Any way to get out of a priceline contract?

So...I booked a full-size SUV for my brother who is going to WDW in March through Alamo using a coupon and the Alamo Walmart code -- really just a fall-back position, since it is very possible he would have gotten a last-minute special for those dates.

Then last night, he went and bid for a vehicle on Priceline and got himself a sedan (for the same price!) Obviously, he wasn't thinking straight. Not only has he missed out on any decreases in the rental rates (which I believe are now falling for his dates), he will have to pay the extra driver fee -- whether or not they have the additional driver included is not negotiable, it's a necessity for this trip.

Have you ever been able to get out of a Priceline contract? I'm thinking that even if they had to pay a fairly substantial cancellation fee, they would be better off.

Brothers! :crazy2:

No, Priceline is VERY clear that it's NO CHANGE, NO REFUNDS!

The ONLY hope he has is actually bad... they have allowed cancellations with bad weather. (Hurricanes, ice storms etc)

We were able to get out of our contract do to flight schedule changes. Our flight was cancelled and scheduled for later in the day. The problem was we had to be there at a certain so we had to leave a day earlier. They gave me some grief, but I read to them their own terms and conditions and it said if it was out of your control, and a flight cancellation certainly is out of my control they would refund the contract. They did this once they confirmed the flight was cancelled. This was all done on the phone in about 15 minutes.

Can you cancel the SUV you rented for him instead?

Yes, it can be cancelled unless the OP pre-paid, which I don't think happened. I think OP is concerned because her brother is now "LOCKED IN" to the Priceline rate, no matter what. The cool thing about car rentals is that you can book a car and cancel and rebook if you find a lower rate with no fees. I change ressies 10+ times per trip as the rate drops.......

Actually, I'm not concerned about the Alamo reservation. Just about the fact that my brother is now paying over $200 more by booking on priceline -- that's the one we want to get out of.

I'm not sure if the "cancellation" fee is the entire base cost of the rental or the entire rental cost including taxes and fees. Depending on the extra driver cost your brother might save a couple of dollars if he eats the cost of the PL reservation and gets the best deal with a rental.

I wouldn't bother explaining this to my brother, I'd just cancel the Alamo reservation and let your brother use his PL reservation.

I think that's what will have to happen. I think he just got caught up in the bidding - something to watch out for I'm sure -- his final bid on the priceline sedan was actually a little more than the extra day rental rate on the Alamo reservation for a full size SUV (but since he is renting the car for more than a week...) That extra driver cost is going to hurt, a lot!

I don't think this will work. You can't use coupons, codes or the value of the included extra driver.

Yes, but...like I said, he got the sedan for a little more than the extra day price of the SUV (so the car rental company's sedan prices must be even lower, I would think)

At least he would save that much, so worth a try. Thanks! :flower3:

You used a code and a Walmart coupon. You can't use either when you make a best price guarantee with PL. Remove the discount and the rate will be higher then the PL rate.

There isn't any way you can "win". Just let your brother decide what he wants to do.

Sadly, the Priceline rental was from National...so you know where this is going.

Thanks for all the help.
