My daughter is getting married in June (not at Disney though  ). She's picked out her wedding music and has about 60 songs for the wedding and reception. She has a wide assortment of genres.

Does anybody know what the cheapest, most reputable sites are for purchasing downloads? :)

(I realize that there are options that wouldn't cost anything, but we're not interested in going that route. Thanks! :goodvibes )

I download from amazon alot! I find them to be cheaper than ITUNES!

Okay, this is probably going to be a dumb question, but bear with me.

When I look at the sites, it doesn't sound like the MP3 downloads can be put onto a CD (which is what she's planning on doing). Am I understanding that correctly, or am I completely wrong?

The Wal-Mart site did have an option for that, so it seems like that would work.

what songs are you looking for?? i have a vast assortment of 'wedding' songs I gathered for my own wedding. I have the rights to these songs (ie..paid for them, so I can share them) and id be happy to burn a disc for you of anything I have :)

what kind of music did you have for your dinner / reception? I was thinking about this yesterday, as we will have an ipod there i think and bring our own speakers. I was thinking it would be hard to have songs that everyone likes, and do i mix old songs and new ones and different genres??

That is so kind of you! :goodvibes

I'll check with her and PM you. By the way, your pictures are beautiful. You certainly made a gorgeous bride! ::yes::

I made a mix of slower songs for dinner, and faster more upbeat songs for dancing/after dinner. I used a good mixture of everything from Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, U2, modern stuff like All American Rejects, etc....so it was a mix everyone would appreciate. I loved the playlist during dinner....I picked all the love songs I'd ever liked and dreamed of playing at my wedding. We also made playlists for when Mickey & Minnie were there, the cake cutting ('Ain't That a Kick in the Head' and 'Sugar Sugar') and the bouquet/garter toss ('Pretty Fly for a White Guy' lmao).

Here were the playlist titles on the iPod:
  • Guest Seating/Introductions (Disney music from the 'On The Record' recordings)
  • First Dance (for hubby and me 'Something' by the Beatles')
  • Parents Dance ('What a Wonderful World' by Armstrong and Kenny G)
  • Dinner (as mentioned above, a nice mix of love/slow songs)
  • Dancing/Fun (Upbeat music with disco, oldies, new songs, etc)
  • Anniversary Dance ('L-O-V-E' by Sinatra I think)
  • Mickey/Minnie (Disney soundtrack music...started with 'Minnie's Yoohoo')
  • Cake Cutting ('Ain't that a Kick in the Head' and 'Sugar Sugar')
  • Bouquet/Garter Toss ('Pretty Fly for a White Guy')
  • Last Dance ('Hey Jude' which segwayed into 'Sgt. Pepper's'...a great 'goodbye' song!)

It was very easy to use, and Disney provides a GREAT speaker setup!

ETA: You DO want to include things like the Electric Slide and Cupid Shuffle during your dancing...it sounds cheesy...but that is what REALLY works! The Cupid Shuffle was the biggest hit at our reception!

Awww...thank you!! And yes, def PM me the songs she wants. If I have some it will save you $!! :)

omg...Google it!!! Or better yet....You Tube it!!! its great! A new version of the electric slide..so much fun!! :) and the song is cute too :)

I just youtubed it. It kind of reminds me of the old Hustle we used to do when I was in high school (waaaayyyyy back in the middle 70's :rotfl2: ). I loved the videos. It looks like lots of fun! ::yes::

I have never heard of the Cupid shuffle and now I am so excited to make it a part of my wedding. Thank you so much for your wonderful info.

I would like our farewell song to be a disney song. Do you know one I can use, We are leaving our reception to get on the road to WDW. I thought a farwell Disney song would be fun.

That is so much fun..I was thinking of a Whole new world..but I might have to condsider your idea too.
thank you!!!!

another good option is the final song from 'Wishes'. It has an intro by Jimminy Cricket that basically says 'Thank you for being a part of our magical evening...' its neat! :)
