Candy Bar

I was at a wedding show a couple weekends ago and Korri (I think that was her name) from DFTW did a presentation. She mentioned that someone had a candy bar at their reception. Has anyone done this? Or thinking of doing it? If so, I would love more details. I would like to do this as our favor, but not sure how well it would go over.

I am doing hershey nuggets with a wrap around it That says our names and date on one side with mickey and minnie on the the other side for my favors at my reception. I think they are so cute. Who doesn't love chocolate?

I have seen some candy buffets. They are very cute. I think i read a post about this on here the other day. You have to buy ALOT of candy in order to get the look. I read another post on a wedding site that said they bought 30 pounds of candy. Then each guest gets a little bag and scoops out the candy they want.

If you are doing a Disney wedding and not having a whole lot of friends/family I don't think it would be worth it.

But if you are doing an at home reception I think it would be very nice.

Candy buffets are so cute! I've seen mini take-out boxes as an idea and all the candy was color coordinated for the wedding. Its also great just to put all your favorite yummy candy out there, matching colors or not...its candy!

Thanks for the responses. I'm having my wedding at Shades of Green. We will have appx. 120-130 guests, so I think it might be worth it. I told DF and he thought it sounded like the stupidest thing ever!!! I was like, no I see it on TV all the time, it's the in thing these days. I think he will like it though when he sees it!

We had our wedding Dec. 6th 2008 and we had a candy bar -- see image below..

I will say it is a lot of work and we were left with a LOT of candy, since we had so much food and then cake people didn't take that much.. My husband and I are big candyholics and thought it would be fun..

I will say if you are planning on doing it yourself, like I did, Disney does not allow any candy that is not wrapped (as part of their health code) and unless you get a REALLY amazing planner like we had, most won't set it up without charging you-- from what our planner told me..

Disney does offer to do the candy bar for you through the floral department -- but it is a tad on the expensive side..

All in all it was nice and I would say if you want to foot the bill and work -- I say go for it.. especially if that is what you are using as your favor..

This is true --- we also had our reception at the Grand Floridian Hotel --- Maybe Shades of Green is different....

We used those bags you see on the table.. the Christmas looking ones -- got them from Target for $1 for 12 of them around Christmas time..

We did personalized candy bar wrappers for our VR in 2006 through www.wrappedhershey.com
Very reasonable...they print up the wrapper and you slip it over the candybar that you provide. Order as much or as little as you need...I will post a pic when I get off work.

I have seen candy bars and if I was having more people at my reception I would definitely do it. I think it can be really cute with a theme. (All candy the same color, or all of your favorite candies, old fashioned candy, or candy with a a theme like conversation hearts, sweet tarts, hugs, kisses, and candy with "love words".
