invitation. They can put the request in and see what happens.

We received a call the day before and were supposed to go as the ship left port at Cozumel, but there was some problem and the switched to the next day which was a sea day.

Only a handful of these invitations are offered each cruise, so there are no guarantees, but it was VERY cool and I would suggest requesting it.

agree with the last 2 posts. When we were on board in October we asked the concierge team and they told us the same thing, no but they would try. We got to go up after we docked at Castaway Cay. It was really cool. My DS (10) had lots of neat questions. We also asked about a private meet and greet and was told it was $500. WE said never mind. Later we got to meet Captain Jack privately for a few minutes just prior to his photo session.
