when i modify my reservation when a code or deal comes out, do I lose that $133? Im asking because in order to change a reservation, I think they cancel the old one and make a new one. There's no refunds for vacation insurance, so they won't apply it to a new reservation will they?

I have changed my ressies three times (with insurance), sometimes they transfer it, and sometimes not, but, before the call ends, ask them to make sure that they still apply it, and they will, if they left it off.

As long as you are still booking a package you can transfer your insurance. If you switch from a package to room only you lose your insurance, but you still have to pay for it.

If you change the dates, they will probably not reimburse you for the insurance. I just changed my vacation with a 40% code and I had to repay the insurance.

My understanding is a date change pretty much cancels the travel insurance. The reason is when you buy the insurance you are purchasing it for specific travel dates. And it is non-refundable. (Seems like there is a 14 day period or something like that, from what I have read here.)
But by cancelling and rebooking with different dates the travel insurance was for the dates you purchased it for. Non-refundable, and not transferred.
Example, you book a package for March travel and include travel insurance.
Later you cancel and rebook for May dates.
Your nonrefundable insurance was for the March dates. To cover the new travel dates, you would have to re-buy.
From what another poster wrote not long ago a few days does not seem to matter. :confused3
However I cannot speak from personal experience on any of this. Just going by what I have read here and there.

if you move the dates by a day or two theyll usually modify it but changing dates completely (like may to august) you will lose it. any other changes doesnt effect the insurance

I'm not changing the dates at all. The only thing I would be changing is adding a code to get a discount.
I remember a few years ago I had a trip booked. Then free dining came out. I called back Disney and they told me that they had to cancel the original reservation and make a new one. If they do that this time, I would see losing my insurance deposit. ? But I hope not! :)

I never use the insurance on online TA's since if you have to change dates, you usually lose the insurance. I use insuremytrip dot com. If you change your dates there, it hardly ever changes the rate. This site is much cheaper than online TA rates, too. Good luck!

We changed a bounceback offer to a pin offer. We have APs and added the dining plan to make it a package and keep our insurance. We stayed for the same dates, but changed resorts.

I the dates stay the same and you are just changing the discount, then you should be fine. The insurance should not be affected.
