Is Hoop De Doo Worth it?

It will just be DH and I, no children. We thought the food at the Whispering Canyon Cafe was terrible (could have been an off night). Is the food better at HDD? We both like the Country Bear Jamboree and bluegrass music. I like shows. DH gets nervous with audience participation. Do they draw people up on stage (kids or adults?)? I thought we would be safe sitting in the balcony of tier 2.

What are your thoughts. It is worth it? How's the food? How's the show? Is their audience participation? Is it fun?

We loved it! We took DS5 last year, but DH and I would've definitely enjoyed it alone, too. The food was good and the entertainment was fantastic! They won't drag anyone on stage, and you'll definitely be safe in the balcony.

we sat right next to the stage-you are only as involved as you want but no one goes up on the stage(we would not have wanted to). Not worth the money in my opinion. kind of like seeing hee haw live

We really enjoyed it. I was starving when I went so I might not be the best judge of the food. The cornbread and the ribs rocked. I'm sure if you tell your server at the beginning that you are not interested in participating you would be safe. My whole family thought it was great (better than the Luau) and look forward to going back. Now the beauty is that the show is the same as it has been for many years with no signs of changing so if not this trip than maybe next trip.

I took my DS and we sat at the front table center stage. They do not drag anyone up on stage.

From your post and likes, it sounds like you would enjoy the show. I for one think the show is great. The food and service was great (I happen to love ribs and cornbread so I was very happy) , the gratuity is included in the price and its all you can drink beer and sangria. :drinking1

What's not to like? If you don't like the show, drink more. It will get better.:rotfl2:

As for seating, if you cannot get a table near the front, I'd do the balcony as the tables are against the rail and no one would be blocking your view. The main floor is flat, so if you're in the back you might have sightline issues.

:) My husband made arrangments for us to go see it on our last night there - last September. My dh, dm, dd & ds all went and I have to say - it was a great ending to a great vacation! I'm so glad we took the time to see it! It was funny and even my kids enjoyed it!

If you like Countrybear Jamboree and bluegrass music I think you would definitely like this. When we went with our parents w/o kids we all enjoyed it very much. The food was good and the show was very entertaining. We also liked the boat ride to get there.

We also enjoyed the Dixie Stampede (not Disney) when we went.

I haven't been to hoop dee do... but more because it is hard to get reservations there...

How early do you have to book in order to get in?

We ate there on Tuesday night. It was OK, the kids loved it, my DIL loved it. In my opinion, not worth the 2 table service, and it takes FOREVER to get back to your resort. If you decide to do it, be prepared to sleep on the way back. Keep in mind, I wasn't put out or anything. I am glad we did it, because others in our party loved it. Just isn't my bag.

Great Show, Okay food at best, there is Audience participation and yes 3 audience members are brought on stage. Tell them when making your reservation that you do not wish to participate. as far as audience participation I have been at the same table three times and they always go to the same chair for audience participation. I have not noticed a pattern in how they choose people for going on stage, but that is much more discrete and I am sure you can refuse without any embarrassment.

I just wish they would choose me I love being the center of attention.

If you have your travel dates, use the DIS dining calculator to figure out when you should call WDW-DINE. Disney guests can book all of their Dining Reservations at 90 days out + an additional 10 days to cover your whole trip. Call on that day and you won't be disappointed with your seats. I called first thing and was at the front center table touching the stage.

Someone did the math and it is not worth using 2TS credits on pretty much any dinner. But keep in mind, 2 TS on HDD IS better deal than using 2 TS on 2 separate Character BF. Adults are like $22 for each of those, and HDD is what...close to $60 now? Gratuitiy IS included and you get Beer and Wine. Also keep in mind you are being entertained. So it depends how you are using your TS. If you regularly use them on Le Celier and Chef de France, then maybe you aren't getting a deal.

As for getting home, I can only speak to there being empty busses for each resort waiting at the end of the walkway near the petting area right after the show was over. These were for us. I got right on and was back to POP within 20-30 minutes after the show. Have they changed this? Or did you take the boat back to MK and go from there?
